Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 11/09/2018
Senior & Junior Championships – Well done to our Senior team who have qualified for the Quarter Finals of the Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship. They defeated Allen Gaels by 5 points (1-8 to 0-16) on Saturday evening in their last group game. All roads lead to Páirc Seán this Saturday evening for the Quarter Finals when the team face Ballinamore SOH at 6pm. It’s knock-out from here on in so all support would be greatly appreciated by the team. Hard luck to our Junior B team who bowed out of the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior B Championship at the weekend with Aughawillan defeating them 2-9 to 1-6 in the quarter-final playoffs in Drumshanbo. Our Junior A team have been drawn against Carrigallen in the semi-finals of the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior A Championship and that fixture will take place on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd September.
Annual Clothes Collection Fundraiser – This is the last opportunity to donate as the collection is taking place this Thursday 13th September. Dermot McMorrow can be contacted on 086 1768533 to arrange same.
50th Celebration – On the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our great club. Events will be run throughout the weekend so do be sure to keep it free in your diaries. We hope it will be a gathering of the many people at home and abroad who down through the years represented, officiated, sponsored and supported Glencar Manor. This is an open invitation to everyone who has or had an association with us from 1969 to the present day. More details to follow.
Club Academy – Our Club Football Academy takes place every Friday evening in the Bee Park from 6.30 to 7.30pm.
Sympathy – We offer sympathy to the following families in our community who were recently bereaved. The McGoey family following the passing of Jimmy McGoey, Castle Street, Manorhamilton, the Clancy Family Manorhamilton following the death of their sister Margaret Cunningham (nee Clancy) in Kilkeel, County Down. Enda and Shane Healy and the extended Healy and Kelly families following the passing of Maggie Healy, Amorset. Maggie was a huge part of our community and a great supporter of our club supporting her sons when they played for us and the many events we ran down through the years. She will be greatly missed by many, many people. May their gentle souls Rest In Peace.
U9 and U11 Blitzes – Our U9s had a very enjoyable blitz against Dromahair on Friday evening last in Dromahair. Many thanks to the Dromahair Club for their hospitality. The U11s have a home blitz against Leitrim Gaels this Saturday.
U15 Boys – Our U15 boys commenced championship action on Tuesday 4th September away to Leitrim Gaels and were fully deserving of their 3-11 to 5-12 win in a very entertaining and competitive game of football. They play Dromahair this Tuesday (11th September) at 6.30 in Boggaun in Round 2 and St Mary’s away on Friday (14th September) at 6.30 in Round 3. We wish the team and management continued success and urge support to the team.
