Cloone GAA Club Notes 25/10/2018
Haunted Trail – On Saturday evening next October 27th we present our Annual Haunted Trail which takes place on Bothar na Naomh starting at 6 30 pm and continues on till 10 pm. Registration is at the Community Centre with a cost of € 8 and all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This has been a most popular event over the last number of years and this year’s trail looks set to surpass all previous events. This is a fundraiser for the club and your support is much appreciated. We would appreciate if as many volunteers as possible could be available on the evening to help with the running of the event.
Congratulations – Heartiest congratulations to Fenagh St Caillins who won the Smiths Monumentals Leitrim Intermediate Football Championship defeating Annaduff in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada on Sunday last. Commiserations to Annaduff who put up a gallant performance. Sunday last brought back many memories of when Fenagh St Caillins won their last Intermediate title when they beat us in the 1974 final in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada after what was regarded as one of the better games of that year.
Tournament – On Sunday next at 3pm we play Aughavas in the Gerry Keegan Memorial Tournament which is being held as part of the 40th anniversary of the opening of Aughavas GAA Grounds. All players are asked to be available for this game held in honour of a man who managed our team in the mid-nineties and was held in very high esteem by everybody in Cloone. Cloone NS will play Aughavas NS for the Shane McGovern memorial cup at 12 30. It promises to be a great day’s entertainment and we urge as many as possible from Cloone to support the event. Compliments to Aughavas GAA on organising this event.
Sympathy – We extend our sincere sympathy to our former player and team manager Declan McCabe on the death of his brother Philip, whose funeral took place in Termonfeckin in Co Louth on Tuesday.
