Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 22/01/2019
Congratulations Karl – Congratulations to our own Karl McDermott who has been awarded the Leitrim Senior County Hurler of the Year for 2018. He had some super performances for Leitrim in 2018 and this award is due recognition to this and is richly deserved. It is a great honour for Karl, his family and our club and we look forward to more stand out performances from him in the coming season for club and county. Karl will be presented with his award this Friday night at the Leitrim GAA Awards in the Bush Hotel.
New Arrival – We offer the heartiest of congratulations to our senior footballers Amanda and James Glancy on the safe arrival of their baby boy Finn recently.
5K Walk – We had a great turnout for our 5k walk last Thursday night in association with Get Ireland Walking and Operation Transformation. It continues this Thursday night for a further 5 weeks. We look forward to welcoming more participants with registration at 7pm in the Dressing Rooms in the Bee Park.
Fair Play Ado – Former Leitrim and Glencar Manor Senior footballer Adrian O’Flynn is doing mighty with his daily swims in the rivers/lakes/sea in January to raise much-needed funds for our new pitch development. Check out our Facebook Page for videos and to see how you can support. We again commend Adrian for coming up with this initiative, for braving the cold waters on our behalf and to everyone who is joining him or supporting him and our club by making very generous donations.
Club Awards Night – Our club awards night will take place on Saturday 16th February at 8pm in the Bee Park Community Centre. More details to follow.
Registration Night – We will be holding our two Registration Nights for all players and supporters to pay their membership for the 2019 season on Friday 8th and Friday 15th of February from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School. All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.

Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February, 2019.
Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s. They are needed for our 50th club celebrations. Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.
Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. We are also trying to compile the names of all club officers/managers/club award winners since the club was formed – so if you were an officer/manager/award winner – please forward any information you can. Please email any correspondence you have to glencarmanorladies@gmail.com.
