Aughawillan Lights Up – Aughawillan Lights Up continues this Tuesday after having a great couple of weeks to start off! With the weather turning cold, this week we hope that that doesn’t put people off! Wrap up well and brave the cold. Everyone is welcome, whether your aim is to get more active or to meet with your friends and neighbours more. Spread the word and bring a friend! Aughawillan Light Up takes place every Tuesday from January 15th until February 19th from 7 until 9pm with the hope that it will encourage all members of the community to socialize and stay active in a safe, bright environment.

Allianz Leagues 2019 – Well done to the Leitrim team who defeated Wexford in their opening League game and had the highest score of all teams competing last weekend. Score: Leitrim 3-15 Wexford 11 points. Best of luck to the team and management who are travelling to Joule Park, Aughrim to play Wicklow next Sunday, 3rd February at 2.30pm.

Underage Training – Training for u9s & u11s starts on Saturday 2nd February from 4-5pm in the Sports Complex for the next 6 weeks.

Junior Management – Thank you to Pat Flanagan & Pat Joe McNiffe for their contributions to the Junior team over the past couple of years, most notably winning the Junior B Championship. We are now looking for a new Junior management team for 2019, if you have any nominations for the job, please let Michael Quinn know.

Cards – Games of 25 have resumed on Friday evenings from 8.30-10 at Aughawillan Clubrooms. Come along & bring a friend!

Dinner Dance – A Dinner Dance to honour the first Senior and Junior Championship double in the club’s history is being held on Saturday 9th March in the Slieve Russel Hotel. Music on the night! Tickets are €35 and will be on sale in the coming weeks. You can book your tickets in advance, contact a member of the club executive.

Referees Wanted –  Young people with an interested in GAA are being asked to give refereeing a go! Its an excellent way for anyone who doesn’t play to get involved & a good opportunity for students to earn some pocket money! Anyone interested in getting involved in refereeing please contact a member of the club executive to sign up for more information.
Corraleehan Parish Walk – Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see you, everyone welcome.

St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 30/01/2019

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION 2019 – As part of the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ campaign St Mary’s Kiltoghert walking group continues this THURSDAY night. Meet at Páirc Naomh Mhuire at 8pm. There has been a great turnout the last few Thursdays so let’s keep it up.

 GALA DINNER – The club social event of the year takes place this Saturday night in The Landmark Hotel with our Gala Dinner. The Mallard Bar will be open from 7pm. The night will include a presentation of medals to our U20 men’s team and our Intermediate ladies with music by Late Nite Radio Band – Music That Moves You.  You will need your ticket to gain entry so please don’t forget them on the night and if you haven’t already purchased your ticket and intend going, please do so over the next few days by contacting Paula Butler 087 2480670 or Maureen Diffley 086 390 7092.  We look forward to seeing you there.

 UNDERAGE TRAINING – Our underage training is starting up again this Saturday 2nd February.

U-8 & U-10 girls training Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:00 in the sports complex

U12 girls training Saturdays from 12:00 to 1pm in the sports complex

U14 girls training Sundays from 5:00 to 6:00pm in Aura Astro Turf

U7s (mixed boys and girls) on Saturdays from 11-12 in the sports complex

U17 BOYS – Our U17 boys have started outdoor training on Wednesday nights at 8pm.  The league begins in mid-February.

Preparations are underway, however there is still time and if you or anyone you know may have an interest or a hidden talent that needs unleashing, please contact Laura on 087 9664406.  The categories are as follows: Quiz, Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation (Storytelling), Ballad Group, Léiriú (Drama), Instrumental Music, Set Dancing.

SCÓR NA NÓG CONNACHT FINAL – Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Elsie Harman, Eleanor Smith and Rionach Nic Conmara will represent St. Mary’s, Leitrim and Connacht in the Scór na nÓg All Ireland Final on the 16th February in the TF Theatre in Castlebar.

The cost of admission tickets is €20 for adults and €15 for U16s this year. An all-in family package of €60.00 i.e. 2 adults @ €20 each plus 2 children U.16 @ €10 each will be available for the 2017 finals. The cost of a third U16 ticket in the all-in family package will be €15. The number of packages will be limited and distributed on a first come first served basis.

LEITRIM SENIORS – Well done to Leitrim Senior football team and management who got the league off to a great start, winning their first game and beating Wexford on a score line on 3.15 to 0.11 in the Allianz football League in Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, hope the winning streak continues in Aughrim next Sunday where they take on Wicklow at 2.30pm

CLUB MEMBERSHIP 2019 – Club Membership for 2019 is now due, all members are asked to renew their Membership and new members are very welcome.  Registration will take place in the complex this Saturday from 10 to 11.30am and again on Friday 8th February from 7 to 8pm in the Clubhouse.  Membership fees are as follows: Adult Players €70, Unemployed Player €50, Third Level Student €50, Non-Player €40, Juvenile (up to minor) €40 (1st and 2nd Child) and €30 (3rdChild), Underage Family Membership to be capped at €130, Scór (€20 – Social) – (€10-U17).

LEITRIM GAA AWARDS – Congratulations to Clement Cunniffe and Cian Singleton who received their awards for Senior Club Hurler of the Year and U16 County Player of the Year respectively at the Leitrim GAA Awards night last Friday night.

SYMPATHY – The club wishes to express its deepest sympathy to Patrick & Claire Reynolds and family on the recent death of Patrick’s mother Kathleen. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Drumkeerin GAA Club Notes 30/01/2019

Registration – after mass on Sunday the 3rd of February in the handball alley. The fees are €60 for family, €40 adult and €30 student. Get sorted for the upcoming 2019 season.

Congratulations – Congrats to Adrian and Emma Smith of birth of son Blaine Eamon, from all the members of the club.

The Under 9 Academy – need people this year to support the running and coaching of the children. Message PJ Ryan if you can give one hour a week, there are football skills training courses provided by the club. For the academy to continue it needs people to volunteer their time, 1 hour per week, message PJ if you can support the children and club. PJ 0863149384

Leitrim GAA – Well done to Cathal, Shane and the Leitrim team on a brilliant start to the 2019 campaign. Very exciting start to the year for every Leitrim supporter. Best of luck to the team again this Sunday away against Wicklow.

Gortletteragh GAA Club Notes 30/01/2019

Club Draw Tickets Currently On Sale – Tickets for the 2019 draw are on sale and teams of sellers are currently making the rounds of the parish and surrounding areas.

Tickets are priced at €20 with a massive €5000 up for grabs as a first prize, which would definitely be a great way to round off the Winter.

Other prizes in the 2019 draw include;

The Draw takes place on the 16th Feb 2019 in the Welcome Inn Cornageeha, with a great night in store.

Senior & Junior Player of the Year for 2018 will be awarded and there will also be a House Draw for those in attendance on the night.

County Matters – Leitrim opened the Division 4 campaign with a great win at home to Wexford. Jack Heslin started in the forwards, with Francie Flynn named on the bench and David Mulvey also on the panel currently injured. Next up is a trip to Aughrim on Sunday at 2.30 to face Wicklow.

Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club 30/01/2019

Congratulations Karl – Congratulations to Karl McDermott who received his Leitrim Senior County Hurler of the Year Award for 2018 at the Leitrim GAA Awards in the Bush Hotel on Friday night last.

Leitrim – Congrats to the Leitrim team captained by Paddy Maguire who had a terrific win against Wexford in Round 1 of the Allianz League on Sunday last in Páirc Seán.  Good luck to the team as they head to Aughrim this weekend to take on Wicklow.

New Arrival – Many congratulations to our senior footballer Darren Sweeney and his wife Claudia on the safe arrival of their baby boy recently.

5K Walk – Our 5k walk in association with Get Ireland Walking and Operation Transformation continues this Thursday night  meeting at the Bee Park dressing rooms at 6.45pm.

Making a Splash – A million thanks to all our brave clubmen who took to a freezing Glenade lake on Saturday and Glencar lake on Sunday for Adrian’s fundraiser.  We cannot adequately express how grateful we are to the many people who have donated from near and far during the month of January in aid of our new pitch development. Special mention again goes to Adrian O’Flynn – we deeply appreciate your unbelievable effort and sacrifice for Glencar Manor.

Recipe for Success – Thank you to St. Clare’s Comprehensive School and in particular Ms. Conaty and Niall Brady from NB Nutrition and Exercise who facilitated our U’15 boys’ team on Friday evening for the “Recipe for Success” programme.  This was a really enjoyable evening where hopefully all the lads learned the importance of cooking and eating healthily.  Sincere thanks also to Niall Brady and Ronan Flynn our clubs, Healthy Club Officers for arranging the event.  Do be sure to check out Niall’s Facebook Page NB Nutrition & Exercise for loads of tips for healthy eating.

Club Awards Night – Our club awards night will take place on Saturday 16th February at 8pm in the Bee Park Community Centre. More details to follow.

Registration Night – We will be holding our two Registration Nights for all players and supporters to pay their membership for the 2019 season on Friday 8th and Friday 15th of February from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.

2019 Membership Rates – Membership rates for the 2019 season are as follows:  U10 Girls & Boys –  €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at this age group €20 each. U11 Boys – €30, U12 to U18 Girls – €40, U13 to U18 Boys -€40, Adult Players – €80 and Social Members – €30. A family membership rate of €120 max per family has been introduced for the coming season.  This applies to families who are registering their juvenile players who are under the age of 18 and the parents/guardians.

Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February 2019.

Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. Dinner Dance – Fenagh St Caillins Dinner Dance and presentation of 2018 Leitrim Intermediate Championship Winners Medals will take place on Friday 8th February 2019 in Lough Rynn Castle. Tickets will be available for purchase (or collection for those who have ordered them) in the Parochial House after mass on Saturday evening next 2nd Feb and Sun morning 3rd Feb. Leitrim GAA Awards Night – congratulations to Leitrim Intermediate Player of the Year Ryan O’Rourke, Leitrim Senior Handballer of the Year Jarlath Scollan and Leitrim Senior Referee of the Year Pat Guckian who picked up their awards for their achievements in 2018 on Friday night last.

Allianz National Football League – well done to the Leitrim team on their emphatic victory over Wexford on Sunday last. Everyone in the club and parish was immensely proud to see the performance of Ryan O’Rourke. Best of luck to the team and management for next weekend’s trip to take on Wicklow in Aughrim.

Comhghairdeas – Congratulations to Tom Prior Leitrim Minor Player of the year, Tom received his wonderful accolade at the Leitrim GAA awards night at the weekend in recognition of the wonderful year he has had at both club and county level, this is well-deserved recognition for a very talented young man and no doubt it will not be his last.

Leitrim GAA – Comhghairdeas to club men Dean McGovern, Shane Moran, Oisin McCaffrey, Darren Maxwell and all of the Leitrim players who put in an excellent performance on Sunday in the league gaining a well-deserved victory against Loch Garman

Comhghairdeas- Massive congratulations to Phillip Farrelly and partner Orla on the birth of their new baby boy Donnacha. We are sure this new arrival will be warmly welcomed by both family and friends alike and Donnacha certainly has no worries with such a safe pair of hands holding him for those night feeds. Comhbhrón – Everyone at the club would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Ivan Price who has sadly passed away. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of Ivan’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Operation Transformation  –  Achadh ná Síleann Lights up 2019  –  we are part of the Operation Transformation and GAA’s Ireland Lights Up Programme which runs until February 21st which is for 6 weeks – it takes place on Thursday evenings from 7 – 8 pm – you can walk, jog, run or just stroll.  Great to see a good crowd there on Thursday night last but would love to see many more there this Thursday and for the next few weeks.

Yellow River Drama Group  –  Our Drama Group are busy rehearsing for their upcoming production in March  –  they are currently running a fundraiser – a Valentines Draw lines are currently on sale and the draw will take place on Saturday February 9th in Super Valu in Ballinamore – lovely Hampers to be won.

Annaduff GAA Club Notes 30/01/2019

Bord na nÓg – Calling on all residents of Drumsna, Annaduff and Dromod. Our Underage boys’ registration for U17s down to nursery is due to take place next Saturday the 2nd of February and Sunday the 3rd from 12 mid-day to 1:30pm both days. All new/old members living in our parish are very welcome to come along meet some of our coaches have a chat about the plans for the coming season of football.  Our U17s and U13s are back training in preparation of the up-coming leagues best of luck to the management and players for the year ahead.

Leitrim Supporters Club – The annual Leitrim supporters tickets will be coming available over the next few days. Please note Annaduff GAA gets a quota that we must sell, so please only buy them off any member of our club executive.

New Baby – Congratulations to Noel & Tracy Ward, Dromod on the birth of their first child a Son named Dean born on the 21st January. A new grandson for John & Maura and I am sure his neighbour and cousin Oran will have a pair of football boots so we can get him togged out in Maroon & Gold before too long!!.

Annaduff Health & Wellbeing – Our new health and well-being officer Lisa Duignan has set up a new page on facebook please like and share as it will have all up-coming healthy eating and exercise/walking events over the year.

AGM – Our Annual General meeting was held in the clubhouse on Saturday night last and the following officers were elected President Pat McNamara, Chairman Liam Reynolds, Vice-chairman Seamus Maguire Secretary Martin McCartin, Assistant Secretary Alan canning Treasurer Gerry Keegan Assistant Treasurer John Reynolds, ASAP officer Seamus Maguire, Oifigeach Cultúra Damian Brennan, Registrar Seamus Maguire, Insurance officer Adrian Nichols, Development officer Sean McGovern, Coaching officer Declan Tiernan, IT officer Enda Tiernan, Health and Wellbeing officer Aisling Brennan. There were two changes to the executive with Declan Tiernan replacing Niall Brennan as Coaching officer and Aisling Brennan taking on the new position of Health and Wellbeing Officer.

Registration – There will be a registration night on Thursday, January 31st and Friday, February 1st in the Club House in the Park from 7 pm to 9 pm. All members asked to renew their Membership at this meeting and new members are welcome. Membership fees are as follows adult Player €50, Student Player € 30, Family membership € 40, Gym membership € 40, Social member €20.

Allianz Leagues –  Well done to the Leitrim who secured a great win against Wexford in Avantcard Páirc Seán MacDiarmada on Sunday last. It was a great start to the National League and the performance in the second half, in particular, was most encouraging. Well done to the team and management and a great start to Terry Hyland’s reign as manager. Next week it off to Wicklow for what could be a tricky encounter. Best of luck to all involved.

Cloone Lights UP – The Thursday light up is going very well with great numbers attending. It will continue for two more weeks.
