Senior Championship We exited the Championship on Saturday evening last in disappointing circumstances when Drumreilly deservedly took both points in an engaging game in Páirc Seán, After a good start where the Bors led by 0-3 to 0-1, Drumreilly struck clinically for two well taken goals leaving the Bors on the back foot going into the second half, six points in arrears – 2-3 to 0-3. Drumreilly got the fast start in the second half and extended the lead to 8 points before the Bors hit back with a goal from Allan Croghan followed by a Damian Mc Guinness point. However, four wides in a row and the passing up of an excellent one on one goal chance proved crucial as Bornacoola failed to capatilise on the scoreboard from a period of solid pressure. Drumreilly eventually reasserted their dominance towards the end of the game and finished strongly to run out 6 point winners as Bornacoola finished the game with 13 men following two late dismissals. Team on duty was Mark Mc Closkey, David Mulligan, Jason Conroy, Brian Duffy, Shane Conroy, Damian Mc Guinness (0-1), Allan Croghan (1-1), Michael Duignan, Gary Mc Cloksey, Brian Conroy (0-1), Sean Mc Keon, Ollie Vaughan (0-2), Trevor Howard, Conor Mc Cauley, Philip Howard (0-1), Subs used were Liam Mulligan, Ronan Mulligan, Mervyn Howard and Kevin Shanley.

Lough Rynn Harvest Festival & Vintage Day Our thanks to all who helped out at the Harvest Festival and Vintage Day last Sunday in Lough Rynn. Once again it was a tremendous success; well done again to the fantastic organising committee who manage to deliver such a wonderful occasion year after year. Maith sibh.

Senior Relegation Following defeat on Saturday evening, the Seniors now face Gortletteragh in a Relegation semi-final in Carrigallen on Saturday evening at 5pm.

Minor/U16 Ladies

Our Minor Ladies team continued their winning ways last week with two wins over St Phelims on a scoreline of 9-20 to 3-3 on Tuesday evening and St Brigids on a scoreline of 7-16 to 0-6 on Thursday. The girls gave two excellent team displays on both days especially given the number of girls also involved in the Senior Championship the previous Sunday. This Tuesday the girls travel to Carrick to take on St Mary’s/Annaduff and they will be hoping to maintain their 100% success rate. We wish the girls and management all the best.  Our U16 game versus Allen Gaels was postponed on Sunday morning last due to an unplayable pitch. The girls hope to get their 2017 campaign started this Sunday versus St Marys at home at 11am. Best of Luck to Maire, Neil and the girls and please support if you can.

Senior Championship

It was another impressive victory on Saturday evening in Cloone for the senior lads, this time they were up against an equally impressive Mohill team where a win for either team would cement their place at the top of group one. The lads were in flying form and certainly started the much brighter of the two and within the first quarter were leading by six points with the score 0:8 to 0:2 with some magnificent scores. Mohill improved over the next 10 minutes and added four of their own points before Ballinamore were to get their next and despite our early dominance we only wet in leading by two points with the halftime score 0:9 to 0:7. Within a minute of the restart Niall scored another great point before Mohill again pulled one back, it was not until the 43rd Minute that the game swung back to Ballinamore with Niall grabbing a very important goal after a Wayne free came back of the upright. Mohill were not to be denied and added a couple of impressive points of their own before Ballinamore scored three massive points each better than the last, first up was Wayne with a free, followed by Niall again after great run by Brian Leydon and again Niall with another impressive score, this left the score at 1:13 to 10 going into the last 5 minutes. Mohill grabbed another two points before Paddy grabbed the final point of the game to leave the final score Ballinamore 1:14 Mohill 0:12

Well done to all the lads hey put in a great performance all over the pitch

Oughteragh Gaels

Oughteragh Ladies reach the Championship Final!

Congratulations to our ladies team who will contest this year’s Intermediate Championship Final against Mohill on September 10th following a brilliant win over St Frances’ in Bornacoola. We eventually emerged as 3-11 to 2-10 victors in what was an enthralling game throughout but had to battle back from a 5 point deficit at half-time and the attitude on show was nothing short of exceptional. September will be a big month for the club with two finals on the way and anyone who is available to come out and support on either date, please do so.

Team: Lisa Maguire, Leanne McGrath, Ciara O’Dowd, Abbi Sweeney, Aoibheann Flynn, Kirby Gilgunn, Katie Duignan, Eilish O’Dowd, Roisin McHugh (0-7), Emma McGovern (1-1), Laura O’Dowd (1-2), Maeve Hamill, Siobhan Earley (1-1), Mary McNulty, Ciara McGoldrick.

Under 13 Boys

SOH U13 Boys suffered defeat in rain soaked Annaduff on a score line of 5:10 to 3:12. Great credit to both sides in a hard fought encounter with both sets of players giving their all. Squad:
Adam Kaminski , Akin Talabi , Micheal O’Brien, Dara Gavin , Killian Maguire, Colm Gartland Tommy Smith, Cian McGovern, Sam Cullen, Liam Reynolds, Dylan Reynolds, Paul Moran, Thomas Brady, Eoin Connaughton, Oisin McCarty, Cathal McCarty, Gavin D’Arcy, Naoise McManus, Paul Honeyman, Brian Sweeney.

Senior Championship

Our Seniors sustained a dint in their armour on Sat last when Ballinamore outsmarted them in the Championship, next weekend they play Allen Gaels so hopefully they will get back on track then. The game is in Carrigallen on Sat at 5pm followed by the Intermediates game

Intermediate Championship

Glenfarne gave the points to us on Sunday last. Sad to see a proud Club so short of numbers. We hope things will improve for them

Junior Championship

These lads had a good win over Ballinagleara at the weekend so well done to them

Under 17

After a great win last weekend over St Joseph’s these young men came crashing to earth when they were comprehensively beaten by a strong Carrick side. Scorers were, Johnny Boyle 0-3 and Jordan Reynolds 1-3.

Under 13

This team also suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Manorhamilton in their new pitch. There is a game tonight Wed in Pairc Philib Mhic Aonghusa. Come out and support all these teams.

Senior Championship We suffered a disappointing defeat in Round 4 of the Senior Championship when Dromahair were deserved 2-11 to 0-14 victors over the Bors in Ballinamore on Saturday evening last. The dismissal of Damian Moran in the first period was a significant blow for Bornacoola and one from which we never recovered. It now means that this weekend’s game against Drumreilly is a must win fixture – throw-in in Páirc Seán for this one will be 5.15pm.

Lough Rynn Harvest Festival & Vintage Day The biggest day in the parish calendar comes to pass again next Sunday when all roads lead to Lough Rynn Castle for the 2017 Lough Rynn Harvest Festival and Vintage day. And what a day it promises to be with a bumper list of attractions – something for every member of the family. So come early, enjoy the festival and the beautiful venue and then relax and finish the day (with a dance) to the great sound of Mick Flavin and his band. Club members will again be performing stewarding on the day and we’d ask as many of our players and members as possible to make themselves available to help out on the day.

Club Draw Our thanks to Derek and staff at the Copper Still for hosting the August Club Draw on Saturday night last – winners were: €100 Ruby Shanley €20 Paddy Joyce, Pat Farrell (Esker), Deirdre Mc Keon, Gerry Gearty and Mervyn Howard.

Junior B Championship The Junior team exited the championship on Sunday morning last when they were overpowered by St Caillins on a 2-16 to 1-9 scoreline. Goals in either half for the Fenagh men proved crucial and it was the victors who led by 1-8 to 0-5 at the interval. A second goal put the game beyond the Bors although a late John Shanley effort briefly offered some hope. Team on duty was Conor Hackett, Luke Jones, Brian Reilly, Kevin Mulligan (0-1), Tony Shanley (0-1), Liam Mulligan (0-1), Gearoid Mulligan, Mervyn Howard, Daniel Farrell (0-1), Roy Keenan (0-1), Liam Jones, Jonathan Duffy (0-1), Gerry Gearty, John Shanley (1-1) and Noel Mc Enroe (0-2). Subs used were John Bohan and Declan Conboy.

Ladies Championship The Bornacoola/St Mary’s Ladies team face Annaduff this Sunday (September 3rd). Time and venue to be confirmed but keep an eye on our facebook page later in the week for same. Best of luck to all involved.

Golden Goal Mayo will aim to end 66 years of hurt when they face Dublin this year’s All Ireland final and we will once again be running a Golden Goal competition for the big game – the first prize of €500 will be paid to the person who purchases the ticket with the correct time in which the first goal will be scored in the final on September 17th. Tickets will be going on sale shortly from Club members at €5 each for which you are randomly allocated four specific times. The more times you enter, the better chance you have of winning. Best of luck!
