Leitrim Gaels GAA Club Notes 26/03/2018

Dunnes Bar Division 1 – Division 1 (Senior Football) returns to the club this weekend with an away fixture against Ballinamore, throw in at 6.30pm. It will be great to see you all out supporting the team. Good luck to Mal, Peter and Bobby on the season ahead.

Barna Recycling Under 13 League – The under 13 team had a win over Melvin Gaels on Sunday last. They play top of table Mohill this evening Wednesday in Leitrim at 6pm. The Reserve team plays Mohill at 7pm. The team plays St Josephs at home on Monday at 6pm.

Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League – The Under 17 team are away to Mohill on Saturday at 12 noon. They play Fenagh at home in Leitrim on Wednesday next at 6:30pm.

Membership – Membership is due. Non-Playing Member €25, Playing Adult €60, Student/Juvenile €40 and Underage €20. There will be a registration session at the clubhouse on Monday from 4-5.30pm prior to Under 13 game. Club Gear will be available at the registration – calendar’s, bobble hats and those wanting to order half zip tops.

Easter Camp – Easter camp for underage will be held in Leitrim Gaels’ pitch next week 3rd to 6th of April from 10 -2 pm for members & non-members. Secure a place by contacting Carmel Curley 087997231.

Leitrim Seniors – Well done to Colm and Aidan and the Leitrim seniors winning their final league game against Wicklow on Sunday last, before the trip to New York in May.

Leitrim Gaels GAA Club Notes 21/03/2018

Swan Bar Division 4 – The Division 4 team play Ballinaglera at home in Leitrim on Saturday evening at 5pm.

Under 13 League – The under 13 team have a busy week ahead. They play St Mary in the Leauge at 5pm This evening Wednesday. The under 13-reserve team play St Marys at 6pm.On Sunday theyu are down to play Melvin Gaels Away at 12 pm in Kinlough, but this is subject to change.

Un7,9 and 11s – Training continues Friday evening for all girls and boys in the area. Under 7 Boys and Girls from 6-7pm. Under 9 and 11 boys and girls 7-8pm. Thanks to all the underage players who turned out in their club colours for the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Carrick.

Membership – Membership for 2018 is now due. All players from underage to senior must pay membership for insurance reasons while training and playing for the club. The membership funds go towards for players the €2,700 Player Injury Fund that we have to contribute to each year to cover potential insurance claims and for non-playing members toward the €1,800 we pay for public liability and property insurance to the GAA.

Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League – Our under 17 team play Allen Gaels at home in Leitrim on Saturday at 11am.

Under 7,9 and 11s – Training continues Friday evening for all girls and boys in the area. Training will be indoors for the first few weeks in the hall at Leitrim Gaels community field facilities. Under 7 Boys and Girls from 6-7pm. Under 9 and 11 boys and girls 7-8pm. This will carry on until we go outside in late March. Registration is due and will be collected on Friday night. Also, all under age are invited to take part in St Patrick’s day parade in Carrick, in your club colours. The arrangements will be made at training on Friday.

As usual, there is a wide range of decent prizes for all members entered in the draw. You also get a car Sticker showing your support for Leitrim. Tickets are priced at €50.They can also be purchased in Mc Cormack’s Filling station.

Barna Recycling Under 13 league – On Saturday last we had to travel to Blacklion to play Glencar Manorhamilton in round 2 of the league, we had a good win with final score Glencar/Manorhamilton 0- 03 Leitrim Gaels 2-17. Congratulations to the management and team. Training continues this evening from 7 to 8:15. Next league game is a home against Mohill on Sunday. Our reserve team will also play Mohill on Sunday.

Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League – Our under 17 team had their first win in this competition on Saturday morning last when they played Sean O Heslins in Ballinamore final score Sean O Heslins 1-09 Leitrim Gaels 3-09. Congratulations to the management and team. Next league game this Saturday morning at 12 noon against Fenagh in Leitrim.

Leitrim Gaels GAA Club Notes 20/02/2018

Under 13 league – This year we have two under 13 teams. We are taking part in the 15 a side and reserve leagues. On Sunday last we played Dromahair in both completions, we had a good victory over Dromahair in both games. Congratulations to the management team. Training continues this evening from 7 to 8.15.We have a challenge game on Thursday evening at 7 in Ballyfarnon against Shannon Gaels. Next league game against Glencar/Manorhamilton on Saturday in Manorhamilton at 3:30pm.

Under 17 League – Our under 17 team began their campaign on Saturday morning last when they played St Josephs in Carrigallen. St Josephs were the stronger team and won by six points. The club wishes Donal Casey a speedy recovery and hope it will not be long before he is back playing again. Next league game this Saturday morning at 12 noon against Sean o Heslins in Ballinamore.

Horse Racing Money – Can all outstanding Race night money be paid as soon as possible, allowing for Rarenight winners to be paid out.

Underage – The under 17 kick off the competitive action for the club year when they start their league campaign on Saturday next hosting St Josephs in Leitrim at 12 Noon. The Under 13 team are in action on Sunday and will host Dromahair at home in Leitrim at 12 noon. Best of luck to both teams and management.

Congratulations – Big congratulations to Jacqui and Eunan Treacy on the birth of their Baby Girl Isla Last week.

Gaeltacht Grant – Leitrim County Board and Leitrim County Council have agreed on a scheme for Gaeltacht Grants for 2018. Applications will be accepted from boys and girls resident in Leitrim and, for these grants, they do not need to be members of GAA clubs. Grants of €200 will be awarded to the successful applicants who will be drawn from a hat. Applicants who were unsuccessful under the GAA’s own scheme will be included in the draw and need not apply again. Application forms can be found on the Leitrim GAA website and should be returned to Oifigeach Cultúr agus Teanga, Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada, Cora Droma Ruisc, Co Liatroma by 5 pm on Friday, February 16th. Race Night – A big thank you to everyone who supported our Annual race night on Saturday last. The club would like to especially thank all those who purchased horses and sponsored races. A full list of sponsors and Winners will be included next week. Special thanks also to all club members who helped on the night. There were a total of 492 horses sold, which is a great achievement. We would appreciate if all money outstanding could be collected so we can start to pay out on the winning horses.

Underage – The Under 17 & 13 league is due to start in 2 weeks but we are awaiting county board confirmation of fixtures.

Membership – Membership is now due and there will be a registration weekend coming up. All players from underage to adult must be paid up members before playing any game for Insurance purposes.

County Team – Congratulation to Colm and Aidan on starting for the county team at the weekend, a great achievement for the club. Their next outing is at home to Laois on Sunday at 2pm in Pairc Sean. We also Congratulate Shaun Chandler, Narada Protrasco, Stephen Mc Dermott, Donal Moreton and Patrick Flynn on making the County Under 20 panel.
