Bornacoola GAA Club Notes 26/06/2018
Damian shines for Leitrim – Well done to Damian Moran and his Leitrim team mates on a top notch championship victory against Louth in Páirc Seán on Saturday last. It was a hugely impressive display and due reward for the Leitrim supporters who have stayed loyal to the team. Damian put in one of his most composed performances scoring 0-6 from play. This Saturday afternoon Leitrim face one of the country’s top [ teams when Monaghan come to Carrick. Best of luck to all involved and we hope there is a large Leitrim support on hand as it is the least our young team deserve.
Sympathy – The sympathies of the club are extended to the Kennedy family, Finiskill Mohill on the sad passing of Mary (nee Gallogly). Mary was a great Gael and served the Mohill club with distinction in a variety of different roles. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.
Division 4- Our Junior team played their final league game of the year on Saturday last when they took on Leitrim Gaels with a place in the league final on the line. Unfortunately the Gaels made a bright start scoring two early goals and from there we never quite managed to recover, despite finding the net on three occasions ourselves. Final score was 3-5 to 2-11 and while there was disappointment at not making the league final, it was nonetheless a season of much progress in the league. Well done to Brian Mallon and Aidan Reilly for their work to date – championship is now the big test and the Bors will be hoping to build on their good league season.
U12 Cross Border Plate – Our U12’s travel to Leo Casey Park in Ballymahon on Thursday next in the U12 plate their opposition will be Forgney/Ballymahon. Last Thursday, we hosted St Vincents but despite a really good performance fell to an unfortunate 4-10 to 2-10 defeat.
U-11 Boys – Bornacoola played their near neighbours Gortletteragh on Monday evening in a very sporting and evenly matched Under 11 game. Early exchanges were fast and furious and the Bors were equal to the pace. It was fantastic to witness the skills of the game displayed by players so young and it was great to see such a high level of support from both clubs. The panel were as follows;Elly Conboy, Evan Bohan, Elana Kilrane, Conor Reynolds, Noah Beck, Kian McCormack, Jack Naughton, James McDowell, John Mc Garry, Rory Lanigan, Nessa O’Riordan, Rian Shanley, Kealan Lyons. Many thanks to Kevin Mallon for giving of his time to referee the match
