Scór na nÓg quiz – Congratulations to our Scor na nÓg quiz team who won the County title on Sunday, the team made up of Eoin Connaughton, Eoin Hamill, Bernard Sweeney and Brian Sweeney put in a fantastic performance to take the title, well Done also to our second quiz team who were strong opposition and performed well on the day, this team was made up of some excellent talent as well with Michael McBrien, Kian McGovern, Niamh Christe and Dearbhla O Connell in action. A special thanks and Well done to Brid and Sean Sullivan for supporting and mentoring our teams in the lead up to the competition. U16 Ladies Championship Final – Unfortunately Sunday’s final against Glencar Manorhamilton had to be postponed – the pitch being deemed unplayable due to heavy rain in the hours leading up to the game. A refixed date, time and venue will be posted on facebook as soon as it is known. Thank you to all of the supporters who had come out in force to cheer on the girls.
Under Age Meeting – A meeting to discuss the set up of our new underage committee and structure will be held on Wednesday 5th of December at 20:00 in the club rooms. Open to all, please share with anyone interested in helping out with our underage players whether in a coaching or administrative role, please note this request is for support for all ages from nursery up to u17 .

Hurling – We have indoor hurling on Monday evenings in The Sports Hall. Due to the large numbers of children participating, we need help with supervision and coaching. If you can help in any way please contact Paddy @0879528944
Indoor Hurling is on every Monday evening in the Sports Complex, at 19:00 cost is 2 euro to cover the cost of the hall and all gear is provided
U14/15 hurling training is also taking place on Saturdays on the back pitch at 11am, all gear provided, and everyone is welcome

1918 Leitrim Senior Champions Commemoration – On Sunday December 30th we are holding an event in the Community Centre to acknowledge the Aughnasheelin Team that won the Senior Football Championship. Events will kick off at 6pm, a full itinerary of events will be published closer to the event. Detail from the time is proving hard to come by so if anyone has any information from the time or would like to assist in preparation please get in contact with Barry McWeeney 086-3610690. Club Player of the year Awards will also be given out on the evening and we hope that it will be a great event to finish off 2018 and welcome a new year for Aughnasheelin.

Drama – Following a very successful meeting on Friday November 23rd we are delighted to announce the formation of the Yellow River Drama Group. A Committee has been formed and we are holding a social evening in the Community Centre on Monday December 10th at 8pm to reveal plans for our production in spring 2019. Under 20 Final – Hard luck to St Manchan’s who were beaten 2-11 to 2-8 in the Under 20 Final on Sunday morning last. Although the game was close all through Melvin Gaels were deserving winners and we congratulate them. A big thank you to Sean Kennedy and Shane Canning who took over the management of the senior and Under 20 teams at very short notice and brought both teams to County Finals. Sadly, Sean will not be available to continue as manager in 2019 due to work commitments. We sincerely thank Sean for his total dedication to training for the few short weeks he had available.
Beirne Family – Congratulations to Michael, Keith, Dearbhaile and Jonathan Beirne who brought great pride to Mohill last year winning Ireland’s Fittest Family. On Friday evening at the Leitrim Sports Partnership Awards in Rynn Castle they were deservedly acknowledged for their great achievement.
RIP Anna Reynolds – We extend our deepest sympathy to the Reynolds family Eslin on the death of Anna on Sunday last. Her sons and her grandchildren played underage for Mohill and all the Reynolds family have always supported the Mohill Club May her gentle soul rest in peace
Recent Deaths – We also extend deepest sympathy to the families of Patricia Grace O Malley Bradshaw, Michael Gilmartin, and Tony Reilly all great Mohill people who passed away this week. They have all played our Lotto and supported every fundraising we had over the years. May they all rest in peace.

Bórd na nÓg awards – Damian Comer gave out medals to our victorious underage teams on Sunday evening in Rynn Castle Hotel. We congratulate all the recipients and the coaches who looked after the boys and girls all year.

Membership 2019 – Club Membership for 2019 is now open – Adult Playing Membership (which includes Gym access) is €100 (€40 for Students), Non playing members – €20, and non-playing membership (with gym access fee) – €100. Youth playing membership is €20 per player to a limit of €50 per family. Membership can be paid to Registrar Jason Conroy or Treasurer Brian Mallon.
U16 Girls Championship Final – The girls play the Cup Final against Ballinamore Seán O’Heslins this Sunday at 2pm in Leitrim Village in what promises to be an exciting affair. We wish Tommy, Martin, Dolores, Christina and all the girls the very best of luck. Please show your support to them on the day.
Leitrim Sports Partnership – We congratulate all nominees and award winners whose sporting achievements were celebrated at the Leitrim Sports Partnership Awards Ceremony in the Landmark Hotel on Saturday night. Well done in particular to St Clare’s Comprehensive School girls football team who were awarded the Juvenile Team of the Year Award and to Dearbhla Rooney who claimed the Sports Individual Junior award and to top off an outstanding year she was also the deserving winner of the overall award on the night.
New Arrival – any congrats to our senior player Thomas Coyle and his girlfriend Máire Kelly on the safe arrival of their baby boy John.
Club Academy/U9s/U11s – Our Club Football Academy, U9 and U11 training will take place this Friday night at St Clare’s Comprehensive School. Times will be notified to parents.
Match for Mark – The annual Match for Mark game between St Mary’s of Sligo and Glencar/Manorhamilton returns again this year on St Stephen’s Day. Keep the date free, dust down the boots and see you in Kent Park for what has always been a great social occasion and opportunity to support a local charity in memory of St Mary’s and Glencar Manor’s former player Mark Rooney. Details are being finalised and full fixture details will be issued shortly.
Sympathy – We offer heartfelt sympathy to Annette Johnson (Lurganboy) and Maeve Conlon (Glencar) and their families following the sad passing of their sister in law Patricia Burke, Ballisodare. May she rest in peace.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. We are also trying to compile the names of all club officers/managers/club award winners since the club was formed – so if you were an officer/manager/award winner – please forward any information you can. Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s. LOTTO – There was no winner of the Lotto last Saturday night. The numbers drawn were 1-0-3-2-7-4-5-6. €30 winners on the night were Brendan Kiernan, Lorraine Cox, Michael, Willie & Caroline, Gavin Farrelly and Gerry Gallogly. The House Prize sponsored by the Dugout was won by Dan & Mary O’Brien. The next draw will be run by the Player’s Team which will be held in “The Dugout” on Saturday 8th December. Jackpot is €12,300. Under 20 Champions – A great day for the Under 20 team on Sunday when they defeated St Manchan’s to win the first Under 20 A Final. This was a hard fought but deserved win. Although the game was close and the lead changed a number of times the Gaels never gave up and finished strongly. This is a fantastic way to finish 2018 and these young lads have done the Club proud. Congratulations to Darragh Rooney who won the Mat of the Match award. Well done to all the mentors, Gareth, Liam, Joe and Peter. Great work by everyone involved. Thanks to all who came along and gave support and all who gave the team such a great welcome home.
Club AGM – There was a good attendance at the AGM on Sunday evening, and after winning the Under 20 Championship earlier in the day, the atmosphere was good. The election of officers resulted in a number of new people appointed to different positions in the Club. The new Chairman is Liam Freeburn with Pat Gallagher as Vice Chairman. Mark Cleary is remaining as Club Secretary and Mary Mc Sharry as Club Registrar and assistant. Tina Whelan is taking up the position of Club Treasurer. Katherine Williams has stepped down as Treasurer, but will do assistant Treasurer for this year. Maria Foley was appointed PRO for the Club. Martin Mc Carron is remaining as Children’s Officer. The outgoing officers were thanked for all the hard work they put in during the year gave a detailed account of all activities during the year.

Get Your Mark on Melvin Park – It is very important that all Club Members help with the fundraising needed to complete the work on Melvin Park. Anyone who has not yet contributed is asked to do so as soon as possible. Contact any member of the Development Committee to purchase your ”Mark” and ensure that the Club will have the facilities everyone can be proud of. The support has been very good so far. The fundraising will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. Lights On – The lights will be on at the Training Pitch every evening from 4pm to 9pm as a Health Initiative so that the Community can make use of them on the dark evenings.
U-16 Ladies – The girls finished off the year with a fine win in the Shield Final against Keeldra Gaels in Leitrim Village on Sunday afternoon on a scoreline of 6-09 to 1-07. We done to the whole panel and to trainers Ciara McTigue, Sinead Dolan & Dermot McDonagh. A big thank you to Stephen McWeeney who organised food for everyone afterwards in the clubhouse.
AGM – The AGM took place in the clubhouse on Sunday evening last with a good crowd in attendance. Chairman Patrick McManus presided over the meeting and gave an overview of the year in his address. He complimented the successful teams along with their managers in particular the senior men who won the Division 2 title and St. Francis ladies who won the intermediate championship and thanked everyone who helped out all year especially coaches and parents & those who helped out with raising finance and supporting the lotto & other sources of income. Secretary, Sinead Dolan, gave a comprehensive report of the club’s activities in 2018 and thanked all those who contributed to the efficient running of the club. John McKeon, presented a very comprehensive & detailed financial report. He thanked all who helped fundraise during the year, especially our sponsors. Tributes were paid from the floor to the 3 main officers for their work on behalf of the club in the last year. Chairman of Park Development, Fergal McPartland, reported on activities in park during the year and thanked a large number of people who assisted during the season. He thanked Eamonn McGowan in particular for his dedication to the park. He also thanked John Joe Cullen & Sean Deeley for their great work. He expressed the club’s appreciation to the organising committee of the Tony McGowan Run who are sponsoring the installation of a new electronic scoreboard at the park which will be a great addition. The election of officers then took place. After it was confirmed that Sean Pierson and his management team had stepped down, a committee was formed to seek a new manager. Tributes were paid to Sean, Paddy & Angus who put in a huge amount of work and oversaw a successful year returning silverware for the first time in a number of years. All underage managers will be confirmed at the Coiste na nOg AGM. We wish all officers and team officials every success in the year ahead.
Underage Presentation & Awards – The Kevin Keane Annual Player of the Year Awards & medals to last year’s winning teams were presented in the Mayflower last Saturday. Medals were presented to the U-12 boys, U-13 boys and U-14 girls so well done to all the winning teams. The award winners were: U12 Girls Player of the year: Andrea Gilmartin & Most Improved Player: Erin McCawley; U-12 Boys Player of the Year: James Rock; U13 Boys Player of the year: Fionn Gilrane & Most Improved Player: James O’Connor; U14 Girls Player of the year: Roslyn Kane & Most Improved Player: Rachel McCormack; U15 Boys Player of the Year: Radek Oberwan & Most Improved Player: Rory O’Donnell; U16 Girls Player of the year: Jaclyna Ozdobinska & Most Improved: Rachel McGarry; U17 Boys Player of the Year: Colin Moran & Most Improved: Enda Keegan; U-18 Ladies Player: Niamh Morahan and Most Improved: Lauryn McKeon. We would especially like to thank Pauric Keane, Ailish Cornyn, Diarmuid McKiernan and James Flynn for doing the presentations. A big thank you also to the Keane Family and to everyone who helped out on Saturday, in particular the Coiste na nOg committee under chairman Stephen McWeeney and secretary Angus Fee and to all our underage coaches who give their time throughout the year. Also to the parents of the children who help out with transport among other things all year. Finally we would like to thank all the local businesses who have supported our underage teams with sponsorship during the year. St. Francis Ladies – The ladies will receive their intermediate championship medals in the Landmark this Saturday December 1st with a great night guaranteed.

Sympathy – The Club extends deepest condolences to the Dolan Family on the very sad passing of Mary Dolan who was laid to rest in Arigna last week; also to the Mulvey Family on the sad passing of Phyllis’ brother, Brian Duignan, who was laid to rest in Hillstreet and to the Orawiec Family on the death of Kazimiera Orawiec in Poland recently.
