European Boxing Championships – Best of luck to our club player Dearbhla Rooney who travels to Italy this weekend to compete in the U18 Flyweight European Boxing Championships. It is a fantastic achievement for Dearbhla, her family and the Sean McDermott Boxing Club to compete at an international level and testament to their hard work and effort.
Lidl All Ireland Post Primary School Junior C Final – Best of luck to St Clare’s Comprehensive School Junior Girls team who compete in the All Ireland Final this weekend. The club has plenty of representation on the panel of players who take on Cork opposition St Mary’s High School Midleton in the decider in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe, Co Galway at 3pm on Sunday. Supporters are asked to note there is no parking at the grounds so get there early to find parking. Programmes will be available to purchase on the day, €2 each. We wish our representatives and the entire panel and management team the very best of luck.
Senior League – Our Seniors made it two wins from two with a comprehensive home win against Aughnasheelin in Boggaun on Saturday evening. They will be hoping to continue their winning ways as they travel to Aughawillan this Saturday evening for a 7pm throw in. Best of luck to the team and management. Please support.
Division 2 and 3 League – Well done to our Junior team who defeated Eslin on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-10 in Round 3 of the Division 3 League. Our Division 2 team came out the wrong side of a 2-18 to 4-13 scoreline losing by the minimum in what was a hugely entertaining game of football. Next up for the lads is an away fixture versus Cloone this Sunday at 12 noon with the Division 3 team away on the same day to Carrigallen at 2.30. Please support the team and management.
U13 Boys – Well done to this fine group of footballers who produced a brilliant performance full of heart to record an excellent victory over a gallant St Joseph’s side in the U13 15aside League play-off in Boggaun on Sunday evening. This 3-6 to 0-11 victory earned them a semi-final league spot against Mohill on Thursday evening at 6.30 in Mohill. Please show your support for our underage talent. Good luck to Adrian, Kenneth and the boys.
U17 Boys – Congratulations to our U17 team managed by Ronan Haslette and Gerry Hickey who were victorious over Dromahair on Saturday in the Division 2 Shield Final played in St Osnat’s. It was a terrific game with both teams playing an exciting brand of football with Manor pulling away in the end to win 2-12 to 3-6. Team captain Will Whelan was presented with the Shield by the Chairperson of Coiste na nÓg Liatroma, Gerry Gallogly. Well done again to Ronan, Gerry and all the team.
Wedding Bells
Congrats to former ladies club secretary Mary Coyle and her husband Jeffrey Cogan who tied the knot last Saturday in St Clare’s Church Manorhamilton. We wish them and their families health and happiness for the future
Senior & Intermediate Ladies
Well done to our Senior ladies side who recorded a win over St Josephs in Boggaun on Sunday morning. In an extremely tight encounter throughout the girls secured a four point win in their first game on the new pitch. Next up for the ladies is an away tie against Aughawillan in two weeks time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to Club Player Karen Connolly who suffered a hand injury in this game. Unfortunately in the second game of the day our Division 2 side suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Oughteragh Gaels. Next up for the Division 2 side is an away fixture against Fenagh, again in two weeks time.
U14 girls – Well done to our 14 girls team who defeated Dromahair in Boggaun on Saturday morning last. Next up for the girls is an away tie to Keeldra Gaels – date and time still to be confirmed.
U12 Girls – Training for this group of players takes place every Saturday morning at 9am at St Clares NS Astro. Contact Brendan McLaughlin for further information.
Senior Hurlers – Good luck to our Senior hurlers who play Naomh Eoin in Kent Park this Sunday at 12 noon in the Dermot Molloy Hurling League. Please show your support to the team.
Boggaun Pitch – Our new pitch hosted no less than 7 games over Saturday and Sunday. Special thanks to the people who prepared the facilities for the weekend. It will take a well-deserved rest this weekend and training for all teams continues in the Bee Park with bookings for training and matches for both venues to be arranged through Patrick McMorrow.
Sympathy – The Club wishes to express its condolences to the following families who were recently bereaved. Ciaran and Ann McGriskin and the McGriskin family following the passing of Pat McGriskin, Kiltyclogher, the Brady Family, Buggaun following the passing of John Brady Junior and the family of the late Annie Foley, Main Street, Kinlough. Lotto – Our recent Lotto Draw took place in Killasnett Co-Op on 4/4/18. Numbers drawn 13, 16, 22, 28. There was no winner of the jackpot of €3,325. Five consolation prizes of €30 went to Luke Sweeney, Rossinver (Yearly Ticket), Tommy McEnroy, Rossinver, Gerry Maguire, Carrick Road and Mickey Weissman, Larkfield. Club Membership – Club membership is now over-due. Any players still to pay must do so immediately. Club supporters are invited to join. Rates for the year U10 Girls & Boys and U11 Boys (non-competitive grades) – €30 for 1st child & remaining family members at these two age groups €20, U12-U18 Girls – €40, U13-U18 Boys – €40, Adult Players – €80 and Non Playing Club Members €30.
Club Academy – Our Club Academy for U7s, U9s and U11’s continues on Friday nights. Venue is weather dependent and will be notified to parents and posted on our Facebook page. €2 each or €5 max per family. New players are joining every week so feel free to bring your children along to join in the fun and games.
Leitrim GAA Strategic Plan – Coiste Chontae Liatroma CLG is in the process of producing a Strategic Development Plan for the next three years.
