Melvin Gaels GAA Club Notes 06/04/2018
Games Last Weekend – On Saturday evening last the Senior team took on Glencar/ Manorhamilton in the first game in the Senior League. Despite making a great start to the game and going four points ahead, the Gaels did not keep up the momentum and finished up second best. Final score Glencar/ Manorhamilton 2-12, Melvin Gaels 1-8.
Next up for the Seniors is Sean O Heslin’s, Ballinamore at 6.30pm next Saturday evening in Ballinamore. Good Luck to all the players and mentors.
The Junior team took on a strong Carrigallen team in Melvin Park on Sunday last in Division 2 and despite playing some good football were beaten on a scoreline of Carrigallen 2-12, Melvin Gaels 0-9. This was a good performance by the Gaels considering many of these young players were playing their first game at this level.
This team now take on Sean O Heslins in the second game of Division 2 on Sunday at 12 noon in Ballinamore. Good Luck to all.
Cyclathon – Thanks to everyone who helped out with the Cyclathon last Saturday and thanks to everyone who donated on the day. A special word of thanks to the premises who allowed the Cyclathon to take place, Simpsons, Kinlough , Spar, Kinlough and Rogers Filling Station, Tullaghan.
Easter Camp – Gaeil Na Meilge Easter Camp 2018 – Thursday 5th April & Friday 6th April 2018 10am to 2pm. €30 a child, sibling discount of €5 per additional child. Click on the link to download an application form and pay online.

Sympathy – The Club extends deepest sympathy to the Rooney Family, Straclerin, Glenade on the death of mother , Kathleen Rooney. Kathleen is grandmother of Gaels and Leitrim player Darragh. May she rest in peace.
Gaelic4 Mothers and Others – Melvin Gaels Gaelic4Mothers and Others are now entering their 8th year in existence. For those unfamiliar with the programme Gaelic4Mothers and Others is a non – competitive, recreational initiative for women who have not played football before or who have not played in a long time. We are always open to accept new members.Training takes place on Wednesday evenings at 8pm in Melvin Park. Physical fitness + Craic guaranteed!! For more information contact Anne at 0871337968.
