Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 29/08/2018
Our Junior A team play Mohill in the Quarter Finals of the Pyramid Bookmakers Leitrim Junior A Football Championship on Saturday the 1st September in Leitrim Village at 4.45pm. Good Luck to the team and management. Please show your support.
Senior Ladies – All roads lead to Pairc Sean this Saturday evening at 6.30pm where our Senior Ladies side face reigning champions St Josephs in the Senior Championship Final. This is the first time in the club’s history that the girls have reached the Senior County decider and your support as always would be very much appreciated.
In preparation for the event the girls would like to acknowledge the generous sponsorship of McPartland Fuels/Sligo Fuels and MacManus Pharmacy who sponsored new tops for the girls and also
Kieran and Collette Fox, Fox Monumentals who sponsored food for the girls in the build up to the final.
Academy – Two of our academy teams travelled to the annual tournament in Kinawley. The older age group captained by Amy Malone brought home silverware as they won their competition. The younger age group performed very well and just fell short in their semi final. Thanks to the team mentors Dominic Kelly, Ciaran Sheridan and James Glancy for all their hard work, thanks to all the parents who travelled to support and to our friends in Kinawley for once again putting on an excellent tournament.
Annual Clothes Collection Fundraiser – Glencar Manor GAA Annual Clothes Collection this is the last opportunity to donate. Dermot McMorrow is co-ordinating and bags can be dropped to him this Wednesday evening at the Bee Park Dressing Rooms between 6-7pm. Items accepted – clean dry clothes, pairs of shoes, curtains, bed linen and towels, handbags and belts. Dermot can be contacted on 086 1768533 for further details.
50th Celebration – On the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our great club. Events will be ran throughout the weekend so do be sure to keep it free in your diaries. We hope it will be a gathering of the many people at home and abroad who down through the years represented, officiated, sponsored and supported Glencar Manor. This is an open invitation to everyone who has or had an association with us from 1969 to the present day. More details to follow.
Sympathy – We offer our heartfelt sympathy to Rita O’Malley and family Dublin and the Gilbride family, Manorhamilton following the passing of Gabriel O’Malley, Dublin. Gabriel was a former Melvin Gaels great on the famous teams of the 50’s and 60’s and was a regular attendee at Leitrim GAA football matches but especially those involving Melvin Gaels and Glencar Manor. Although living in Dublin for many years his love for Leitrim never wavered and his annual attendance at the Launch of Leitrim Supporters in Dublin was testament to this and a highlight in his calendar. May Gabriel Rest In Peace.
