Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 21/05/2019
50th Celebrations – We will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our club on the coming August Bank Holiday weekend with a full programme of events currently being planned to cater for everyone. All those associated with the club down through the years as supporters/players/officials/members are invited to join the current club personnel and supporters in celebrating 50 great years of club activities and friendships. The full programme of events will be published in the coming weeks but do keep the weekend free.
Club Camp – We will host our Annual Club Camp from Wednesday 31st July to Friday 2nd August inclusive in the Bee Park and the 3 day event will form part of our 50th Club celebrations. The price of the camp will include the new Glencar Manorhamilton GAA Club Jersey which will incorporate the 50th logo at a cost of only €40 per child. For those only wishing to attend the camp it will cost €20 per child. Demand for the camp is expected to be huge as usual so advance booking will be mandatory once it is open.
Adult Fixtures and Results – Our 3rd team were defeated by 4 points by Bornacoola in an away fixture on Sunday while our Seniors were winners over Allen Gaels in Drumshanbo on Saturday evening. This Sunday our Seniors host Gortletteragh in Boggaun at 2pm with the Intermediates playing directly afterwards against Aughavas at 3.45. It is a very long time since we hosted a doubleheader on a Sunday. They always attracted a bumper crowd and this Sunday should be no different. Good luck to both teams and management.
Senior Ladies – This coming Sunday our Senior Ladies take on the county champions St Joseph’s in the Division 1 league at 11am in Carrigallen while our 2nd team take on St Francis afterwards at 1.30pm in Drumshanbo. Best of luck to both teams and their management. Please support.
Leitrim Minors – Hard luck to the Leitrim Minor team who were defeated by Mayo in the Connacht Championship last week. Our club was represented on the panel by Jack Faulkner and Hugh Clancy.
Leitrim Ladies – Hard luck to the Leitrim Ladies Senior and U16 teams who were both defeated by Roscommon in the Connacht Championship at the weekend. Our club was represented by Natasha McEnroy, Karen Connolly and Aoife Gilmartin on the Senior panel and by Muireann Devaney, Mairead Clancy, Emma McGloin, Niamh Loughlin, Maeve McMorrow, Rachel Conlon and Emily Conlon all on the U16 panel.
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Finals – Well done to Diffreen, Largy and Glenfarne National Schools who were winners at the Cumann na mBunscol Finals held over the weekend.
U15 Boys – The U15’s had a convincing win at home to St Joseph’s last week. This Monday evening (20th May) they travel to take on St Brigid’s at 7.30pm in Aughawillan while on Thursday they host Gortletteragh at 7pm in Boggaun in what will be their last group game and hence decide all final league placings. Good luck to the team and management and please show your support.
U11 Blitz – Our young footballers had a great evening of football playing against Dumkeerin and Allen Gaels in the Bee Park last Tuesday evening.
U8/U10/U12 Girls – Training for these groups of players takes place every Monday evening from 7-8pm in the Bee Park.
Speedy Recovery – All from the club extend good wishes to our star player Niamh Loughlin who broke her leg playing soccer for Sligo/Leitrim at the weekend.
Sympathy – We offer sincere sympathy to the family of the late Margaret McTernan, Upper Main Street, Manorhamilton. May She Rest in Peace.
First Holy Communion – Congrats to the boys and girls from St Clare’s National School who made their First Holy Communion last Saturday. The boys and girls from, Diffreen and the Gaeilscoil Chluainín will celebrate in the coming weeks and we wish all the children a very happy, holy and fun-filled day.
Golden Jubilee Jerseys – Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club celebrates its Golden Jubilee this year, 2019. The August bank holiday weekend will feature the various aspects of the club, the official opening of our pitch at Boggaun and the launch of the club’s history. To mark our Jubilee we are in the process of having a completely new design on our Senior team jersey, which will carry the logo of our main sponsor, MacManus Pharmacies on the jersey front. There has been great interest expressed locally among the community to have another sponsor on the back of these unique jerseys. Interested parties would include local groups & organisations/employers/the self-employed/businesses or individuals and club members wishing to promote a charity close to their hearts. The club has decided that the fairest way to decide this, is to have a raffle among those interested, by selling tickets for same for €50 each (three for €100). The winner will be drawn at a special function, at which everyone will be very welcome to attend. The lucky winner will be featured on the back of the Senior team jerseys for Championship in 2019 and receive a jersey with their chosen number on it while all the other entrants will be acknowledged on an advertising hoarding at Boggaun and on our social media platforms. For logistical reasons, the logo will appear on the senior jerseys only and not on any replicas and will apply for the 2019 season, our very special Jubilee Year. If you are interested in buying a ticket or require further information please do not hesitate to contact either Ciaran Sheridan, Collette Fox, Phil Flynn, Padhraic Corrigan or Gerry Hickey Junior.
100K in May for Manor GAA – All the ladies are doing mighty. Don’t forget you can pledge a few euro towards their efforts by taking a line or two on the sponsorship cards in the shops around town or by donating to any of their Facebook pages. Ag siúl le chéile.
Cúl Camp – The Manorhamilton camp will take place from July 1st to the 5th. Further details for registering will be available on the Leitrim GAA website.
