Annual Golf Classic
The Annual Allen Gaels Classic was held in Carrick Golf club last Saturday last and was a very successful club event with a large number of teams participating. A special word of thanks to our main sponsor Sean McTigue New York and also to the McGuire family for putting up the magnificent perpetual cup in honour of the late James McGuire. We had many other sponsors on the day including Beirne Coatings, Joe Gunning, K-wood, Paul Martin (OBN), Scollan’s Gala, Declan Moran, Bo Peep Preserves, IFEC, The Shed Distillery, Gibbons Centra, Enda McGloin, Tom Scollan, Little Wonders, Marius Takeaway, Setia Construction, Jinnys Bakery, Westlink Coaches, P McManus Construction. There were many great scores on the day with the team of Tommy Aherne, Declan Loftus and Jason Loftus winning out on the day. Best ladies team was Dolores Mulvey, Kathleen Loftus and Marian Fahy with the longest drive going to Caleb Duffy and nearest the pin to Niall Loftus. A word of thanks to Captain of the Golf society Chris Fahy for all his help and the society in general for providing so many players on the day. The day was made all the easier thanks to excellent help and cooperation from Chris Lowe at the golf club.
