Bord na nÓg – Calling on all residents of Drumsna, Annaduff and Dromod. Our Underage registration for U17s down to nursery is due to take place on Saturday the 2nd of February and Sunday the 3rd from 12 mid-day to 1:30pm both days. All new/old members living in our parish are very welcome to come along meet some of our coaches have a chat about the plans for the coming season of football.
Our U17 started back training last week and U13s due to start this week in preparation of the up-coming leagues best of luck to the management and players for the year ahead.

Adult teams – Our Senior and Junior teams started their training on Saturday last best of luck to Karl Foley and his selectors along with all the lads, we wish them every success for 2019.

Sports Capital Funding – The Club is delighted with the announcement of grant aid of €40,000 towards ongoing developments at our Club grounds. Big thank you to our hard-working committee.

Carrick Hurling – 
Hard luck to the management and players of the Carrick Hurling team who lost out to Castleblaney Faughs on Sunday last by a single point. It’s Castleblaney who advance to the All-Ireland final.

Sympathy – Annaduff GAA wishes to pass on our sympathy to the Guckian family Derrywillow following the sudden death Padraig Guckian on January 16th 2019 at U.C.H.G. to his wife Imelda and sons Frank, John, daughters Marie Clarke and Annette Cosgrave and extended family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Great Night for the Girls – On Monday night the girls had a superb training session and Q&A after with Martha Carter. This was very inspiring for our girls and parents. Many thanks to Martha for joining us. Martha is a current player of the highly successful Co. Mayo club team Carnacon and a former Mayo player

Community Walking Continues – Melvin Gaels Healthy Club Committee is joining up with Operation Transformation, the GAA and the Community, for Ireland Lights Up 2019.  The walk was interrupted last week because of a major Power cut, nevertheless, a good few turned up and took part. The walk continues every Thursday night until February 21st. The track will be lit up from 7pm to 8pm and everyone of all ages is asked to come along and join in this free weekly event.

50/50 Draw – The winner of the 50/50 draw last week was Ryse Brennan, Cloone, Kinlough who won €290. Get your ticket now for this week’s draw.

New Development Project – Many people from the locality and further afield have supported the Community    Development Project at the Community Centre, Melvin Park and Dressing rooms, which is well underway. Any Kinlough people travelling home at Christmas will see that Melvin Park has changed a lot. The Committee is appealing to anyone who has yet to support the development to try to help, by joining the draw or sponsoring in any way.  A lot of money is needed to complete the project which will be very impressive when completed and will be a huge benefit to all the Community. The fundraising involves “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. Condolences – The club sympathises sincerely with the Wynne family on the death of Mary Philomena Wynne (Mena), Cornamuckla North, Ballinaglera. May she rest in peace.

Hurling – Commiserations to Carrick Hurlers who were defeated by one point last Sunday in the All Ireland Junior clubsemi-finall. Well done on getting that far and putting on a fine display.

LEITRIM GAA AWARDS – Congratulations to Clement Cunniffe and Cian Singleton who have been awarded Senior Club Hurler of the Year and U16 County Player of the Year respectively.

CARRICK HURLING – Commiserations to Carrick hurlers on a heartbreaking defeat in the All Ireland Junior Hurling Club semi-final against Castleblaney in Mullingar, losing by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 1.08 to 0.10 in a fantastic game that really could have gone either way. To the players, managers and supporters, everyone can be so proud as there has been a great buzz and fantastic colour around the area for the last few weeks creating history along the way as the first Leitrim men’s team to win a Connacht club title. Wishing Castleblaney Hurling and especially Carrick’s Niall Glancy the very best of good luck in the All Ireland Final.

SCÓR SINSEAR 2019 – Leitrim Senior Scór will take place on February 9th. As it is the 50th year of Scór, we hope to put a great effort into entering as many categories as possible. Congratulations Karl – Congratulations to our own Karl McDermott who has been awarded the Leitrim Senior County Hurler of the Year for 2018. He had some super performances for Leitrim in 2018 and this award is due recognition to this and is richly deserved.  It is a great honour for Karl, his family and our club and we look forward to more stand out performances from him in the coming season for club and county. Karl will be presented with his award this Friday night at the Leitrim GAA Awards in the Bush Hotel.

New Arrival – We offer the heartiest of congratulations to our senior footballers Amanda and James Glancy on the safe arrival of their baby boy Finn recently.

5K Walk – We had a great turnout for our 5k walk last Thursday night in association with Get Ireland Walking and Operation Transformation. It continues this Thursday night for a further 5 weeks.  We look forward to welcoming more participants with registration at 7pm in the Dressing Rooms in the Bee Park.

Fair Play Ado – Former Leitrim and Glencar Manor Senior footballer Adrian O’Flynn is doing mighty with his daily swims in the rivers/lakes/sea in January to raise much-needed funds for our new pitch development.  Check out our Facebook Page for videos and to see how you can support.  We again commend Adrian for coming up with this initiative, for braving the cold waters on our behalf and to everyone who is joining him or supporting him and our club by making very generous donations.

Club Awards Night – Our club awards night will take place on Saturday 16th February at 8pm in the Bee Park Community Centre. More details to follow.

Registration Night – We will be holding our two Registration Nights for all players and supporters to pay their membership for the 2019 season on Friday 8th and Friday 15th of February from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.

2019 Membership Rates – Membership rates for the 2019 season are as follows:  U10 Girls & Boys –  €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at this age group €20 each. U11 Boys – €30, U12 to U18 Girls – €40, U13 to U18 Boys -€40, Adult Players – €80 and Social Members – €30. A family membership rate of €120 max per family has been introduced for the coming season.  This applies to families who are registering their juvenile players who are under the age of 18 and the parents/guardians.

Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February, 2019.

Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. Dinner Dance – Fenagh St Caillins Dinner Dance and presentation of 2018 Leitrim Intermediate Championship Winners Medals will take place on Friday 8th February 2019 in Lough Rynn Castle. This is our first Dinner Dance in 15 years and promises to be a great night. Leitrim GAA Awards Night – on Friday night next Fenagh St Caillins will be well represented with Ryan O’Rourke receiving the Intermediate Player of the Year Award, Pat Guckian will be presented with the Senior Referee Award and Jarlath Scollan picking up Leitrim Handballer of the Year. Achadh ná Síleann Lights up 2019  –  we are part of the Operation Transformation and GAA’s Ireland Lights Up Programme which runs until February 21st which is for 6 weeks – it takes place on Thursday evenings from 7 – 8 pm – you can walk, jog , run or just stroll.  Great to see a good crowd there on Thursday night last but would love to see many more there this Thursday and for the next few weeks.

Reconstruction of Drumkeerin GAA Club terraces – Expressions of interests are being sought for the tender of the reconstruction of the terraces at Naomh Bríd GAA grounds in Drumkeerin. All tender documentation is available at Francis Davitt Planning, Main Street, Drumkeerin. Close of applications will be at 4pm sharp on Friday the 25th of January 2019.

Registration – After mass on Sunday the 27th in the ball alley. The fees are €60 for family, €40 adult and €30 student.

Under 9 Academy –  We need people this year to support the running and coaching of the children. Message PJ Ryan if you can give one hour a week, there are football skills training courses provided by the club. American Tea Party – The Village Spot Festival are holding an American Tea Party as a fundraiser on Saturday the 26th of January 2019 at 8pm in Leitrim Gaels Community Field Clubhouse. Music on the night will be by the great Mickey Clerkin. There will be great prizes available on the night. This will be one of a few fundraisers for the revival of The Village Spot Festival which is planned for August Bank a Holiday weekend. There are a limited number of tables available. Club AGM – The club AGM will be held on Saturday, January 26 in the clubhouse at 9 pm and all members are asked to attend. This is the most important meeting of the year so we urge members and supporters to attend.

The Leitrim Wall –  The Leitrim Wall Committee is recruiting people to put their name on the Leitrim wall. It is envisaged that the wall will be completed in June and to have your name on the wall you should get your name registered now, Committee members will be contacting people to see if they are interested. Cloone people can contact Committee members Enda Tiernan or Gerry McGovern. This is proving to be a most popular fundraising venture with a serious interest being shown by Leitrim people near and far.

Congratulations – Congratulation to Aoife and Damian O Donnell on the birth of their baby son recently, another full forward in the making.

Shane Quinn – Congratulations to Shane Quinn who has been chosen as County player of the year and will be presented with it on Friday next at the County Board Award Ceremony in The Bush Hotel. Tickets for the occasion are available from Club or County Board Officers.

Registration Night – Registration takes place next Thursday evening Jan 24 between 8 and 9pm in the Clubrooms. All players in every age group must be registered before taking part in training or a game in accordance with the new GDPR regulations or they will not be covered by insurance. All members must sign the new membership form for adults and children. The rates are Adult Player €50. Student Player €40. Under 17 €30. Under 6 €25. Family Discount €5 reduction on each family member up to Under 21 non-playing member /social members.

Supporters – We would encourage all our supporters to be social members of the club. €30 would see you registered, included in the draw for All Ireland tickets and full use of the running track.

Ireland Lights up – There was a great turn out last Thursday night in the Park for the Lights up and walk. Lucia Tyrell was the coordinator and all are welcome again next week and every Thursday at 7pm for the next 5 weeks.

Recent Bereavements – We extend our deepest sympathy to Lucia Tyrell, Claire Quinn and their families on the death of their aunt, Mary O Kane in Derry. We also extend condolences to the Dugdale family on the death of another great lady Muriel Gilchrist. May they both rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh said.
