Division 2 League Final – Congratulations to the team & management on a great win over Annaduff in the Division 2 League Final on Sunday in Pairc Sean on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-10. Despite a shaky start when we trailed by 4 points the lads settled into the game and after points from Martin Beirne (2), James Flynn & Thomas Mulvey, Ciaran Walsh struck for a goal in the 26^th minute after great work from Caleb Duffy & Alan Wynne. Just before the break Martin Raftery hit a lovely point from play and we went in level at the interval. Our first score of the second period was a goal when Martin Beirne reacted quickest after a great effort from James Flynn was saved. James was playing a captain’s role when he added 2 fine points from play in the 40^th & 42^nd minutes to keep us ahead. Annaduff were pushing hard and 2 frees from Martin Beirne kept the scoreboard ticking over. It took a wonderful save from Diarmuid to save our bacon in the dying moments as Annaduff went all out for a winner but we deservedly held on for the victory. Well done to all the players for their commitment all year and it was fantastic to see a great servant like James Flynn lift the cup afterwards. Congratulations to manager Sean Pierson and selectors Paddy Higgins & Angus Fee for all their hard work during a long season and we look forward to competing in Division 1 next season.

U-15 – The U-15’s drew with Mohill in the 15 aside final in the curtain raiser on a scoreline of 2-06 to 1-09 in Pairc Sean on Sunday. We got away to a great start after Ciaran McMorrow pointed an opening free when Radek Oberwan converted a penalty in the 10th minute and this was followed almost immediately by a Conor Flood goal to put us in the driving seat & with further points from Ciaran, Conor & Radek we led at the break 2-04 to 0-03. The defensive work from the team in the first half was outstanding with numerous blocks & interceptions a particular highlight. In the second half credit must go to Mohill who got on top in terms of possession and with only Shane McKeon and Liam McGourty pointing for us, Mohill reeled off a succession of points to leave just a goal between the sides and as often happens in underage games the equaliser arrived in the last minute when Mohill scrambled to the net. Both sides could have won it in injury time but we have to do it all again next weekend so best wishes to Farrell, Angus and the team. We wish Mark Reynolds a speedy recovery as he had to attend NowDoc after the game for a head injury suffered in the second half.  Please turn out again in numbers to support the team.  

Annual Golf Classic – The golf classic Scramble takes place on Saturday in Ballinamore. The event is sponsored again this year by the McGuire Family as the teams of 3 complete for the James McGuire Trophy. Timesheet from 8am and teams cost €90. Please contact Enda McGloin for tee times.

25 Card Drive – The card game continues in Aras Padraig every Sunday night at 8:30pm. All welcome.

Lotto – There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week the numbers were 11-17-18-28. The prize winners of €20 each were: Sean & Peggy Lynch, Drumshanbo; Shane McRann, Mount Allen; Catherine O’Dowd, Carrick-on-Shannon; Teresa Cornyn, Dowra; Eileen Flaherty, Riverstown. The jackpot now stands at €3,700.

Dublin City Marathon – The Club would like to pass on heartiest congrats to all the local runners from Drumshanbo Athletic Club who took part in the marathon on Sunday with a special word for underage coaches Damien McCabe and Neil Nolan and club referee Cyril McKeon.

Well done Niall – Congratulations to Niall Morahan who made his full debut for Sligo Rovers at the weekend and delivered a very accomplished performance.

Connacht Club Championship – Best wishes to Fenagh St. Caillians and Glenfarne Kiltyclogher who both play Sligo opposition this Saturday against Shamrock Gaels and Easkey respectively.

Sympathy – The Club extends deepest condolences to the Wynne & Costello Families, Carrick Road on the sad passing of John Joe Winters, who was laid to rest in Drumcong last week. Sympathy also to the Flynn Family on the sad passing of Padraig Flynn also laid to rest in Drumcong last week. Sincere sympathy also to the McManus Family, Aughakilbrack on the death of James Donnelly, Longford and to the Woods Family on the death of Pat Connolly, Leitrim Village, both of whom were laid to rest in Drumshanbo at the weekend.

Division 2 Playoff – Congratulations to the team & management on winning the league playoff against Dromahair in Drumkeerin last Saturday on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-06. The victory confirms a quick return to Division 1 and a chance of some silverware when we will meet Annaduff in the Division 2 Final once they have completed the Intermediate Championship. The game was played in difficult conditions but we started well and with the sides tied at 0-02 points apiece a Shane Walsh goal in the 7^th minute settled the nerves. Dromahair struck for a gaol themselves in the 19^th minute to reduce the arrears but Alan Wynne slotted home our second goal in the 20^thminute to regain the advantage. Mark Gunning was sent off after a second yellow on 26 minutes and with a half time score of 2-06 to 1-04 a difficult second period looked on the cards. However the deficit in numbers was never a factor and we played some great stuff after the break and once Thomas Mulvey struck a third goal on 40 minutes the game was under control. Dromahair fought on and scored a goal with the final kick of the game. Our scorers were: Martin Beirne 0-03; Shane Walsh 1-00; Alan Wynne 1-00; Thomas Mulvey 1-00; James Flynn 0-02; Caleb Duffy 0-02; Nicholas Moore 0-02; Diarmaid McKiernan 0-02; Shane Beirne 0-02; Ciaran Walsh 0-01. The league final is due to be played in Sunday October 28^th.

U-15’s – The U-15’s completed the round robin games with a win over St. Brigids in Aughnasheelin on Saturday. Their reward for winning all their matches and finishing top of the group is a home semi final which will be played this Sunday at 4:30pm. Their opponents will be St. Marys against whom they’ve had a few great battles this year  so good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team. Please turn out to support the lads.

U-16 Ladies – The ladies were defeated away to Glencar Manorhamilton on Sunday and we play Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins this Sunday morning at home.

U-12 Ladies – The girls took part in the St Michaels Blitz on Sunday last. We played games against Ballinameen, Elphin/Kilmore and host club St Michael’s. The girls had a great day in a very well organised event so thanks you to St Michaels GAA Club for their invitation & we now have completed our activities on the field for 2018.

Thanks a million to the girls and their parents for their commitment all year and a special thank you to Paul McGowan and Berni Lynch for their work and time with the players.

County Final Day – Congratulations to Aughawillan on their great senior championship victory on Sunday & commiserations to Mohill. Well done to Cathal McGovern and Cillian Nolan who represented the club in the U-7 parade and it was also lovely to see Alan McKeon represent his father, the late great Frank McKeon in the Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins 50^th anniversary three in a row team.

Sympathy – The Club extends deepest condolences to the McGovern Family, on the sad passing of Joe McGovern in England last week.

St. Francis Ladies – Congratulations to the ladies who won a thrilling Intermediate Final in Ballinamore on Sunday with a 2-12 to 3-07 win over Mohill. Mairead McCawley struck an early goal to settle the nerves and we were on top for the early stages but Mohill staged a recovery and led by 5 points at one point but the girls showed great heart and determination and a second-half goal from Ailish Cornyn put us on the road to victory. Great credit goes to both teams and thank you to all the supporters who turned out to cheer the girls home. Well done to Paul, Gareth and the squad on a great achievement.

Division 2 Playoff – We play Dromahair in the long-awaited league playoff in Drumkeerin this Saturday at 4pm. As this will decide promotion to Division 1 for the coming season it’s a hugely important game so please turn out to support the lads. Good luck to Sean, Angus, Paddy & the team.

Minor Ladies – The ladies face St. Mary’s in the final which may be played this weekend so please watch out for the fixtures. Best of luck to Ciara, Dermot, Ann and the girls.

U-15’s – The U-15’s had a good win over Mohill in Ballinaglera on Sunday morning on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-09. This was a really good team performance and goals from Liam McGourty (2) and Conor Flood set us on our way. We play Leitrim Gaels at home on Saturday morning at 12noon so good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team.

U-13 Regional Final – The Lough Allen Region lost out to the Carrick Region in the final of the U-13 competition in Cloone last Tuesday. Hard luck to the lads involved with this team.

Juvenile Teams Sponsorship: The Club would like to sincerely thank all those who sponsored training gear for the underage teams during the season. Senior Championship – We bowed out of the championship on Saturday evening in Pairc Sean losing to defending champions Mohill on a scoreline of 3-17 to 0-08. After an encouraging opening 20 minutes, it was all Mohill as we faded out of the game. The final margin was harsh on the players who put in a big effort. While we showed flashes of promise this season, we certainly learned that Division 2 is no preparation for the senior championship and it is important that everyone remains focussed for the coming weeks with a crucial league playoff with Dromahair to come that will decide who joins Annaduff in Division 1 next year. We wish Mohill well in the remainder of the championship and well done to the players & management for their commitment all year.

St. Francis Ladies – The intermediate final is due to be played the weekend of September 30^th so best of luck to Paul, Gareth and the squad as they prepare for the big game.

Minor Ladies – The ladies play Keeldra Gaels in the championship semi final which is a home game for us on Saturday morning. Best of luck to Ciara, Dermot, Ann and the girls.

U-15’s – The lads play Glencar Manorhamilton away in the next round on Friday evening.  Good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team.

Underage Blitz – Well done to all who took part in the U-7 and U-9 matches against Leitrim Gaels in the park on Friday evening last.

All Ireland Fundraiser – Congratulations to the winners in the All Ireland draw with Sean Lynch, Drumkeelan taking the half time prize of €250 and to overall winner Niall Sorohan, Convent Avenue who scooped €750. Many thanks to everyone who supported the draw and a special thank you to Noel Beirne, Fergus Moran and Henry Sorohan for organising what was a very successful venture.

Senior Championship – We play Glencar Manorhamilton in the last round of group games this Saturday evening at 6:30pm in Pairc Sean. Best of luck to Sean, Paddy, Angus & the squad. Best wishes also to Bryan Beirne who picked up a nasty injury at the weekend and many thanks to Dr. Declan Loftus once again for his prompt attention.

St. Francis Ladies – The ladies play Fenagh in the intermediate championship semi final this Saturday. No details of time or venue to hand. Best of luck to Paul, Gareth & the panel.

 U-13’s – The boys had a good win away to Kiltubrid last week on a scoreline of 4-13 to 1-13 & qualified for the Shield Final on Friday last where after a great battle they were pipped by Fenagh on a scoreline of 3-06 to 1-10. Hard luck to the team & management Kenneth, Richard & Cyril but well done on their efforts all year.

U-15’s – They lads commence their championship campaign with a trip to Dromahair on Tuesday & then host St. Marys next Monday at 6:30pm  We will have details next week so good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team.

St. Francis Ladies – The ladies overcame St. Marys/Bornacoola on Saturday morning last in Ballinamore on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-04. We led 0-07 to 1-03 at the break but pulled away in the second half to qualify for the semi finals with a game to spare. Well done to Paul, Gareth & the squad.

 Senior Championship – The lads face Aughnasheelin this Saturday evening at 6:30pm in Ballinamore. Best of luck to team & management.

U-17’s – The U-17’s were narrowly defeated by Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins away last week on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-14. The last game in the round robin is this week when we host Fenagh St. Caillians. Best of luck to all concerned.

U-13’s – The lads were edged out by Sean O’Heslins on a scoreline of 3-07 to 2-08 and played out a thrilling draw with St. Brigids at home on Thursday 4-11 apiece after coming back from a 14 point deficit. Best of luck to the team & management in the last game at home to Melvin Gaels this Thursday at 7pm.

U-13 Regional Final – Best of luck to the Drumshanbo Area team who play the Carrick Area in the regional final in Cloone on Friday evening at 6:45pm.

Minor Ladies – Well done to the girls on their win last week over Mohill and best of luck to Dermot, Ann & the panel in their remaining matches.
