Aughawillan Lights Up – Aughawillan Lights Up continues this Tuesday after having a great couple of weeks to start off! With the weather turning cold, this week we hope that that doesn’t put people off! Wrap up well and brave the cold. Everyone is welcome, whether your aim is to get more active or to meet with your friends and neighbours more. Spread the word and bring a friend! Aughawillan Light Up takes place every Tuesday from January 15th until February 19th from 7 until 9pm with the hope that it will encourage all members of the community to socialize and stay active in a safe, bright environment.

Allianz Leagues 2019 – Well done to the Leitrim team who defeated Wexford in their opening League game and had the highest score of all teams competing last weekend. Underage Training – Training for u9s & u11s starts on Saturday 2nd February from 4-5pm in the Sports Complex for the next 6 weeks.

Junior Management – Thank you to Pat Flanagan & Pat Joe McNiffe for their contributions to the Junior team over the past couple of years, most notably winning the Junior B Championship. We are now looking for a new Junior management team for 2019, if you have any nominations for the job, please let Michael Quinn know.

Cards – Games of 25 have resumed on Friday evenings from 8.30-10 at Aughawillan Clubrooms. Come along & bring a friend!

Dinner Dance – A Dinner Dance to honour the first Senior and Junior Championship double in the club’s history is being held on Saturday 9th March in the Slieve Russel Hotel. Music on the night! Tickets are €35 and will be on sale in the coming weeks. You can book your tickets in advance, contact a member of the club executive.

Referees Wanted –  Young people with an interested in GAA are being asked to give refereeing a go! Its an excellent way for anyone who doesn’t play to get involved & a good opportunity for students to earn some pocket money! Anyone interested in getting involved in refereeing please contact a member of the club executive to sign up for more information.

 GALA DINNER – The club social event of the year takes place this Saturday night in The Landmark Hotel with our Gala Dinner. The Mallard Bar will be open from 7pm. SCÓR NA NÓG CONNACHT FINAL – Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Elsie Harman, Eleanor Smith and Rionach Nic Conmara will represent St. Mary’s, Leitrim and Connacht in the Scór na nÓg All Ireland Final on the 16th February in the TF Theatre in Castlebar.

The cost of admission tickets is €20 for adults and €15 for U16s this year. An all-in family package of €60.00 i.e. 2 adults @ €20 each plus 2 children U.16 @ €10 each will be available for the 2017 finals. LEITRIM SENIORS – Well done to Leitrim Senior football team and management who got the league off to a great start, winning their first game and beating Wexford on a score line on 3.15 to 0.11 in the Allianz football League in Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, hope the winning streak continues in Aughrim next Sunday where they take on Wicklow at 2.30pm

LEITRIM GAA AWARDS – Congratulations to Clement Cunniffe and Cian Singleton who received their awards for Senior Club Hurler of the Year and U16 County Player of the Year respectively at the Leitrim GAA Awards night last Friday night.

SYMPATHY – The club wishes to express its deepest sympathy to Patrick & Claire Reynolds and family on the recent death of Patrick’s mother Kathleen. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

The Under 9 Academy – need people this year to support the running and coaching of the children. Club Draw Tickets Currently On Sale – Tickets for the 2019 draw are on sale and teams of sellers are currently making the rounds of the parish and surrounding areas.

County Matters – Leitrim opened the Division 4 campaign with a great win at home to Wexford. Jack Heslin started in the forwards, with Francie Flynn named on the bench and David Mulvey also on the panel currently injured. Next up is a trip to Aughrim on Sunday at 2.30 to face Wicklow.

Congratulations Karl – Congratulations to Karl McDermott who received his Leitrim Senior County Hurler of the Year Award for 2018 at the Leitrim GAA Awards in the Bush Hotel on Friday night last.

Leitrim – Congrats to the Leitrim team captained by Paddy Maguire who had a terrific win against Wexford in Round 1 of the Allianz League on Sunday last in Páirc Seán.  Good luck to the team as they head to Aughrim this weekend to take on Wicklow.

New Arrival – Many congratulations to our senior footballer Darren Sweeney and his wife Claudia on the safe arrival of their baby boy recently.

5K Walk – Our 5k walk in association with Get Ireland Walking and Operation Transformation continues this Thursday night  meeting at the Bee Park dressing rooms at 6.45pm.

Making a Splash – A million thanks to all our brave clubmen who took to a freezing Glenade lake on Saturday and Glencar lake on Sunday for Adrian’s fundraiser.  We cannot adequately express how grateful we are to the many people who have donated from near and far during the month of January in aid of our new pitch development. Special mention again goes to Adrian O’Flynn – we deeply appreciate your unbelievable effort and sacrifice for Glencar Manor.

Recipe for Success – Thank you to St. Clare’s Comprehensive School and in particular Ms. Conaty and Niall Brady from NB Nutrition and Exercise who facilitated our U’15 boys’ team on Friday evening for the “Recipe for Success” programme.  This was a really enjoyable evening where hopefully all the lads learned the importance of cooking and eating healthily.  Sincere thanks also to Niall Brady and Ronan Flynn our clubs, Healthy Club Officers for arranging the event.  Do be sure to check out Niall’s Facebook Page NB Nutrition & Exercise for loads of tips for healthy eating.

Club Awards Night – Our club awards night will take place on Saturday 16th February at 8pm in the Bee Park Community Centre. More details to follow.

Registration Night – We will be holding our two Registration Nights for all players and supporters to pay their membership for the 2019 season on Friday 8th and Friday 15th of February from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.

2019 Membership Rates – Membership rates for the 2019 season are as follows:  U10 Girls & Boys –  €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at this age group €20 each. U11 Boys – €30, U12 to U18 Girls – €40, U13 to U18 Boys -€40, Adult Players – €80 and Social Members – €30. A family membership rate of €120 max per family has been introduced for the coming season.  This applies to families who are registering their juvenile players who are under the age of 18 and the parents/guardians.

Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February 2019.

Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. There were two changes to the executive with Declan Tiernan replacing Niall Brennan as Coaching officer and Aisling Brennan taking on the new position of Health and Wellbeing Officer.

Registration – There will be a registration night on Thursday, January 31st and Friday, February 1st in the Club House in the Park from 7 pm to 9 pm. All members asked to renew their Membership at this meeting and new members are welcome. Membership fees are as follows adult Player €50, Student Player € 30, Family membership € 40, Gym membership € 40, Social member €20.

Allianz Leagues –  Well done to the Leitrim who secured a great win against Wexford in Avantcard Páirc Seán MacDiarmada on Sunday last. It was a great start to the National League and the performance in the second half, in particular, was most encouraging. Well done to the team and management and a great start to Terry Hyland’s reign as manager. Next week it off to Wicklow for what could be a tricky encounter. Best of luck to all involved.

Cloone Lights UP – The Thursday light up is going very well with great numbers attending. It will continue for two more weeks.
