Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 21/08/2018
Senior & Junior Championships – Our Senior team play St Mary’s in Round 4 of the Championship this Saturday evening at 6.30 pm in Drumshanbo. Our Junior B team play Bornacoola at 1.30 pm on Sunday in Páirc Seán. Good luck to both teams, please show your support. Well done to our Junior A team who had a comprehensive victory over Melvin Gaels on Saturday evening in their last group game. The result sees them qualify for the quarter finals versus Mohill and the game will be fixed for Saturday September 1st.
Senior Ladies – Congrats to our Senior Ladies who have reached the Senior Championship final for the first time in the club’s history following victory over Dromahair last weekend. For the supporters who travelled to Páirc Seán on Sunday morning last they were treated to an exciting game of football which saw the lead change on numerous occasions throughout the game. The game was fast paced with tenacious defensive work and hard-working forward play on show. The tight encounter saw the sides level after normal time and send the game to extra time with the Manor girls claiming their spot in the final on a scoreline of 5-14 to 5-12. They will play the reigning champions St Joseph’s in the final. We wish the team all the very best in their preparations.
Annual Club Camp – Our Fox Monumentals & MacManus Pharmacies sponsored Annual Glencar Manor Club Camp took place last week with record numbers in attendance. We were all in awe of the wonderful children who were a joy to coach over the 3 days. We thank the parents for entrusting their children in our care, our 30 plus club volunteer coaches for giving freely of their talent and expertise under the watchful eye of our brilliant club co-ordinator James Glancy, Sheila McMorrow, Dominic Kelly and Kevin McManus for expertly organising the event, our volunteer helpers and caterers for keeping the coaches fed and watered over the 3 days and finally Kieran Fox (Fox Monumentals) and John MacManus (MacManus Pharmacies) for jointly sponsoring the camp which is an investment in the future players for Glencar Manor and the GAA clubs in North Leitrim. Each child received a small gift to mark their attendance and they were all delighted to get their Glencar Manor bobble hat which we are sure they will wear with pride while playing or supporting our club. We do hope all the children enjoyed the camp and we look forward to welcoming them back again next year.
Annual Clothes Collection Fundraiser – Glencar Manor GAA Annual Clothes Collection continues during the month of August. Dermot McMorrow is co-ordinating and bags can be dropped to him every Wednesday evening during August at the Bee Park Dressing Rooms between 6-7pm. 50th Celebration – On the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our great club. Events will be ran throughout the weekend so do be sure to keep it free in your diaries. We hope it will be a gathering of the many people at home and abroad who down through the years represented, officiated, sponsored and supported Glencar Manor. This is an open invitation to everyone who has or had an association with us from 1969 to the present day. More details to follow.

Their final minor league game is home to Fenagh Kiltubrid which is scheduled for the weekend of 25th 26th August, however this is still subject to change.
