Annual Christmas Draw – The annual Aughawillan Christmas Draw will be held in the Viking Lounge on Saturday 5th January. There’s a total of 15 prizes to be won on the night, including a top prize of €5,000. Tickets are €20 or 3 for €50 & we ask that if possible to please support the draw. AGM – The annual AGM will take place on Sunday 30th December. We encourage as many people as possible to attend and new members are always welcome!

U20 – Hard luck to St Brigid’s u20 team who were defeated in the Final by St Mary’s. Score: St Brigid’s 8 points St Mary’s 2-9. Aughawillan was represented by Yann LeGuen, Niall Stringer, Daire Maxwell, Jason Prior, Michael McTague, Conor McGovern, Michael O’Haire, Kevin Prior as well as manager Peter Prior.

Aughawillan GAA Club Notes 21/11/2018

Junior Championship – Congratulations to the Junior team and managers Pat Flanagan & Pat Joe McNiffe on winning the Junior B Championship final last weekend. There was a great display of football put on by both teams, in particular, by many of our younger players who were outstanding all over the field. Well done to Peter Prior who won Man of the Match. A massive thank you to the big crowd that came to support the team on the day & see our captain Michael Prior lift Aughawillan’s second trophy of the year! We also wish a speedy recovery to Conor McGovern, who unfortunately was unable to be there. Check out our Facebook page for pictures from the Final!

U20 – Well done to St Brigid’s u20 team who defeated St Joseph’s last weekend. Score: St Brigid’s 2-14 St Joseph’s 2-8. They are now in the Final against St Mary’s. The game takes place at 12pm in Ballinamore and all support is appreciated!

Congratulations to Gary & Petra Deane on the birth of their baby daughter, Lola.

Leitrim Sports Star Awards – Best of Luck to the Senior Team & Mark Plunkett who are both nominated for awards in the Leitrim Sports Star Awards, in the Senior Team & Senior Sports Individual categories respectively. The awards are held on November 24th in the Landmark Hotel, if anyone is interested in attending, please contact Michael Quinn by Wednesday evening. Tickets are €40 and include a 4 course meal.

Help build the “Leitrim Wall” – This fundraising initiative by Leitrim GAA seeks to complete a wall of messages and support visible from the N4 at the Centre of Excellence in Annaduff. There are options from €250 up to €3,000 which allow you to purchase a brick or stone in the wall with a personal message which can been seen and inspire future generations of Leitrim footballers. The funds raised will go to the completion of the Centre of Excellence. If you are interested in this initiative, please contact: secretary.aughawillan.leitrim@gaa.ie.

Aughawillan GAA Club Notes 14/11/2018

Senior Championship – Despite battling hard, the Connacht Club Semi-Final didn’t go as we had hoped. However, the final score didn’t reflect how tight the game was at times with Aughawillan kicking some fantastic points throughout the game. Aughawillan GAA would like to thank everyone who came to Pairc Sean & sent messages of good luck on social media, both last week and during the year – showing how close the community is, despite being scattered around the globe! Thanks also all the players & management who have provided us with many memories throughout the year, brought the Fenagh Cup to Aughawillan and done us all proud in the process. Hon the Willies!!

Junior Championship – Best of luck to the team and management in the Junior Championship Final against Fenagh/St Caillins. The game takes place on Saturday 17th November at 2pm in Ballinamore. We’ve had great support over the past few weeks and hope as many people as possible can turn out for one final game!

Senior Championship – One week on from the County Final victory, the celebrations are winding down and preparations are focused on the Connacht Championship. Members of the team visited Aughawillan NS with the cup to inspire the younger generation last week & DVDs of the final are available to purchase for €10 each. Please contact Morgan Quinn ASAP if you would like to purchase one. There is also a small number of DVDs of the 2014 and 2016 finals available. Aughawillan GAA Club Notes 14/10/2018

Senior Championship – Aughawillan: Leitrim SFC Champions 2018! Congratulations & well done to all the players, management and backroom team who brought the Fenagh Cup back to Aughawillan for the 3rd time in 5 years! It was a massive achievement for the club who were the underdogs to beat one of the best teams in the county. With Mohill in the lead into the second half, they held their nerve and came out winners by 2 points, for captain Sean Quinn to lift the cup. Congratulations to Gary Plunkett who was Man of the Match and scored 5 points on the day. Aughawillan GAA would like to thank all the supporters from far and wide who sent good luck messages to us in various forms over the past couple of weeks from all over the world! Senior Championship – Leitrim SFC Final – Aughawillan v Mohill, Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, Sunday 14th October at 3 pm –  Pairc Sean MacDiarmada is the place to be next Sunday as Aughawillan take on the defending champions, Mohill, in the Leitrim Senior Football Championship Final. With only a few days to go, there is plenty of blue & yellow and lots of artwork to be seen in all corners! A big thank you to all those who came to the pitch on Sunday and took the opportunity to offer support & encouragement. A special thank you to everyone who had the pitch looking great, who helped in the kitchen & who provided refreshments. We ask that you show the same support next weekend in Pairc Sean. We hope that you can turn out in lots of colour & be ready to cheer on the lads as they take to field! If you can’t make the game, there will be coverage of the game on Shannonside & Aughawillan GAA social media pages. Senior Championship – All roads lead back to Pairc Sean MacDiarmada in two weeks time for the 2018 County Final! Having beaten St Mary’s, 1-12 to 2-7 in a challenging & hard-won semi-final, in which our teamwork shone through in all areas of the field. We now face Mohill in the final on October 14th at 3pm. In the lead up to the final we ask that you get the flags and banners out & show your support for the team in any way possible! Liam Gormley Tournament – Well done to all the teams, coaches and mentors who took part in the Liam Gormley Tournament held last weekend. Congratulations to the u9 winners – Garadice Gaels & the u11 winners – Gowna. A special thank you to referees,  all those who helped out on the day to make it a success, thanks to Michael McGovern & Supervalu for providing refreshments for the players.

Senior Championship – Best of luck to the Senior team in the Semi-Final against St Mary’s this Sunday 30th September at 4pm in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada. We encourage you all to turn out in force and show your support for the lads!

Junior Championship – Congratulations to the Junior team on making the Junior B Championship Final. They defeated Bornacoola in the Semi-Final last weekend. Score: Aughawillan: 2-13 Bornacoola: 1-9. They now play Fenagh/St Caillin’s in the Final, day & venue TBC.

Underage – The u15 St Brigid’s team had mixed fortunes last weekend – they were defeated by Dromahair on Friday but drew with Leitrim Gaels the day after. Score: St Brigids: 3-5 Dromahair: 4-10; St Brigid’s 1-11 Leitrim Village 1-11. The next Championship game versus St Mary’s is on Saturday 29th September at 12pm in St Mary’s Park, Carrick.

Plunkett Cup – Well done to all the players from St Brigid’s and Ballinamore on a great performance in the Plunkett Cup last Sunday. Congrafulations to Ballinamore won on the day by 1 point.

Liam Gormley Tournament – The Liam Gormley Tournament takes place on Saturday 29th September from 10am, with u9 and u11 teams taking part. All support on the day would be appreciated.

Senior Championship –  Well done to the Senior Team on a hard fought victory in an exciting game that went down to the last few minutes against Melvin Gaels. Score: Aughawillan 1-11 Melvin Gaels 12 points. They now face St Mary’s Kiltoghert in the Semi-Final, due to be played September 29/30th.

Senior Championship –  Well done to the Senior team who had a massive win over Dromahair last weekend. Score: Aughawillan 4-17 Dromahair 4 points. They now face Melvin Gaels in the Quarter-Final, this Sunday 16th September at 4.30pm in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.

Junior Championship – Well done to the Junior team who won the Junior B Championship Play-Off against Glencar/Manorhamilton. Score: Aughawillan 2-9 Glencar/Manorhmailton: 1-6. They are now through to the Semi-Final due to take place on the weekend of 22/23rd September.

Underage – Hard luck to St Brigid’s u15 team who were defeated in their opening Championship game. Score: St Brigid’s 1-3, Mohill 3-15. Their next game takes place against Leitrim Gaels on Friday 14th September at 6.30pm in Leitrim Village.
Well done to the Garadice Gaels u11 team who defeated Dernacrieve Gaels 12 points to 6 points in the final of the Swanlinbar u11 Tournament.
