Smith Monumentals IFC – Our Championship will commence on Saturday evening in St Mary’s Park Cloone at 5:30pm against Leitrim Gaels. Please come out and support the team.

Lotto – There was no winner of the Lotto last Saturday night. The numbers drawn were 5-6-0-3-1-4-7-2 €30 winners on the night were Mary O’Brien, Ray McBrien, Aoife Casey, Laura Sweeney and Neala Barry.  The House Prize sponsored by The Dugout was won by Paul Bohan. The next draw will be run by Colm & Gerry’s team which will be held in “The Dugout” on Saturday 4^th August.  Jackpot is €11,400. Lotto envelopes €2 each or three envelopes for €5.

2018 Kellogg’s Cúl Camps in LeitrimOver 85 children took part in the Leitrim GAA Cul Camps in Aughavas last week. Well done to Conor Gaffney and his Coaches.  Check out the photos by Terry on the Aughavas GAA Facebook page.

Croagh Patrick 2018 – The annual trip to climb Croagh Patrick is on Sunday 29^th July.  A bus will leave The Dugout on Saturday night.  Please contact Gerry at 087 6860261 to book your seat.  Places are limited and seats are going fast.

Sympathy – Aughavas GAA Club would like to extend our sympathy to the McKiernan Family, Drumshanbo North on the death of their mother and Grandmother Mae.  May she Rest in Peace.

Fixtures – ACLD3 Final will take place in Pairc Sean on Saturday 14^th July at 7pm.  Aughavas –v- Eslin.  Please come out and support the team.

Leitrim Seniors – Hard luck to the Leitrim team who bowed out of the Championship last Saturday afternoon to a strong Monaghan side.  Well done to the Leitrim U17’s who beat Sligo and go on to play Galway on Friday next.  Good luck to the team and management.

Underage – Well done to all the U9 boys that took on Allen Gaels at halftime in the game between Leitrim & Monaghan, stars for the future no doubt.  Also well done to all the U11 boys and girls that took part in the blitz last Monday, an enjoyable evening’s football was had by all.  Hard luck to our U12 team who lost out narrowly to Gortletteragh in the Longford Leitrim league, this defeat ends our interest in the competition for this year.

The U7’s and u13’s teams are preparing for championship which starts next week in both grades. Good luck to all involved.  The U13 Regional Team are in a playoff with the Carrick area for a place in the final.  Good luck to all the boys on this team.

Aughavas GAA Golf Classic 2018 – We had a beautiful day in Ballinamore Golf Club on Saturday 30^th June for our annual Golf Classic with 20 teams taking part on one of the hottest days of the year.  Congratulations to the winning team of Ollie Moran, Kevin Meehan, Ray Gleeson and Declan McCarthy sponsored by Sean Faughnan, Melican & London.  The winners were presented with the “Owen McCaffrey” Perpetual Shield by Mrs Mary McCaffrey and also received €400 & Slieve Russell Golf Club 4 Ball Voucher presented by our Chairman Colm Moran. The 2^nd prize of Callaway Golf Shoes & 4 ball voucher for Strand hill GC was won by Tony Lennon’s team.  3^rd prize of Druid Half zip golf tops & 4 ball voucher for Carrick-on-Shannon GC was won by Frank Holohan’s team. 4^th prize of 4 x Footjoy Tee-Shirts & voucher for Longford GC was won by Sean Doyle’s team. 5^th prize of 4 ball voucher for Rathcore GC was won by Kevin Beirne’s team.  6^th prize of 4x Callaway Golf Umbrellas & 4 ball voucher for Ballinamore GC was won by Brid Suillivan’s team.  7^th prize of Srixon golf balls & 4 ball voucher for Ballinamore GC in memory of our own Jack McGovern, R.I.P. was won by Michael Solon’s team. The famous “Pink Ball” prize of a 4ball voucher for Esker Hills GC was won by Brid Sullivan’s team.  The nearest the pin on the 7^th hole was Michael Solon who won a €50 voucher for  Mitchell’s Bar, Carrigallen sponsored by Pat Mitchell.  The nearest the pin on the 11^th hole was won by young Cathal McNamara, Carrickavoher who also won a €50 voucher for Mitchells Bar, Carrigallen sponsored by Pat Mitchell. The men’s longest drive on the 15^th hole was Declan McCarthy who won a 2 ball voucher and €30 voucher for the Copper Still, Dromod sponsored by the Copper Still. The Ladies longest drive on the 18^th hole was Breda Travers who won €50 sponsored by Declan McCarthy Meats, Ballinamore.  All players were entered into a draw for 4 Leitrim GAA jerseys and the winners were Leo Logan, Cathal McNamara, Colin Moran & Peter McKiernan. We wish to thank all the teams who took part, all who helped out on the day, and on previous days with signs, prizes, food, photos, fridges etc., the ladies in the kitchen and of course all our sponsors.  We will publish a list of Sponsors in next week’s notes.

2018 Kellogg’s Cúl Camps in Leitrim 

Aughavas Kellogg’s Cul Camps will take place from Monday 16^th July to Friday 20^th July.

Sympathy – Aughavas GAA Club would like to express our sympathies to the Kennedy Family, Finisklin, Mohill on the death of Mary Kennedy (nee Gallogly) formerly of Sonnaghconnor, Aughavas.   May she rest in peace.

The next draw will be run by The Player’s Team which will be held in “The Dugout” on Saturday 23^rd June. Jackpot €11,100. Club Meeting – The next Club Meeting will take place on Thursday 21^st at 9pm in the Club rooms.  The Golf Classic is on the Agenda.

Golf Classic – The Owen McCaffrey Memorial Shield Golf Classic is in Ballinamore Golf Club on Saturday 30^thJune.  A team of 4 is €160.   Please contact Enda on 0876341639 for tee times.

Underage – St Joseph’s U12’s played St Brigid’s on Thursday evening in the Longford/Leitrim league; it was a hard fought close game throughout with both teams playing some great football.  Unfortunately a couple of late scores saw us lose out narrowly on this occasion.  Next up is Grattan Gaels in Aughavas.

Tournament – The Turlough Conefrey Memorial Tournament took place on Sunday last, school teams from Aughavas, Cloone, Gortletteragh and Carrigallen took part on a lovely afternoon for football and excellent conditions.  These teams served up a feast of exciting games, one of the most competitive tournaments yet.  It ended with Aughavas and Gortletteragh in the final with both teams playing their hearts out.  Aughavas just edged it to win back the Shield.  Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way to make the day a success.  All proceeds going to charity.

U13 – Mohill area U13 Regional team take on Carrick area this week.  St Joseph’s have 11 boys on this panel.

U20 – Hard luck to Seamus, Fintan & Eoin and the Leitrim U20’s in their Championship game against Mayo.

Aughavas Kellogg’s Cul Camps will take place from Monday 16^th July to Friday 20^th July. Registration for Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps 2018 is currently underway online via the website, https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/ Please note: The online booking facility will close at noon on the Wednesday preceding the week of the camps. Please be aware that Registrations will NOT be accepted on the first morning of camp. The only method of registration will be via the online link.

Lotto – The Lotto draw will take place on Saturday 26^th May in “the Dugout” with Dan & Noel’s team. Lotto Jackpot is €10,900.  Envelopes €2 or three for €5.

Fixtures – Our next Division 3 game is on Sunday 27^th May in Aughavas against St Mary’s at 12 noon.  Our Div. 4 team also play on Sunday 27^th against Kilturbid at 2pm in Aughavas.

St. Joseph’s Boys – Westlink Coaches – U15’s have finished all their league games and are playing a Shield semi-final on Thursday evening.

U12’S – Our U12 team took part in a tournament in Colmcille at the weekend, it was a good workout for them in preparation for the Longford/Leitrim league which starts on Thursday 31^st May.  Thanks to Colmcille club for their hospitality on the day.

Leitrim Seniors – Good luck to the Leitrim Team who take on Roscommon on Saturday evening in Pairc Sean at 5:30pm.

Meeting – The next Club & Executive meeting will take place on Thursday 24^th May at 9pm in the Club rooms.

Leitrim v New York – Congratulations to Leitrim who beat New York in the first round of the Connacht Championship on Sunday last.  What a game!  Safe trip home to team, management and supporters.

FIXTURES – Well done to our Div 3 Team who had a good win over Fenagh last Saturday evening in Aughavas.  They play Gortletteragh on Saturday 28^th at 7pm in Gortletteragh.  Our Div 4 team also secured a win over St Mary’s in Carrick on Sunday 22^nd.  They have an away game in St Osnatts on Sunday 29^th at 12 noon against Dromahair.

ST JOSEPH’S BOYS – It was a weekend of Shields at underage with both our U13’s and U17’s teams in Shield finals.

Barna Recycling U13’s – Our U13’s took to the field on Friday evening last in Aughavas against a determined Dromahair team.  We played into the breeze in the first half and took a little time to settle into the game conceding an early goal and a point.  However, the fightback started, even though we were 4 points down at halftime we had the momentum and with excellent performances and the hard work rate from every member of the team we ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-11 to 3-4.  Well done lads, keep working hard and look forward to the championship.  Thanks to Mary Kenny, Secretary of Coiste na Nog for presenting the Shield. Our U13 Team – Fionan Harte, Kevin Doherty, Cian Dolan, Padraig Maguire, Jack McIntyre, Eanna McNamara, Ben Harte, Kalum McLoughlin, Liam McIntyre, Matthew McCabe, Darren Shortt, Gary Mitchell, Cian McHugh, Joey McBrien, Harry Wilson, Tommy Kearney, Conor Shortt, Gavin Gallogly, Naoise Feeney and Conor Downes.  Coaches – Fintan McBrien, Padraig McLoughlin, Ciaran Harte & Noel Shortt.

Newtowngore Engineering 17’s – On Saturday afternoon in Carrigallen our U17’s played Fenagh in the Shield Final.  These lads got off to a good start and stayed in control going in at halftime 2-9 to 1-4 ahead. It was a tighter contest in the second half with both teams displaying great football. The final score was St Joseph’s 4-13 to Fenagh 3-7.  Well done to the team and management.  Thanks to Coiste na Nog Chairman Gerry Gallogly for presenting the Shield.  Our U17 Team – Aaron Moran, Shafik Oubihi, Sean Mark Lynch, Edward Donohoe, Conor Gallogly, Adrian Shortt, Niall O’ Rourke, Shane O’Brien, Patrick McCann, Rob Kotteman, Jordan Codwell, Iarflaith  Feeney, Niall McCabe, Shane Tierney, Joey Kearney, Adam Galligan & Eoin Kearney.  Coaches – Benny O’Rourke, Peter McBrien & Rory Harte.

Westlink Coaches U15’s – Our U15’s start their league campaign with a trip to Manorhamiliton on Thursday evening, best of luck to all.

Training –  Training continues for U9/U11 on Saturday morning in Aughavas, all involved will be notified by text.

SPRING CLEAN 2018 – Thanks to all who answered the call on Saturday last for our community spring clean. What a great result 26 bags of rubbish taken off our roads in the Parish. The R201 from Meiltron to Drumshanbo North, the Fenagh road down as far as the Community Centre and the Augharan road.
