County Champions – Sunday was a memorable day for the club as we witnessed our ladies team become Intermediate County Champions. This game had just about everything and kept our supporters on the edge of their seats till the final whistle. The team showed tremendous heart and determination to come back from 5 points down to win by 2. They led 1.5 to no score early in the first half thanks to a superb Mairead McCauley goal coming straight from the throw-in. Some timely interceptions late in the second half by Emma Dunne, Aine Flood, Aideen McKiernan and player of the match McCauley epitomised the never say die attitude of the girls. Tanya McPartland was an engine in midfield that drove the team on time and time again along with some excellent shooting. Mairead Flood worked tirelessly to help out the defence. Stephanie Reynolds was a rock at full back and supported greatly by her sister Annette and Emma in the corners. Michelle Monaghan kept everyone on their toes as she demanded the goal area. Half back line Dara Morahan, Eimear Gibbons and Meave Daly put in some great tackles and were solid throughout, with Daly popping up for an important point. Ciara McTigue, Aine Flood and Roisin McGrenaghan made excellent runs from half forward and supported Ciara McPartland and Ailish Cornyn in the full forward line, who both linked up well. McPartland won some important frees and Cornyn finished a well-worked move to the back of the net, which proved vital. Subs McKiernan and Katy Foley also made a great impact off the bench. Well done to the whole panel who worked so hard all year; Sarah Loughlin, Ciara Reynolds, Aideen Kane, Aoife Gilmartin, Sadhbh Sweeney, Niamh McDonagh and Rachel McLoughlin. We wish Rachel a speedy recovery from a hand injury and hope to see her back on the pitch next year. Congratulations on the hard-fought win and to the management Paul Martin and Gareth Smith. Thanks also to Ann Flood, Sinead Dolan, Verona Fitzpatrick, Bernie Blessing Lynch, Jackie Gibbons and Fergal Wynne for their help and support. Thanks to the fantastic supporters who came out in great numbers.

Swan Bar Div 4 league Champions – The club made history last Sunday after an extra time thriller that left spectators on the edge of their seat right till the end. Three late scores in extra time secured a 1.13 to 1.10 victory over Sean O Heslins. Damien McGourty and Colm Maguire were reeling in the years as they fired over 2 of those 3 scores with young Niall Mc Gourty putting over another fine effort to ensure the cup was going back to Ballinaglera. It was a fantastic team performance which produced some excellent fielding from Anton McGourty and Pauric Clarke around the middle. Hugh Gilmartin commanded the goal line superbly and a tight defence was marshalled by Barry Gilmartin and the Crawford brothers, John and Ryan, with James Mc Dowell and Patrick Mc Grail putting in some excellent tackles and running the wings all day. Captain fantastic Rory Mc Partland was the anchor at centre back. Up front the experienced Noel Mc Morrow worked tirelessly, with Ciaran Cornyn and Oisin McGourty providing excellent link up play and Gerard Clarke, Maguire and Mc Gourty chipping in with some vital scores. Micheal Crawford joined his two brothers on the field and made an immediate impact off the bench drawing important frees at a crucial stage.
