Aughavas GAA Club Notes 13/02/2019

LOTTO – There was no Jackpot winner in the Lotto on Sunday 10th February: the numbers drawn were 6-7-5-2-3-1-0-4.  €30 winners on the night were McKiernan Family Monaghan, Nuala McCabe, Mary Moran, Peter & Ellen Curran, Anna McKiernan.  The House prize sponsored by the Dugout was won by Gerry Kiernan. The next Lotto draw will be on Saturday 23rd February with Dan & Noel’s team hosting the draw. The Jackpot now stands at €12,800.

CLUB & EXECUTIVE MEETING – Our next meeting takes place on Friday 15th February in the Clubrooms at 9pm.

LEITRIM SUPPORTERS TICKETS – The annual Leitrim Supporters tickets are on sale and can be purchased from any Club Officer.  Tickets are €50.  First prize is €5,000. Draw takes place on Saturday 9th April, 2019.

Ballinaglera GAA Club Notes 13/02/2019

200 Club Draw – 200 club draw tickets can be bought from club members now at €24 for the year. First draw takes place on February 26th at the next club meeting. Please return the tickets to Noel Mc Morrow by the 24th February.

Leitrim – Well done to Leitrim men who made it three wins from three against Antrim on Sunday. Congratulations also to Leitrim ladies who bet Derry on Sunday. Good luck this weekend against Antrim.

Leitrim Gaels GAA Club Notes 13/02/2019

Underage 13/17 – The under 13 and under 17 teams start off the football for the year in the club. On Saturday the under 13 team play Melvin Gaels away in Kinlough at 11am.then on Sunday the under 17 team host Drumkeeran at home in Leitrim 12 noon. Best of luck to both teams this year.

Registration Evening – Leitrim Gaels registration and information evening this Friday evening 15th February at 6pm. We have teams for under 7 boys and girls, under 8 girls, under 9 boys under 10 and under 12 girls Under 12, 13, 15 and boys teams. All players must be registered before training commences. County Team – Well done to Aidan Flynn and the Leitrim county team who had another brilliant win over Antrim in Avantcard Páirc Seán MacDiarmada at the weekend. They have a break this weekend before they travel to play Limerick on Saturday 23rd February.

Fundraising Night – The Village Spot Festival Committee are delighted to have Cavan Rugby Club Male Voice Choir appearing in Leitrim Gaels Community Field Clubhouse on Saturday the 16th of February 2019 at 8pm.

As space is limited we are selling tickets for the event for comfort and safety. Tickets are €10 and €5 for under 16s. Tickets are available from Colette Ryan, Bryan Whitney and Jonathon Moffatt and can also be got in local businesses. Promises to be a great night.

Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 13/02/2019

Club Awards Night – Our annual club awards night takes place this Saturday 16th February at 8pm in the Bee Park Community Centre. Our Feile boys team, our U16 championship-winning girls team and our senior men and ladies league winning teams will receive their medals on the night and we will also announce our players of the year and club person of the year.  Everyone is welcome to join in our night of celebration.

Leitrim – A great weekend for Leitrim football with our senior men and women both winning at home.  It was great to see such good support for the two teams but such a pity the games clashed as we all need to row in behind both teams.

Registration Night – Thank you to everyone for registering to become a fully paid up member of our club last Friday night.  We will be holding our last Registration Night for all players and supporters to pay their membership this Friday the 15th from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.  Membership rates for the 2019 season are as follows:  U10 Girls & Boys –  €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at this age group €20 each. U11 Boys – €30, U12 to U18 Girls – €40, U13 to U18 Boys -€40, Adult Players – €80 and Social Members – €30. A family membership rate of €120 max per family has been introduced for the coming season.  This applies to families who are registering their juvenile players who are under the age of 18 and the parents/guardians.

U13 and U17 Leagues – Good luck to our U13 teams who kick off their league campaign against Mohill away this Saturday the 16th at 3pm and 4.15pm and to our U17s who have a home game against St Marys on this Sunday the 17th at 12pm in Boggaun.  Please show your support.

Connacht Champions – Huge congrats to St Clare’s Comprehensive School girls football team who were crowned Connacht Junior B champions on Saturday last in Swinford defeating a highly rated Glenamaddy Community School in an epic encounter.  A fantastic achievement for the Leitrim school with the team made up of players from counties Leitrim and Cavan.  They have now won consecutive D, C and B Connacht titles and will play the Leinster champions in the All Ireland semi-final in March.

Gaelic4Girls – Glencar Manorhamilton Ladies Club is delighted to announce details of an exciting new programme for our club called Gaelic4Girls. The aim of this programme is to allow girls aged between 8 to 12 years old, who are not currently registered with a Club, to get an introduction to Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun non-competitive environment. The programme will start on Monday 4th of March; 7pm to 8pm at St Clare’s Primary School Astro Pitch. The cost of the programme is €10, and all of the girls will be presented with a jersey and a certificate for their participation. Comhghairdeas Leitrim GAA – What a weekend for Leitrim GAA fans and teams with the Senior Mens and Ladies both recording victories along with our u14 girls who also put in a fantastic display beating Derry by 1 point, the club was well represented at the weekend with Dean McGovern, Shane Moran, Oisin McCaffrey, Darren Maxwell all part of the Senior team, we were also well represented in the ladies team that also won against Derry with Emma McGovern, Eilish O’Dowd, Laura O’Dowd, Laoise Moran King and Abbie Sweeney in action for the county, at u14 we were well represented with Adrian Murphy coaching the u14 and Laura Maguire, Lizzie O’Connell, Ella van der Laan, Teagan McGloin, Aoibhinn Keegan and Kelly Beirne all pulling on the Leitirm jerseys. Fantastic results and well done to all the players

Scor Na Og – All Ireland Final is taking place on Saturday 16th February in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The quiz is taking place in Castlebar De La Salle Sports Hall at 11am sharp where Leitrim will be represented by Ballinamore Sean O’ Heslins. Entry to the quiz will be free of charge. Under Age Boys Matches – The Sean MacDiarmada Gaels under 13 and under 17 teams will be in league action this weekend, with first up the u13 teams playing in Ballinamore at 11am on Saturday against Allen Gaels and Annaduff followed by the u17’s who will play their first match on Sunday at 12:00 in Mohill. Good luck to all the players and coaches, they have been training hard for the last few weeks and we wish them all well for the coming season

Ireland Lights Up – Ballinamore Lights Up – There was a great crowd at the pitch last Thursday evening for operation transformation and we hope everyone can brave the cold and make it again this Thursday ! Everyone is welcome, no matter what your fitness level or wether you want to run, walk or jog or to just meet with your friends for a chat

Clubrooms Historical Display – It is planned to put up a permanent display of photographs and memorabilia relating to the club in the clubrooms. Apart from photos, this could include old jerseys, programmes or any items relating to club players or successes in past years in football, hurling, Scór nó aon rud eile. Cúl Camps Venues 2019 – This year’s camp will be in Ballinamore from July 1st to the 5th, this is a great camp for all the children and further details for registering will follow shortly

Registration – Membership needs to be paid to, the club registrar, Gabriel Flynn ASAP. Under the new GDPR guidelines, it is vital that there is a form filled in for each child under 18 with registration. The under 9 Academy – need people this year to support the running and coaching of the children. Message PJ Ryan if you can give one hour a week, there are football skills training courses provided by the club. Tom Guckian RIP – Drumkeerin GAA would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Tom Guckian and also to St. Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club. A well respected man in the Leitrim GAA community, he will be sorely missed.

Fenagh St Caillin’s GAA Club Notes 06/02/2019

Dinner Dance – Friday night is the night, it promises to be a great occasion and a celebration of our 2018 Intermediate success with the presentation of the winners’ medals. See you all in Lough Rynn from 7.30pm.

Leitrim Abú – well done to the Leitrim team and management on another victory this time in the difficult venue of Aughrim. Ryan produced another fine performance scoring three points and that all important goal. This Sunday sees Antrim visit Avantcard Pairc Sean MacDiarmada so let’s get behind the Leitrim team and help their push for promotion.

Fenagh St Caillins Lotto – our lotto draw took place on Sunday night last in The Abbey Bar. The jackpot was €3200. Numbers drawn were 5 3 8 6 2 4 1 7. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners on the night were Adam Hunt, Kenneth Kilkenny and Ray Tubman with Eamon Tubman Jnr winning the annual ticket holders prize of €20. Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 06/02/2019

Leitrim – A terrific win away to Wicklow at the weekend made it two wins from two for our Leitrim footballers and with the visit of Antrim to Páirc Seán this Sunday let’s all make the effort to roll in behind this mighty bunch of players.  Our hurlers have been desperately unlucky over the last two weekends losing by a point to both Cavan and Sligo.  Hopefully, their luck will improve.

Sympathy – Our club members were shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the passing of a great GAA friend in Tom Guckian, Carrick on Shannon.  Tom was one of the most obliging club members we ever had the pleasure of dealing with down through the years whilst a visiting team to Páirc Seán or Páirc Tom.  He has left a lasting mark on all who knew him and his passing will leave a massive void. We extend our sympathies to his beloved family, many friends and his club St Mary’s GAA. Ár dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club.
