Drumkeerin GAA Club Notes 11/04/2018

Dunnes Bar Division 1 – Hard luck to our Division 1 men’s team who lost to Gortletteragh last weekend. A physical match on the heavy ground. Next up they play Ballinamore in their first home game of the year. Come down and support the lads in the first game in Drumkeerin, this Saturday at 7pm.
Swan Bar Division 3 – no fixture last weekend or this weekend but the team sits top of Division 3 after four games played with three wins.
Senior Ladies – Hard luck to our senior ladies last weekend, they put up a good battle in a tightly fought contest to lose by a small margin.
Newtowngore Engineering U17 – Well done to our U17 men’s team who beat Rinn Gaels on Saturday afternoon in the league semi-final. Final score 5-08 (23) Drumkeerin to 2-04 (10) Rinn Gaels. The league final will take place in the upcoming weeks against the winners of Annaduff and Melvin Gaels.
Barna Recycling U13 –  Hard luck to the U13 lads, they put up a great game Vs Annaduff, on Monday, in the league semi-final only to lose by a point.
U14 Ladies – Next U14 ladies league game against Melvin Gaels is scheduled for this Friday 13th April at 6:30pm in Kinlough. Good luck to all involved
Cumann na mBunscoil – Good luck to all schools in the Drumkeerin GAA area in the upcoming Cumann na mBunscoil competition.
Club/Executive meeting – the next club meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 11th, at 9pm in the Rowanberry, on the Main Street.

Leitrim GAA Strategic Plan – Coiste Chontae Liatroma CLG is in the process of producing a Strategic Development Plan for the next three years.

As part of the consultation process, adult members of the GAA in Leitrim are being asked for their views under a number of headings. Every voice is important and this online survey is an important part of the consultation. So please give your views and opinions. It will take approximately 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary.

Drumkeerin GAA Club Notes 04/04/2018

Seniors Men Div 1 – A tough loss to Aughnasheelin last weekend in the first game of the year. There was great Drumkeerin support for the away game. Next up, away again, this time vs Gortletteragh on Saturday at 6:30. Best of luck lads.

Juniors Men Div 3 – well done to our Junior men’s team who beat St Marys last Sunday. A good battle to come back from being six points down at halftime and win by two. Well done, no fixture this week.

Senior Ladies – a tough loss at home this weekend to Glencar-Manor, hard luck girls. No fixture this upcoming weekend.

U17 – well done to the lads on another win last Wednesday against Dromahair, and well done on topping the group. Best of luck in the playoffs.

U13 – unlucky on two defeats over the long weekend lads. Big game coming up this week against Fenagh at home in Drumkeerin. The fixture will be confirmed on the Drumkeerin social media pages. Best of luck

U14 Ladies – unlucky to the girls on their loss last weekend. They play Annaduff at home this week, the fixture will be confirmed on the Drumkeerin social media pages. Best of luck

Lotto – there was no jackpot winner of the lotto this weekend. Numbers drawn were 4, 11, 22 and 26. The five €20 winners were Jimmy McPadden, Eamon Fallon, Pauric Murphy, Francis Davitt and Bernadette McKeown (Boyle).

Dunnes Bar Division 1 – Our men’s team have their first Dunnes Bar Division 1 league outing vs Aughnasheelin this Saturday at 6:30pm, in Aughnasheelin. All support would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck lads.
Swan Bar Division 3 –  Our junior men’s team suffered their first loss last week vs Glenfarne in a tight affair, Glenfarne won by 2 points in the end. Next up they play St Mary’s on Sunday at 12pm in Drumkeerin. Best of luck to all involved, great support would be greatly appreciated.
Ladies – Our ladies are to play Glencar-Manor this weekend in Drumkeerin. Throw in 10am Sunday morning, in Drumkeerin. Support would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck to all involved.
Newtowngore Engineering U17 – Well done to our U17 lads who beat Glencar-Manor last weekend. Next up they play Dromahair at 6:30pm on Wednesday the 28th in Drumkeerin. Our lads are going very well, come along and support them. Best of luck to all involved.
Barna Recycling Under 13 – Well done to our U13 lads who played their hearts out in a tight contest away to Gortletteragh last weekend winning by a point. They’ve won their four games in the league, they play next on Thursday Vs St Brigid’s at 6:30pm. Venue to be decided, but it will be posted on Facebook and Twitter when announced. Support would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck to all involved.
U14 ladies – The girls played a great game against Mohill last weekend. Next up they play Kiltubrid/Fenagh on Thursday at 6pm in Drumkeerin. Come support our girls, best of luck to them.
Club meeting – On Wednesday 11th April at 9pm the club will be holding a meeting. All club executives must attend.
Good luck – Good luck to our four U14 girls who play their first county championship game for Leitrim, vs Sligo, on April 2nd.

Junior Men – Well done to our Junior men’s team whose second outing of the year resulted in a 9 point win over Glencar-Manor. They play Glenfarne this weekend in Drumkeerin, all local support would be great for the game which is currently set for 5pm Saturday.
U17 boys – Well done to the lads on a win away against Rinn Gaels last weekend. They won 7-07 to 1-06. That’s three wins from three in the league and next up they’re home to Glencar-Manor at 12pm in Drumkeerin on Saturday. Best of luck to them.
U13 boys – Well done to the lads on a win, last Monday, against Kiltubrid. They won 5-06 to 2-08. That’s three wins from three in the league also and next up they’re away to Gortletteragh, at 12pm in Gortletteragh on Sunday. Best of luck to them.
U14 girls – Well done to the U14 girls on their win last Thursday away to Ballinamore, final score 7:09 to 5:06. Their next fixture is this Saturday at 10am v Mohill, in Drumkeeran. Best of luck to all involved.

Swan Bar Division 3 – Well done to our Junior men’s team whos first outing of the year resulted in a 9 point win over Aughawillan, there was a good crowd for the game. They play Manorhamilton this weekend in Drumkeerin, all local support would be great for the game which is currently set for 12am Sunday.
Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 – Well done to the lads on a win away to Melvin Gaels. That’s two wins from two in the league and next up they’re away to Rinn Gaels at 11am in Gortletteragh on Saturday morning. Best of luck to them.

Senior Ladies – Hard luck to our very young Ladies team who suffered a tough defeat to a very strong and experienced Oughteragh Gaels team.

Drumkeerin GAA Club Notes 06/03/2018

Registration – Club registration is due now and must be paid as soon as possible. Friday night 8-9pm, at the handball alley, will be one of the final opportunities to pay. Contact Gabriel Flynn otherwise.

Thomas Mc Kenna RIP – Sympathy to Connie, his wife, and Mc Kenna family on the death of Thomas, a club legend, who wore the no.9 jersey with pride. Represented club and county and played over many decades as part of club 1975 and 1985 Championship winning teams. Leitrim U21’s 1977 Connaught Champions, Leitrim vocational schools Connaught Champions as well as having played in Croke Park. Thomas represented the Drumkeerin area with great pride and is a great loss to the area.

Ladies Senior Team – The Ladies Senior team would like to say a big thank you to Francis Davitt for his sponsorship of training equipment, it’s greatly appreciated. Best of luck also to Tommy Ginty, manager, and the ladies on their campaign this year which starts this weekend at home in Drumkeerin, at 11am on Sunday vs Oughteragh Gaels.

Junior Men – The Division 3 campaign starts this weekend vs Aughawillan on Saturday, in Aughawillan at 4:30pm. Best of luck to all involved.

U17 boys – away game vs Melvin Gales in Kinlough this Saturday at 12pm, best of luck to the lads.

Club Website – All results and upcoming fixtures are now available on our website homepage at www.drumkeeran.gaa.ie All results and fixtures will be automatically updated as soon as they are confirmed by the County Board CCC which will make access and viewing more convenient.

Sympathy – sympathies to John Joe Byrne and family on the death of John Joe’s sister Mary, who died in Florida last week.

Drumkeerin GAA Club Notes 27/02/2018

R.I.P Darren O’Donnell – Drumkeerin would like to extend our sympathies to Valerie, Keith, Leanne and the O’ Donnell family who have always been involved in our club.  Darren will be sorely missed by the whole surrounding community. Darren himself was part of the U16 15-a-side winners in 2010. His presence will be sadly missed by all in the club. Ar dheis De go raibh sé.
U17 and U13 boys – Our U17’s play Glencar-Manorhamilton this Saturday at 12, in Drumkeerin. The U13’s play Fenagh on Sunday at 12, in Drumkeerin also. Come out and support them.
Fitness Class in aid of Lisa Cullen & Baby Kayden Benefit – On Thursday, 1st March, at 8.30pm in the handball alley there will be a new 6 week ladies fitness class. All proceeds will be going to the Lisa Cullen & Baby Kayden Benefit. These classes will be for the complete beginner to the regular fitness enthusiast. Classes are €25 for the 6 weeks, payable on the first night. The class will be performed by James from Macs Active. All ages catered for.
Leitrim Supporters – Leitrim Supporters tickets are on sale now, contact a club member if interested.
Well Done – Congratulations to the Leitrim Mens team beating Limerick last weekend.
Membership  Club membership is due, there will be another opportunity to registration Friday evening from 8pm to 9pm and on Sunday morning after mass until 1pm. Alternatively, contact Gabriel Flynn or another club member.
Lotto Results – The numbers drawn, from the draw made on the 21st of February, were 7, 16, 21, 24. There was no jackpot winner of €3150. The five €20 winners were Luke Fee, Kevin Mulholland, Harry McDonagh, Peggy Horan, Declan Kelly. Remember you can buy club lotto in all our local business’ in the village. Congratulations – Congratulations to our U13 and U17 teams who were victorious in their first league matches last weekend. Onwards and upwards for 2018

Club Registration – Registration for the 2018 season will open on Saturday February 3rd between 7pm and 9pm and again on Sunday 4th February after mass from 11:45am to 1pm, at the football pitch. Contact Gabriel Flynn, Registrar, for more details.
 
Lisa Cullen & Baby Kayden fund – Following on from last nights club meeting there is a number of tickets now on sale for the Lisa Cullen & baby Kayden fund. Urgent – Coaches for Underage urgently needed and we urge parents to become involved and give a hand out. Foundation level training will be provided which include Garda Vetting, Child protection and safeguarding. You can put your name forward at club registration or to any club member.
