Sympathy – It is with great sadness that we note the passing of John Joe Dolan, Church Street. A member of the famous Tully team of the 40’s, John Joe is surely Carrigallen’s most decorated footballer, holding a McRory cup medal with St. Pats; a Leitrim senior championship with Tully; as well as Connaught Minor and Junior championships with Leitrim. He also represented Ulster in the colleges’ interprovincial team. The Dolan family have had an unbroken association with the club throughout the years with John Joe’s grandchildren, Barry and Marc current players on our senior team. We extend our sympathies to Con, Michael, Marie, Geraldine and Colette, daughter-in-law, Bernie, grandchildren and extended family members. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

Michael Kenny Memorial Tournament: We held our 3rd annual Michael Kenny tournament in the park on Bank Holiday Monday with all proceeds going to Leukemia Trust. Minor teams from Carrigallen, Aughavas, Fenagh and Rinn Gaels participated. After some keenly contested games, Carrigallen and Fenagh battled it out in the final, with the hosts scoring the winning goal in the final seconds to take the title. Fittingly, Mary Kenny presented the cup to her son, Ciaran, in his final game as a minor. Thanks to all our club members who volunteered on the day ensuring everything ran smoothly. Thanks to our sponsor Darren Reilly, Philip McIntryre for the sound, Paula Kiernan for music and especially James McCaffrey and Fintan McBrien who refereed the games. Thanks also to all the ladies who helped with the food in the club rooms.

It’s been a very fruitful first season of our amalgamation with Aughavas and no doubt we will have better days ahead.
