Ballinaglera GAA Club Notes 07/01/2019

AGM – Takes place in the community hall at 4pm sharp on this Sunday 13th January. Can all members, players and any new members or anyone who would like to help out in the club please attend this important meeting.

Charity match – Thank you to everyone who supported our charity game on St Stephens day. €1650 was raised, with all proceeds going to SHOUT, the oncology ward at Sligo University Hospital. A massive thank you to everyone for your generosity. Thanks to those who organised the event and to those who made sandwiches and tea on the day and to Tom Maguire for taking photos. It was greatly appreciated.

Condolences – The club wishes to sympathise with the Mulvey Family, Ballinaglera, on the death of Brendan Mulvey, Ballinaglera and Dublin. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. May he rest in peace.

Thanks – Thank you to everyone at the Leitrim Observer for all their great work during 2018. We look forward to more great publishing and photographs from on and off the pitch in 2019.

Wedding Bells – Congratulations to Aileen Mulvey and Ollie McTiernan who got married on New Years Eve. We wish them a long life of health and happiness together.

Greetings – We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying the festive season. We wish all our supporters, players, members and friends a happy New year. Thanks for all your support during the year. We look forward to your continued support in 2019. It’s much appreciated.

Wedding Bells – Congratulations to former club player Philip Mcgourty who married Deborah Gilheaney last week. We wish you both a long life of health and happiness together. We also hope to see Philip back in the Glera colours in the future and maybe Deborah in the St Francis colours.

Sympathy – The club wishes to sympathise sincerely with Colm Maguire and the O Donnell family, Corry, on the death of Nancy O Donnell. May she rest in peace.

Scór na nÓg – Thank you and well done to our quiz team that took part in the recent Scor na nÓg. The quiz team comprised Liam McGourty, Danny and Jamie McGrael and Damian Gilmartin.

Dinner Dance – Many thanks to everyone who attended and supported our dinner dance last Saturday and to everyone who kindly donated spot prizes for the raffle on the night (more details next week). Thank you to the hard working committee of Barry McGourty, Ann Flood, Sinead Dolan, Bernie Lynch, John Mulvey and Ailish Cornyn. Thanks also to the Landmark Hotel, the band Busy fingers, DJ Declan Lynch, special guest Dublin star, Ciaran Kilkenny and our excellent MC for the night Kevin Blessing. Well done to all the award winners; Frankie Reynolds-club person of the year, Ryan Crawford and Mairead McCauley-Men’s and ladies senior player of the year, Anton McGourty and Pauric Clarke, joint Junior players of the year and U17 player of the year Enda Keegan. Well done to our two successful teams, St Francis Ladies championship winners and our Junior league winning team. We hope everyone had an enjoyable night.

Leitrim Sports Awards – Congratulations to all the award winners at the Leitrim sports awards held recently, especially our neighbours Glenfarne Kiltyclogher who were joint winners of club of the year, Drumshanbo Vocational school who were crowned Sports school of the year, unsung hero winner Dessie Doyle from Drumshanbo, overallsportspersonn of the year Dearbhla Rooney and Hall of fame winner Tommy Moran.

U 15 County Final – Hard luck to the Allen Gaels team who lost out to Mohill in the replay last Friday evening. Well done to club players Jamie McGrael, Liam McGourty, Damian Gilmartin and Mark Reynolds who represented the club with pride.

U15 County Final – Best of luck to Allen Gaels U15 team against Mohill next Sunday in the Final, especially our club representatives Mark Reynolds, Jamie Mc Greal, Damian Gilmartin and Liam McGourty. Please check fixtures for time and venue.

Club Meeting – Next Tuesday 30th Oct at 9.30pm sharp in the community hall.

Young Stars – Congratulations to Tadhg Rynn and Darragh McGourty who represented the club in the parade on Co Final day in Pairc Sean McDiarmada. Two stars of the future getting a taste of the County final atmosphere.

Division 1 League – We play Mohill in the last group game Saturday evening at 4pm in Mohill.

Comhghairdeas – Congratulations to Aughawillan, Fenagh and Glenfarne on their recent county final success.

We will share the night with the championship-winning St. Francis Ladies team, where they will be presented with their medals along with our Junior league winning team.
