Aughawillan GAA Club Notes 26/03/2018
Dunnes Bar Division 1 – The league kicks off this Saturday, with Aughawillan having their first Division 1 game of the year against Ballinaglera in Aughawillan at 6.30pm. Come out and support the team at the start of the new year!

Ladies Football – Hard luck to the Ladies’ Junior team who lost by one point to Annaduff last Sunday. Keep up to date with the Ladies’ team on their new Facebook page – Aughawillan Ladies GFC.
Poker Classic – Aughawillan GAA are holding their traditional Good Friday Poker Classic in Aughawillan Community Centre on Friday, March 30th at 9.30pm. Registration from 9. Entry €20, rebuys €5, 50/50 cash prizes. Refreshments served on the night. All welcome to come along to what is always a very enjoyable night.
Dublin – Aughawillan Sponsored Cycle – All our cyclists have been on their bikes preparing for the cycle, as well as fundraising and wish to thank all those who have sponsored them so far. There are a number of events coming up to fundraise for the cycle: First, up is a ‘Dublin Aughawillan Diaspora & Friends’ night out in The Ferryman in Dublin on Sat. 14th April at 9pm. There will be members of the cycling team and the club executive present on the night. All welcome to The Ferryman for an enjoyable social occasion for all. On the May Bank Holiday weekend, Noel Gilheany and Pat Flanagan are holding a 5km & 10km Walk & Run. Details to follow in the coming weeks. There will also be a bucket collection at Supervalu and Tesco that weekend, with details of a Church Gate collection to follow. Pat Joe McNiffe has also commenced a clothes collection to fundraise for the cycle. On the cycling front there are a number of cycle events coming up in which may be of interest to the cyclists and all looking to get on their bikes – April 22nd: The “Ring of Cuilcagh” organized by The Smugglers CC, Ballyconnell. There are 3 distance options available- 55km, 90km &120km – see their Facebook page for details.
Cycle against Suicide May 6th – The 9th stage of the national ‘Cycle against Suicide’ runs from Carrick on Shannon to Mullingar and is 86km in length – this can be booked through the ‘Cycle against Suicide’ website. Donations can also now be made online using Klubfunder, the link can be found on our Facebook page. We appreciate any and all donations and sponsorship that can be made to the cyclists and we ask that you support and encourage all 20 cyclists in any way possible as they prepare for the event in May. Comhghairdeas – Aughawillan GAA would like to congratulate Kevin McTague and Derbhile Convey on their recent engagement. We wish them many happy and healthy years together.
Allianz Leagues 2018 – It was a mixed weekend for the Leitrim county teams, with the hurlers losing the Division 3B final to Lancashire 1-25 to 1-18, and the footballers having a comprehensive win over Wicklow 2-15 to 10 points.
Corraleehan Parish Walk – Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see you, everyone welcome.
