Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher GAA Club Notes 03/10/2018

Lotto – Our monthly lotto draw took place on Sunday last. Numbers drawn were 23, 24, 27 & 36. There was no winner of our jackpot. Consolation prizes were €20: Joe McHugh, Glenfarne, €10 each: Linda Slevin, Glenfarne & Pat Gallery Blacklion. Thanks to all those who purchased tickets.

Junior A Final – We play Glencar/Manorhamilton on Saturday at 4:30pm in Ballinamore in the Junior A Championship County Final. We hope to see the area decked out in black and white over the coming days to show the support to our players and management. We wish them the best of luck on Saturday.

White Collar Boxing – We are holding a White Collar Boxing Event on Saturday 27th October. Tickets for this event go on sale next week priced at €10. Any business willing to come on board with sponsorship please contact Éilis McGourty or Assumpta Clancy.

Junior A Championship – A huge well done to the team and management of Joe Keaney, Michael McGuire & Dermot O’Rourke on reaching the Junior A Championship final. We bet St. Mary’s on Saturday evening in the semi final on a score line of 1-13 to 1-8. Our team and scorers were: Stephen McPartland, Brian Fox, Conor O’Rourke, John McLoughlin, Dermot Harkin, Robbie Broughton, Jamie Kiernan, Sean McLoughlin, Fergal Clancy (0-8), Diarmuid Clancy  (0-1), Darren Murray (0-1), Barry McDermott (0-1), Oisin McDermott, Niall Clancy (0-1), Padraig Sweeney (1-1). Subs: Niall McManus for Oisin McDermott, Neville McDermott, Sean Dillon, Jonathan Keaney, JJ McManus, Cian Fox, Evan Kerrigan, Ronan Magill.  We play our neighbours Glencar/Manorhamilton in the final with date, venue and time to be confirmed. 

 

Club Merchandise – There are hats, flags, bunting and streamers for sale in the club colours in Clancy’s of Glenfarne. 

 

Leitrim Team – We wish Padraig McGourty the best of luck as a selector with the new Leitrim management team. Padraig started his playing career with the club as a goalkeeper and played up until 2016 with the club. He managed teams at all levels with the club and has served on the club committee until 2016 also. He currently is the manager of Coolaney/Mullinabreena and we wish him and the team the very best of luck this weekend as they play Tubbercurry in the Sligo Senior Championship semi final.

Junior A Championship – We play St. Mary’s on Saturday at 4pm in Pairc Sean in the Junior A Championship semi-final. We wish the players and management the best of luck. Please come out and show your support for them.

White Collar Boxing – We are holding a white collar boxing event on Saturday 27th October. Our boxers have started training and we thank all those for taking part. Further information will be released in the coming weeks about this event.

Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher GAA Club Notes 04/09/2018

Junior A Championship – Well done to the lads on a great win over Annaduff in the Junior A Quarter Finals. Final Score was 3-12 to 3-8. We play the semi-final weekend of 22/23rd September. The draw for the semi-final will be made next weekend.

Wedding bells – We wish Donnacha Keaney, Kiltyclogher and Leanne Connolly, Manorhamilton a huge congratulations on their marriage on Saturday. We wish you both many happy and healthy years together.

All Ireland Tickets – The club received two tickets for the All Ireland Football and Hurling Finals. Assumpta Clancy and Joe Keaney got the hurling final tickets and Joe Keaney and Éilis McGourty were the lucky recipients of the football tickets. We hope ye enjoyed the game.

Sympathy – The club expresses its deepest sympathy with our club chairman Anthony Clancy and his family on the death of his sister Margaret in Newry. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Junior A Quarter Final – We play Annaduff on Saturday at 5pm in Pairc Sean in the Junior A Quarter Final. We wish the team and management the best of luck.

Ladies Final – We wish Glencar/Manorhamilton ladies and management team the best of luck in the Senior Final on Saturday at 6:30pm especially Ailbhe Clancy, Laoise Clancy and Mairead Clancy.

Pools Competition – We are running a pools competition for the All Ireland Final. Each square is €10. These can be purchased from Joe Keaney or any of the footballers.

Junior A Championship – Well done to the team and management for making three wins from three in the final group game of the championship against Drumkeerin on Saturday evening in Drumshanbo on a scoreline of 0-17 to 1-4. We play Annaduff in the Quarter Final of the Junior A Championship on Saturday 1st September with time and venue to be confirmed.

October Bank Holiday Weekend – We will be holding a white collar boxing event on October Bank Holiday weekend. We have a number of local celebrities taking part. If there is anyone interested in taking part please contact Assumpta Clancy, Seamus McSharry or any of our committee members.

Race Night – We are holding our annual race night in Ketty’s on Sunday at 10pm. Can all those selling horses please have the cards back to Éilis McGourty by lunchtime on Wednesday.

Leitrim – Hard luck to Leitrim team and management on the loss to Monaghan. After the good displays this year we can look forward to a bright future with this young team.

Baby News – Congratulations to Clare and David Poniard on the birth of their baby girl Anna over the weekend. Special word of congratulations to the proud grandparents Geraldine and Francis McLoughlin.

Race Night – We are holding a race night Sunday 5th August in Ketty’s. Horses will be on sale this weekend from all footballers and committee members. They are €10 per horse. Any businesses wishing to sponsor a race please contact Éilis McGourty or Assumpta Clancy.

Division 3 League – We played St. Mary’s on Sunday in Pairc Naomh Mhuire. We suffered a loss on the day when a clear goal was denied by the man in the middle and suffered the loss of Cian Rock with a broken arm. We learn from the mistakes and move on to the next game. Final Score was 1-18 to 3-5. Our team and scorers were: Stephan McPartland, Jonathan Keaney, Brian Fox, John McLoughlin, Michael Gilgunn, Dermot Harkin, Niall McManus, Cian Rock (0-1), Dermot O’Rourke, Rory McLoughlin (1-0), Diarmuid Clancy (1-1), Shane McLoughlin, Gary Slevin, Darren Murray (1-2), Oisin McDermott (0-1) Subs: Darren McLoughlin for Cian Rock, Ronan Magill for Dermot O’Rourke, JJ McManus for Gary Slevin. Division 3 League – We were due to play Gortlettragh on Sunday last but the game was postponed until Sunday 3rd June due to a bereavement in Gortlettragh. The game is due to take place at 4pm in Glenfarne.

Glenfarne/Kilty GAA Bobble Hats – We have a number of club bobble hats for sale in Clancys. We have them in Black and White and Grey and Pink. These are €15.

Greenway Walk – A huge thank you to all those who supported our walk on May Bank Holiday weekend. We raised €645 and £5sterling. This money raised goes towards the running of the club.

Underage Academy – A huge well done to our U11s and U9s who played against Drumkeerin on Monday evening in Drumkeerin. There was some great football played by both teams and the future looks bright for these footballers. Training continues on Friday evening in the park at 6:30pm for U7s, U9s and U11s. Any one wishing to help out with coaching of these teams please contact Éilis McGourty or Joe Cullen.
