Senior Championship

Thanks to the hard work of mentors and players over the last nine months the people of Mohill can now enjoy the build-up to the County Senior Final in two weeks time. St Mary’s were at their peak on Saturday last and only a point separated the sides at the end of a tough but sporting encounter. Glencar-Manorhamilton will be our opposition on October 8. Get out your flags and buntings now and light up the town.

Under 13

After a long year of disappointments and near misses, the Under 13s, at last, got their hands on silverware, when they beat Drumshanbo in the shield final in perfect conditions in Fenagh on Sunday morning. This was a brilliant game of football with all the skills on view and only a point separating the teams in the end. Luke Bohan pulled off some great saves in goal while Adam McGuiness, Daniel Scott, Michael Tiernan, Eoghan Duignan, Jack Rowley and Cathal Donoghue were heroic in defence. James Foy and the towering Conor Keegan played very well at centre field, Conor covered every inch of the pitch and saved many attacks on the goal, he also scored 1-3. The forwards worked tirelessly and took their scores well, Senan Curran, Thomas McNabola 1-0, Colin McNamara 0-1, Shane Duignan, Matthew Murphy our top scorer all year scored 1-10 and Michael McDonagh. Subs were, Aidan Mulligan, Diarmuid Casey, Brandon Logan, Liam Flynn, Shane Mulligan, Anthony Lubey, Harry Boyle and the two injured goalies Oskar Moj and Aaron McCrann. We thank Paul Murphy, Seamus Tiernan, Kevin Curran and John McGuiness for looking after the boys.

Intermediate Championship
Hard luck to our seniors who were defeated by a superior Aughnasheelin team in the semi final of the intermediate championship in Ballinamore last Sunday. The damage was done in the 1st half where we were left trailing by 1-10 to 0-03 at half time. We performed much better in the second half, led by an ageless Andrew McManus, but our opponents were always able to maintain their first half score advantage. Final score: Aughnasheelin 1-17 Carrigallen 0-10. Team & scorers: Darren Kenny, Anthony Kenny, Barry Nash, Barry Reilly, Daniel Lyons, Barry Dolan, David Reilly, Eoin Ward (0-4), Darran Reilly,  Gerard McDermott (0-1), Thiernan O’Rourke (0-3), Ciaran Kenny, Marc Dolan, Ciaran Flynn (0-1) & Colm Kiernan. Subs: Andrew McManus (0-1) for Barry Dolan, Brian O’Rourke for Ciaran Kenny, Ciaran Reilly for Colm Kiernan, Derek Reilly for Daniel Lyons & Sean McCabe for Marc Dolan.

Intermediate – The Intermediate team booked themselves a place in the county final after seeing off a very good Drumkeeran side in the semi-finals in Ballinamore on Sunday afternoon. Trailing by 6 points the Gaels pulled in back with a goal from Liam Moreton and some great points from Aidan Flynn, Eunan Tracey and Shaun Chandler. Every player put their heart on the line in truly epic comeback to emerge victorious 1-13 to 1-10.  The final is against Aughnashellin on Sunday 8th October at 1:30 pm in Pairc Sean. The team would like to thank our supporters, the last 3 games the Gaels support has increased, as has the decibel level of noise. RESULTS:

On Saturday evening our Seniors were within a point of reaching the finals, unfortunately the fairytale was not to be as we were beaten by Mohill by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-10. This team can be very proud of themselves this year. They gave it their all on Saturday last and with only a kick of a ball in it we count ourselves unlucky not to be preparing for a County final on Sunday week.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the players, management and supporters for all their hard work and commitment during the year and we will be back again next year fighting and looking to claim the Fenagh Cup once more.

Congratulations to our U13(13) who beat Drumkeerin on Friday evening in the Barna Recycling Championship.

Hard luck to our U17 (15) who were beaten by St. Brigids in the John McCartin-Newtowngore Championship.

LADIES ALL IRELAND FINAL:

Barna Recycling U-13 Boys 15 aside Shield Final
The boys were pipped at the last by Mohill after a thrilling encounter in Fenagh on Sunday morning with the final score 4-10 to 3-15. We led at the break by 3-08 to 2-09 after an end to end half with our goals coming from Mark Reynolds, Cian Dennis & Jake Tobin. Mohill started the better after the interval and levelled after 5 minutes. Ciaran McMorrow, who is just back from injury after a year on the sidelines, hit 2 quick fire points as the teams traded scores. A goal from Jake Tobin put us in the lead with time running out but Mohill struck a goal themselves in the last minute & added a point in injury time to seal the win. Well done to Cyril, Kenneth, Enda, Farrell and the team who played their hearts out not just on Sunday but throughout the championship. The team was: Rory O’Donnell, Fionn Gilraine, Padraig Keane, James O’Connor, Aiden Dowler, Damien Gilmartin, Karl Foley, Jake Tobin (2-01), Liam McGourty (0-03), Dean Cornyn (0-01), Mark Reynolds (1-02) Arik Oberwan (0-01), Ray McGarry, Hassan Deen Swarray, Cian Dennis (1-00), Daniel O’Loughlin, Ruairi Greer, Prezemek Zaremba, Ciaran McMorrow (0-02), James Rock, Thomas McKeon, Adam Casey.
