Mohill GAA Club Notes 07/01/2019
AGM – Our AGM was very well attended on Friday last in the Clubrooms. Most of the officers held their positions and all were complemented on their good work during 2018. Colm Conway remains as secretary and will have Orlaith Gordon to assist him for the coming term. Treasurer Lisa Boyle gave a detailed account of all transactions during the year, which showed the Club in a healthy state. Seamus Mitchell took over as Chairman from Padraig McLoughlin who bowed out after seven successful years at the helm. We congratulate Seamus on his new role and with good experience at Bord na nÓg level he will be well capable. We take this opportunity to thank Padraig for the great things he achieved during his tenure. As he said himself in his emotional address, there were highs and lows, plenty of success and a few disappointments but he always put the Club first. We thank Padraig and know he will be always on hand to help out.
Connacht Scór Final – We wish the best of luck to our very talented Amelia Pajak in the Connacht Finals on Sunday next in Claremorris, the Club is very proud of this young lady.
County Game – The County team started the New Year with a great display against Mayo, a team that would have visions of winning the All Ireland. Well done to Shane Quinn and Domhnaill Flynn our reps on Sunday last.
Bon Voyage – Safe journey back to Australia to Derek and Kelly Canning and family and Deirdre McDermott and husband Steve. They had a joyous Christmas with their families
Nollaig na mBan – We thank Spirit Bar for providing splendid and plentiful food for the Mohill Club ladies who held their annual Nollaig na mBan celebrations on Saturday night. A great night was had by all
Brian Mulvey – We extend deepest sympathy to St Mary’s on the untimely death of their stalwart member Brian Mulvey. Brian was the friendly face in Pairc Seán on the big days as head steward and was conspicuous by his absence on Sunday last. This PRO enjoyed his company in the Millennium Choir for many years. He will be sorely missed by his daughter Bronagh, his partner Geraldine and his brothers and sisters. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.
