Minor A Final 2011
All roads lead to Pairc Séan this Sunday for County Final Day.
In the Minor decider its Glencar-Manor v Ballinamore-Séan O Heslins at 1-30pm and St Marys v Glencar-Manor in the Senior Game at 3-30pm. In the Minor A Championship there were 7 teams namely St Marys, Melvin Gaels, St Francis, St Manachans, Drumkeerin, Ballinamore-SOH and Glencar-Manor. Back on the 20th July when the Championship started it was the ambition of all 7 teams to reach the County Final but there can only be two finalists……Glencar-Manor topped the table on 10 points winning 5 out of the 6 games played and incidently the team they lost to was Ballinamore SOH so Im sure they will want to make ammends to that on Sunday. Ballinamore finished on 8 points together with Drumkeerin and St Manachans so it ended in a three way play-off to decide who would joinÓglencar-Manor in the final. The draw was done and on Wednesday 7th September in Kiltubrid Ballinamore and Drumkeerin were first to play with Ballinamore winning by a single point on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-08, this was a great turn around for Ballinamore as only the week previous in Round 7 Ballinamore were defeated by Drumkeerin on a score of 3-12 to 3-07. Next up a week later at the same venue was St Manachans who in Round 3 of the Championship were narrowly defeated by Ballinamore on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-09 and who Im sure hoped that this time they could turn the result around and earn themselves a place in the Final. Unfortunatly for St Manachans this was not to be even though the game was a tightly fought high Scóring contest Ballinamore won out, this time by 2 points on a score of 4-07 to St Manachans 3-08. No doubt these two games should be of great benefit to Ballinamore and with Glencar-Manor not having had a game since the 31st August Ballinamore must feel they have put in the match practice for Sundays final. On the other hand Im sure the Manor lads are hoping they can turn their earlier defeat by Ballinamore into a win and lift the coveted Trophy on Sunday afternoon. We wish both Teams, Ballinamore-SOH and Glencar-Manor the Best of Luck in the Final and also St Marys and Glencar-Manor in the Senior decider, we hope it is an enjoyable and memorable day for all.
