Ballinamore Club Notes – 22 August 2017
*Senior Championship*
Having already secured a place in this year’s quarter finals the lads are again in action in Cloone, this time on Saturday at 19:00 where they face Mohill, hopefully the lads can continue their fine form and cement their place at the top of the group with a victory. Hopefully as many of you as possible can make the trip to Cloone to cheer them on.
*Rose of Tralee*
A big well done to our Leitrim Rose Erin Moran, Erin has been a brilliant ambassador for Leitrim and Ballinamore and has been an inspiration to everyone she has met during her time as a rose. Despite not reaching the final Erin should be very proud of everything she has done. She is certainly a winner in our eyes and everyone in Ballinamore and Leitrim are very proud of her and she will always be a winner in our eyes.
*Junior B*
The lads were in action on Sunday against a strong Fenagh team, Fenagh were too strong on this occasion and won by a score of 3:10 to 1:14
*Junior A*
Well done to the Junior A lads who had another good victory this time over Gael na Meilge winning by 1:14 to 0:8. The Victory leaves the lads finishing the group in First place and securing a quarterfinal place. Well done lads !!!
*Under 15*
Another great match for Cill Mhor Gaels as they ran out victors by a score of 7:10 to 1:12 against Gortletteragh. The win leaves the lads in 4th place with 6 points after five games played
U16 Ladies win Championship opener with the last kick of the game!
*Sean O’Heslin’s 6-8 – Keeldra Gaels 6-5*
Massive well done to all of our U16’s who got their 11/13-a-side Championship off to a winning start with a three point win over Keeldra Gaels. In what was a fiercely contested game throughout, the only thing that separated the teams was a last second penalty and the players on both sides are a credit to their clubs for putting on such a brilliantly exciting display of football. There were too many standout performers to name and hopefully the trend continues in our next match! That is set to be this Sunday at 11am vs Drumkeerin – venue to be confirmed.
Team: Erin Keegan, Emma Honeyman, Siobhan Flynn, Mollie Murphy, Abbi Sweeney, Megan McGovern (1-1), Laoise Moran King (1-1), Grainne Prior (0-1), Niamh Donohoe (0-2), Eadaoin Murphy (1-2), Michaela Harte (1-0).
Subs Used: Lily Byrne (2-1), Aoibhin McGoldrick.
*Ballinamore Festival Ninja Final*
Well done to Ballinamore on winning the ninja final !!! They defeated the willies in a titanic battle in the semi-finals before clinching victory in the final against a mixed team. This was a great event and was certainly enjoyed by all the spectators who were there to watch it, hopefully this is not the last final the lads win this year !!!!!
*Ballinamore Festival Blitz*
A big thank you to all the Clubs, players, parents and mentors for making the Ballinamore festival blitz a great success. We had teams, from Garadice Gaels, Fenagh, Kiltubrid at u8 and u10 with both mixed, boys and girls teams taking part. Special thanks to the local gardai for sponsoring the medals
*Minor Ladies make a winning Championship start!*
Congratulations to the Sean O’Heslin’s minor girls, who are amalgamated with St Joseph’s, on their 5-12 to 5-4 victory over Carrick-Annaduff yesterday evening. It was a tight game throughout but a couple of goals inside the final ten minutes from Emma McGovern and Megan O’Rourke – who scored an impressive 2-4 apiece – ensured a winning start to this season’s Championship. It was a brilliant performance and especially from our U14 All-Ireland Champions, Emma Honeyman, Megan McGovern, Mollie Murphy and Niamh Donohoe, who made their debuts at minor level. The future is bright!
Team: Juliette Lockhart, Michaela Harte, Kiera Masterson, Grainne Prior, Laoise Moran King (0-1), Abi Sweeney, Mollie Murphy, Maeve Hamill (0-3), Emma McGovern (2-4), Megan McGovern, Genevieve Canning, Niamh Donohoe, Grace Wrynn (1-0), Megan O’Rourke (2-4), Aoife McCartin.
