Glencar Manorhamilton Club Notes w/c Monday 4 September 2017
Farewell Father Tom
Father Tom has departed to his new parish in Ballinaglera. We wish him good health and happiness and thank him for his support to the club and our members during his time with us.
Back to School
We wish our club members who are new entrants to the local secondary and national schools a very enjoyable experience in their future academic years.
Academy Training
Academy training continues on Friday nights in Boggaun from 6.30-7.30 with large numbers in attendance. The focus is on learning the skills and making friends through fun and games. New players welcome at any time.
Unwanted Clothes Collection Fundraiser
We are very thankful for the support received from our club members and members of the public towards our unwanted clothes collection fundraiser which ran for the month of August. Special thanks is due to Dermot McMorrow and the McMorrow family who coordinated the project at the Bee Park and from their home.
Minor/U16 Ladies
Our Minor Ladies team continued their winning ways last week with two wins over St Phelims on a scoreline of 9-20 to 3-3 on Tuesday evening and St Brigids on a scoreline of 7-16 to 0-6 on Thursday. The girls gave two excellent team displays on both days especially given the number of girls also involved in the Senior Championship the previous Sunday. This Tuesday the girls travel to Carrick to take on St Mary’s/Annaduff and they will be hoping to maintain their 100% success rate. We wish the girls and management all the best. Our U16 game versus Allen Gaels was postponed on Sunday morning last due to an unplayable pitch. The girls hope to get their 2017 campaign started this Sunday versus St Marys at home at 11am. Best of Luck to Maire, Neil and the girls and please support if you can.
Wedding Bells
Congrats to club player Melissa Hewitt and Adrian Reynolds who tied the knot last Saturday and former player Paul Boylan and Michelle McTernan who were married on Friday last. Good luck and best wishes to both couples for the future from all in Glencar Manor GAA Club.
Hurling
Well done to our Senior Hurlers who represented the Club as Leitrim County Champions 2016 as the All Ireland 7’s in Dublin at the weekend.
Senior Championship
Our Seniors drew with St Mary’s on Saturday evening in Ballinamore, a result which seen them finish 2nd on scoring difference in their group (0-10 apiece). They play county champions Aughawillan in the Quarter Finals this Saturday at 6.30 in Páirc Seán in a repeat of last year’s county final. It should be a cracker. Please support our lads.
Junior A Championship
Our second string drew with Melvin Gaels in the quarter finals of the Junior A Championship on Sunday last in Glencar Community Park (2-8 apiece). The replay has being fixed for Saturday 16th September at 6pm at the same venue.
Underage Championships
Our U13’s received a walkover from Leitrim Gaels last Friday evening – their 3rd in this championship campaign. Their last game is scheduled to be against Gortletteragh. Both teams currently sit joint top in the 15 aside championship table on 12 points with Manor claiming the top spot courtesy of scoring average. This game should be a thriller. Our U15s played table toppers Kilmore Gaels last Monday evening in Boggaun in their final championship group game. Please continue your support to our underage teams.
U8/U10 Blitz
Our U8s and U10s play Dromahair this Wednesday evening in Boggaun. There should be plenty of fun so be sure to come along.
U11 Tournament
An U11 Tournament will take place in Annaduff this Saturday and our club will be involved.
