Leitrim 1-12 Kildare 0-7

Leitrims Junior team qualified for their first All-Ireland final since 1938 when they defeated Kildare in Pears Park, Longford on Sunday.

Decimated after losing 14 of the team who played in the Connacht Junior Championship a mere two months, Leitrim looked unlikely to bridge the 66-year gap since their last Final appearance. However, they quickly found their stride and were 0-5 to 0-1 up after 15 minutes. Ollie Maguire scored four frees in the first half to keep Leitrim 0-8 to 0-4 ahead at the break.

After the re-start, JohnÓgilbane fired to the net to put the result beyond doubt. In the end, Leitrim ran out winners by 1-12 to 0-7.

The now face Waterford in the All-Ireland Final after the Munster champions defeated the British champions, Lancashire in Manchester by 1-17 to 0-9.
