Bornacoola GAA Club Notes 17/05/2018
Golf Classic – Bornacoola GAA hosted our bi-annual golf classic on Saturday last in Carrick on Shannon Golf Club. We had a great day weatherwise on Saturday and the golf course was in good condition. A special word of thanks to Kevin and the staff at Carrick on Shannon Golf club for his help. We would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank all those who sponsored tees, greens, those who paid for teams, played in the classic, provided beverages, food, golf prizes and spot prizes for the event. It is all much appreciated . A special mention and appreciation must be reserved for Chief Co-ordinator, our golfing supremo Micheal McGowan who basically organised the whole event with meticulous planning and hard work over the last few weeks. Well done Micheal. The results and prize winners on the day are as follows; 1st Pat & Gerry King , Pat Connellan and Coman Neary 2nd Jason Conroy , Niall McGowan, Tony Shanley and Noel McEnroe 3rd Shane Keville, Sylvester Kivlehan, Paddy Dunne and Padraig Reynolds; 4th Patricia Bohan , Kevin Daly , Michelle Hackett and Dorothy O Connor: 5th Sean Costello, Doc Healy, Alan Farry and Neil Quinn; 6th Liam Faughnan, Tim Shanley & Annaduff GAA; 7th Micheal & Margaret Mcgowan, Sean Mcgowan and Enda McGloin; 8th Jackie Conboy, Kevin Kilraine, Ollie Gilhooley and Rob Cleary; 9th Seamus Mallon Team. Underage News – Training will continue for all age groups on Saturday mornings at 10.30 am sharp. We are asking this year if all players could be there on time as it makes it easier for coaches for setting up drills. Please also ensure your child wears a gum shield to all training sessions. If your child has not registered please contact Suzanne Maguire on 087 3898205 as we will need everyone registered for insurance purposes.
Parish Clean Up On Saturday, May 5th – The club co-ordinated the annual clean-up of the roadsides in the Bornacoola parish area as part of the National Spring clean. A special word of thanks to all who assisted with the clean-up. It was yet again an eye-opener to see the amount and type of rubbish dumped on our roads. It could be argued that pay-by-weight charges could encourage more of it. Without a doubt, Ireland’s litter problem requires behavioural change and more personal responsibility.
Clothes Collection – Our Annual Clothes collection will this year take place on Saturday morning, July 14th – so start gathering together your old clothes and clobber etc for collection on that day. Contact Noel McCloskey at 087 6454317 who will organise collection if needed.
Congratulations – Our congratulations to Gerard and Orla Moffett, Dromard on the birth of baby Sean last week- a brother to Sam. Hopefully a future footballer for the black and amber!
