Drumkeerin GAA Club Notes 23/07/2018
Smith Monumentals Intermediate Championship – the first group game is upon us, we play against Cloone on Saturday at 7pm in Drumshambo. Last time we met them was only last year in the quarter finals, a very tight game which we won late. The game is set to be a great opener, come out and support the team in their opener.
Dunnes Bar Division One – We had our final league game away vs Mohill last Saturday. It was a tough game, both teams trading points in a physical match. We trailed by two points at half time and pressing late on in the game challenged a strong Mohill outfit down til the dying minutes. The full time score was Drumkeerin 1-10 (13) to Mohill 0-16. The last game of the league is a home game and will be played against Glencar/Manorhamilton after the Championship has been finished.
Pyramid Bookmakers Junior Championship – Our junior men’s championship starts the afternoon after our intermediate opener. The lads will be playing against Gortletteragh in Ballinamore at 1.30pm Sunday, July 29th. After some good performances with the junior league team to finish near the top of the table, the championship team will be hoping to emulate those performances. Come out to support and cheer the lads on
Ladies Intermediate Championship – Hard luck to the ladies last weekend on their defeat to a very good Bornacoola/St Marys last Sunday. We wish Bridget Gallagher a speedy recovery after getting injured in the match. The girls have two matches left in the campaign against Mohill and St Francis, updates of the fixtures will be posted through our social media pages.
Newtowngore Engineering U17 Championship – our U17 lads played Ballinamore on Monday evening, it was a tight match full of action. Ballinamore won by 0-18 to 1-10. The lads are out against Fenagh next Monday at 7.30pm in Drumkeerin. Come out and support these young men, they’ve won two of three of their championship matches so far and are going strong.
Barna Recycling U13 Championship – well done to our young U13 team who beat Melvin Gaels 6-07 (25) to 1-04 (7) down on the pitch. That’s two wins from two and they sit at the top of the table with their next game against St Brigids on Thursday, 26th July, at 7:30pm. Venue to be decided but it will be posted on our social media pages
