Allen Gaels GAA Club Notes 30/10/2017

U-21 Championship: St. Francis had a comfortable win against St. Mary’s Bornacoola in the opening round of the 13 aside championship on Sunday morning in the park. A good start is half the battle and we led 3-06 to no score after 15 minutes & it was 3-10 to 1-00 at the break & we added a flurry of scores in the second half. Scorers were: Wayne Reynolds 2-08; Gareth Higgins 2-00; Cian Beirne 1-01; Niall McGourty 1-01; Kevin Moran 1-00; Padraig Clarke 1-00; Ciaran Walsh 0-02; Michael Crawford 0-01; Kyle Flynn 0-01; Ryan Crawford 0-01; Caleb Duffy 0-01. We play Kiltubrid away next Sunday morning at 12noon. Best of luck to the team & management.

U-16 Girls: The girls have a couple of games to play in what is the last underage competition of the year. Best of luck to them in their remaining fixtures.

AGM: Please take note that the Club AGM takes place on November 26th at 5pm in the clubhouse. More details in coming weeks.

Leitrim U-16’s: Hard luck to the U-16’s who lost out to Offaly in the Fr. Manning Cup on Saturday 3-12 to 2-10 but congratulations on a great performance away to Laois on Monday winning by 2-14 to 1-05. Well done to Colin Moran for representing the club so well in the competition. Best of luck to the team when they travel to Meath next Saturday.

Connacht Club Championship:  Best wishes to Mohill who play Castlebar Mitchells away on Saturday next.

25 Card Drive: Allen Gaels 25 Card Game continues every  Sunday evening in Aras Phadraig at 8:30pm. Refreshments served. All welcome.

Lotto: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot & the numbers drawn were 05-15-18-24. The 5 prize winners of €20 each were: Seamus Keane, Drumshanbo; Aoife, James & Emma Barry, Drumshanbo; Terry Mann, Jamestown; Pauric Sweeney, Mahanagh and Louise Keaney, Aughacashel. The jackpot now stands at €1,700. Also a reminder that annual lotto tickets are available from any club officers for €85 for the year.

New Arrival: Congratulations to Conor O’Brien & Irene McCormack on the birth of their son, Bobby, last week.

Sympathy: The Club extends deepest condolences to the Moran Family on the very sad passing of Mrs Peggy Moran, Convent Avenue, who was laid to rest last Thursday. A guard of honour was performed at the church as a mark of respect and our thoughts & prayers are with Aidan, Fergus, Maeve, Ann & their families at this difficult time. Ar dheis De go raibh a h-anam. Sincere sympathy also to O’Rourke & Kehoe Families on the sudden passing in London of Colm O’Rourke, Lisnabrack, Manorhamilton in recent weeks. May he rest in peace
