Other Motions

That for championship purposes, that any team that plays Senior championship names 17 players that aren’t eligible to play second team championship football and a further 15 if they are entering a third team. Naomh Muire Cill Tochairt (Motion withdrawn)

That at any level within the county, a club should not enter a 15 a side competition, only knowingly having the intention to play 13 aside. Players on both sides are losing out on playing time, and this is unfair to players and is not in the spirit of our GAA ethos. Naomh Muire Cill Tochairt (Motion withdrawn in recognition of the fact that CCC Liatroma carries out grading)

Leitrim County Board trial a silent sideline at all underage games and actively promote it. Naomh Muire Cill Tochairt (Motion put forward as a recommendation to be trialled in 2022 at Under 9 and 11)

To accommodate clubs that do not have sufficient players to enter a second or third team, that these clubs be allowed to amalgamate together within their region and be entered into the Corrib Oil Junior C competitions only. This will ensure that ALL players within these clubs would be guaranteed football. Acadh na Síleann (Motion withdrawn)

In the event of a club’s home pitch not being playable, the given fixture (league or group stage championship) will automatically revert to the away team’s home ground. Should the away team’s home pitch also not be playable, the fixture should be moved to a neutral venue to be fixed by the CCC. Gortleitreach (Motion defeated)

CCC Liatroma has finalised the 2021 Masonite League Programme of Matches for clubs which will run from June 19 right through the month of July.  All of the 92 matches across the Leagues Divisions 1-3 and the Reserve Leagues 1-3  have been tightly scheduled across the limited timeframe for this activity to occur, in advance of the Club Championship action commencing in August. Each team is guaranteed four regular matches and it is also planned that the finals between the top two teams in each division will have taken place by the end of July. Saturday evening games will take place at 7pm, and Sunday’s action will generally take place at 1pm. Certain games have a later time on Sundays due to the fact that there are third teams of a number of clubs involved in the Reserve Leagues. It should be borne in mind that matches organised by Leitrim LGFA will have a starting time of 11am on each of the Sunday mornings and space in the calendar has been provided for this with no earlier than a 1pm throw-in time for Leitrim GAA activity.

We thank CCC Liatroma for its efforts in pulling all this together and wish all the clubs the very best of luck with the return to competitive action after over nine months of inactivity. All of the fixtures can be viewed here

Coiste Chontae Liatroma CLG is delighted to announce that it is renewing its partnership with Masonite Ireland in the substantial form of sponsorship of the 2020 Leitrim Adult Leagues which are due to commence this weekend.

Masonite Ireland and Leitrim GAA had a very fruitful relationship that lasted all of 11 years and concluded in 2009. Over that period, Masonite Ireland was the main Sponsor of all Leitrim Adult Teams and also the Leitrim Senior Football Championship.

This was a very successful time for Leitrim GAA, as it coincided with what was the most competitive era ever in the history of Leitrim GAA at club level with as many as 8 different clubs sharing the SFC titles during that period. At County level, we won a Connacht MFC title, contested a Connacht Under 21 Final in 1998 and also contested the Connacht SFC Final in 2000. Additionally, we had been extremely competitive with all challengers in the Connacht SFC during Masonite’s term as County Main Sponsor.

We are looking forward to having Masonite Ireland on board again as we move into the new decade. Our League Structures have been changed heading into this season and with clubs excitedly preparing for and looking forward to the new era in League Football, we thank Masonite for their investment in our future.

We also take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Paul Maye of Dunnes Bar and Swan Bar for the excellence of his support in sponsoring the Leagues over the past four seasons.

Following submissions from clubs and discussion at CCC meeting on Sun 2nd February, the following format for Under 17 League was proposed for 2020.

Division 1 will comprise of 4 teams

St Marys, Allen Gaels, Mac Diarmada Gaels, Mohill:

These shall play each other home and away, providing 6 games for each team,

At the conclusion of this round robin series the two top placed team will play in Final.

Division 2 will comprise of 10 teams

Annaduff, Drumkeerin, Dromahair, Fenagh, Leitrim Gaels, Gortletteragh, Melvin Gaels,

Glencar-Manorhamilton, St Josephs, St Brigids;

Each of these teams will have 6 games in round robin series (randomly generated by Gaa Servasport System) 3 home and 3 away,

At the conclusion of this round robin series the two top placed team will play in Final.

The above Format was formally adopted at Co Committee meeting on Mon 10th Feb.

Best wishes to St Patrick’s Dromahair’s Jamie Conlon who will participate in the 2019 TG4 Underdogs series. The show commences tomorrow night (Thursday) at 9.30pm. It is an honour for him personally, his club and his family and we wish him the best of luck on his journey.

The Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship and Smith Monumentals Intermediate Football Championship move smoothly into the knockout stages with eight matches down for decision next weekend. There is a measure of intrigue attached to all fixtures and it should prove to be an action-packed ‘Super Sunday’ commencing with the IFC derby clash of Annaduff and Bornacoola (Cloone 12 noon) and IFC Ballinaglera v Carrigallen (Drumshanbo 12 noon) and concluding with the ‘Clash of Champions’ Aughawillan and Mohill. who between them have captured the last five Senior Championship titles, in Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada at 6pm.
