SWAN BAR DIV 4 – The swan bar Div 4 league continued on Friday night last when we had a good win against neighbours, played in a very sporting manner in the Park. The final score was Cloone 0 09 Aughavas 1 04. Great to see a number of former club players featuring, and indeed some of our star former intercounty players lining out on both sides.

CLUB CONNECTIONS – Looking through the line outs for the intercounty Allianz National League fixtures we note a number of inter-county players with their roots in our Club. Niall Donnelly who’s mother Concepta is a through and through Annaughmacooleen Gael supporter, plays midfield for Down, Cian Donoghue, whose mother Karen is from Esker plays with Offaly, and Kevin Flynn, whose mother Jacinta, a Cloone native through and through plays wing half back with Kildare. The rumour is, and I wouldn’t say it too loud, is that all three will be lining out for Cloone at some stage in the 2018 Intermediate Championship. Keep that to yourself.

BATTLE OF THE TOWNLANDS – The battle of the townlands is now gaining serious momentum as we prepare for the Battle Royal on Saturday next in Creegan’s Bar for the battle of the Parish quiz, the Battle of the townlands. It has been noted that some well-known personalities took their townland away for a weekend away, down to Tullamore for a bonding session in preparation for the quiz. This competition has now taken on a life of its own and no doubt the place will be packed for this eagerly awaited competition. It’s important that Patrons come early, as the place will be packed from early on. First Question 9 P.M. There will be some excitement at the final round.

SWAN BAR DIV 4 LEAGUE – On Saturday next we play St Mary’s in the 3rd round of the Swan Bar div 4 league in Carrick at 5pm. All players are asked to be available.
