Leitrim GAA – Massive congrats to the Leitrim team on getting promoted to Division 3 and we look forward to making the trip to Croke Park on March 30th to cheer the lads on in the final.

County Team – Congratulations to the County players and management on promotion to Division 3 and a place in the Div 4 final in Croke Park at the end of March. The game against London was a nervous affair and underfoot conditions did not help but the team never lost their concentration and there were great celebrations when the game was over. Our lads Domhnaill and Shane were not found wanting and both have contributed immensely in every game. Our roguish Shane Quinn scored an important goal. Shane is striving to outdo his father Mickey Quinn (Cloone) who in 1990 scored a vital goal in a play-off that gave Leitrim promotion to Division 2. Shane has a long road ahead to catch up on his father’s feats- but it’s a start.

Recent Death – We extend deepest sympathy to the family of Maura Ridge who died in Westport last week. Maura was wife of the late Art and mother of Avril and Martin. Martin played underage for Mohill and Art was also heavily involved in football and hurling in this club. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Kiltubrid were the winners but we congratulate everyone who turned up in such awful weather. Underage Games – The Under 17s will play Allen Gaels under lights in Cloone on Wednesday in Cloone at 6.45. Under 13s continue their campaign and played MacDiarmada Gaels  in Cloone on Tuesday last. Report in next week’s paper.

Fundraising – We are giving notice that there will be a big fundraiser in June/July to keep the club running. Catering for an amazing amount of adults and children costs a lot of money each year and without the support of the ordinary people of Mohill and the surrounding parishes the club would not survive. People are also urged to join the Lotto which if fully subscribed would also be a great help. Join online by logging intohttps://play.clubforce.com/play_newa.asp?LL_ID=1283#Anchor

Junior A League – Our first outing in the league campaign proved to be something of a wake-up call resulting in a heavy defeat away to Allen Gaels on Saturday afternoon. We can make all the excuses we like, a gale force wind, injuries and absentees, the time of year etc. but in the end we were beaten by a much better side on the day. There’s only one way to go from here. We have no match this coming weekend.
U13s – Our under 13s lost to Melvin Gaels at the weekend after a much improved performance by all accounts. Keep it going lads!
