Reeling in the years – 2017 – It was a successful year our Junior team who gained promotion to Division 3 after reaching the league final but were narrowly defeated by Carrigallen. Belnaleck GAA reached the Ulster Junior Final, having won the Fermanagh County Final, led by Aughawillan man Gerry Flanagan. There was also All-Ireland winners in the Master’s Competition, with Longford/Leitrim defeating Kildare in the final, with Pat Flanagan & Ollie Plunkett representing Aughawillan. Noel & Gary Plunkett and the Leitrim Junior Footballers beat Mayo to win the Connaught Final earlier this year before losing out to Kerry in the All-Ireland Semi-Final. Aughawillan was also represented by Morgan Quinn on the Leitrim Hurling Team who reached the Lory Meagher Final held in Croke Park against Lancashire. Congratulations to Maeve Quinn who was presented with the Leitrim Sports Star Hall of Fame Award for her contribution to Ladies’ Football throughout the years.
