FBD Connacht League – Leitrim v Mayo
FBD CONNACHT LEAGUE (3rd and final group game)
Leitrim 0-2 Mayo 1-11.
Leitrims hopes of reaching the FBD home final were crushed by a superior Mayo outfit in Ballinamore today. A large crowd of home and visiting supporters turned up to the venue expecting a close encounter following on from Leitrims impressive display against GMIT. Although Leitrim started brightly and were making good moves in the forward line, they couldnt convert their possession into scores. At the other end Mayo were taking their chances and led 0-8 to 0-1 at half time with Leitrims score a superb point from Brian McDonald. The second half was low Scóring but Mayo were still dominant in all sectors and they killed off any chance of a comeback with Aidan Kilcoyne netting. Colm Maguire scored Leitrims second half point from a placed ball as injury time approached. It was disappointing for Leitrim but as ever they will put their shoulders to the wheel, address the defeat and prepare for next Sunday when Clare will be the visitors to Pairc Sean in the first game in the Allianz Division 4 League. Please continue your support for your Senior County team.
