Aughavas GAA Club Notes 23/04/2018
LOTTO – The next draw is on Saturday 29th April in “The Dugout” and will be co-ordinated by St Joseph’s Ladies. The Lotto jackpot is €10,700. Envelopes €2 or three for €5.
FIXTURES – Well done to our Div 3 Team who had a good win over Fenagh last Saturday evening in Aughavas. They play Gortletteragh on Saturday 28th at 7pm in Gortletteragh. Our Div 4 team also secured a win over St Mary’s in Carrick on Sunday 22nd. They have an away game in St Osnatts on Sunday 29th at 12 noon against Dromahair.
ST JOSEPH’S BOYS – It was a weekend of Shields at underage with both our U13’s and U17’s teams in Shield finals.
Barna Recycling U13’s – Our U13’s took to the field on Friday evening last in Aughavas against a determined Dromahair team. We played into the breeze in the first half and took a little time to settle into the game conceding an early goal and a point. However, the fightback started, even though we were 4 points down at halftime we had the momentum and with excellent performances and the hard work rate from every member of the team we ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-11 to 3-4. Well done lads, keep working hard and look forward to the championship. Thanks to Mary Kenny, Secretary of Coiste na Nog for presenting the Shield. Our U13 Team – Fionan Harte, Kevin Doherty, Cian Dolan, Padraig Maguire, Jack McIntyre, Eanna McNamara, Ben Harte, Kalum McLoughlin, Liam McIntyre, Matthew McCabe, Darren Shortt, Gary Mitchell, Cian McHugh, Joey McBrien, Harry Wilson, Tommy Kearney, Conor Shortt, Gavin Gallogly, Naoise Feeney and Conor Downes. Coaches – Fintan McBrien, Padraig McLoughlin, Ciaran Harte & Noel Shortt.
Newtowngore Engineering 17’s – On Saturday afternoon in Carrigallen our U17’s played Fenagh in the Shield Final. These lads got off to a good start and stayed in control going in at halftime 2-9 to 1-4 ahead. It was a tighter contest in the second half with both teams displaying great football. The final score was St Joseph’s 4-13 to Fenagh 3-7. Well done to the team and management. Thanks to Coiste na Nog Chairman Gerry Gallogly for presenting the Shield. Westlink Coaches U15’s – Our U15’s start their league campaign with a trip to Manorhamiliton on Thursday evening, best of luck to all.
Training – Training continues for U9/U11 on Saturday morning in Aughavas, all involved will be notified by text.
SPRING CLEAN 2018 – Thanks to all who answered the call on Saturday last for our community spring clean. What a great result 26 bags of rubbish taken off our roads in the Parish. The R201 from Meiltron to Drumshanbo North, the Fenagh road down as far as the Community Centre and the Augharan road.
