Medal Presentations – Thanks to everyone that attended our medal presentations in Priors @ High St. on Sunday. It was wonderful to see so many in attendance to cheer on the Oughteragh ladies and the Junior A lads as they were presented with their medals. Juniors – Well done again to the Division 4 lads who continued their fine form in the league, this time they were up against Leitrim Gaels away, and won by a score of 3:13to 2:07, next up for the lads is a match against Mohill on Saturday at 17:00 in Ballinamore

Leitrim Hurling – After the Leitrim hurlers excellent performance against Cavan they now take on Lancashire in the Final this Sunday. It’s not often we reach a league final and this is a great opportunity to cheer the County on and see some great hurling, hopefully as many of you as possible can make your way to Ballyconnell to cheer the lads on at 12:00

Senior Scór – Comhghairdeas to Aughnasheelin who were crowned Connacht Ballad Group Champions securing a place the upcoming All Ireland Final on April 14th in Sligo

U17 League – The u17 lads will be in action this Saturday at 12:00 against Fenagh St Caillins in Fenagh

LGFA Div 2 league 2018 – Oughteragh Gaels 4-6 St Francis’ 4-7 Hard luck to our ladies team who narrowly missed out on a win against our regular rivals St. Francis in what was freezing conditions this morning. Both teams battled it out until the end, with high intensity throughout, but it was St. Francis who came away with the win. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the girls this morning! Registration Day – Our 2018 Club Registration Day takes place this Saturday (24thMarch) between 10.30am and 12.30pm for all underage, for those who wish to be involved in the Football for Mothers and others and for anyone interested in finding out more or getting involved with club. All boys and girls from the age of 3 up are welcome and age-appropriate football training and games will begin on Saturday mornings from 10.30am in the coming weeks. Other underage activities this year will include skill development programmes, a trip to Croke Park, our annual Sports Day, indoor football and of course our Cúl Camp which this year will run from the 13th to the 17th of August. We also intend to run midweek training sessions in July and August for our U9’s and U11’s,  There will be a free Bornacoola Bobble Hat (worth €15) for every child who registers on Saturday; cost for the year is €20 per child to a maximum of €50 per family. Any adults that wish to purchase Bornacoola GAA Bobble hats (just €15 each) should also come along on Saturday.
 
Swan Bar Division 4 – Our Junior team maintained their 100% start to the season when they defeated Dromahaire by 1-12 to 0-6 on Sunday last in Dromod. This Saturday the boys travel to Aughavas to take on the home side – throw in is at 5pm.
 
Texas Hold ‘em – Last Poker night until the Autumn will take place this Saturday night, 24th of March in our clubhouse at 8.45 sharp. Pay out will be 50/50 and refreshments will again be served at half time. Thanks to everyone who has supported our poker night’s to date and we hope to see you all there Saturday.  Registration from 8.30pm and it is only €20 to play
 
Minors – Rinn Gaels played Drumkeerin in Gortletteragh on Saturday morning last; however it was the visitors who enjoyed the experience most as they took the two points on a 7-6 to 1-6 scoreline. This Saturday, the boys host Dromahaire in Dromod at 12noon.   
 
Scór – Unfortunately there was no joy either for our own Aidan Dockery (Recitation) or any of the other Leitrim competitors in the Connacht Finals of Scór held in Lecarrow on Monday last. However, Bornacoola will represent the County in Tráth na gCeist at the All Ireland Finals in Belfast in mid-April.
 
U2 Ticket Competition – The Club are currently running a draw for two tickets to see U2 in the 3Arena in Dublin on November 6th next. Tickets for the draw are just €10 each and you can enter on our website www.bornacoola.gaa.ie/home/u2-ticket-fundraiser or via the link on our Facebook page
U13 League – Our U13 players are again joining with Gortletteragh this year and on Monday played their second league game against Annaduff having won in their first outing a few weeks ago. Despite a strong first half showing, a more coherent Annaduff side prevailed on the day.The team was David Doyle, Tommy Reen, Luke Mc Manus, Adam Reen, Riaghan Ward, Jonathan Boyle, Noah Mc Nulty, Matthew Davis, Oisin Maguire, Nathan Ryan, Jack Gannon, Jack Reynolds, Senan Woods and Ryan Fanning.
Underage – No games last week. Our U17 game v Fenagh was postponed while our U13 game v Melvin Gaels was conceded by the visitors. U17’s are away to St. Mary’s next Saturday at 12 noon, while are U13’s are also away to St. Mary’s on Sunday at 12 noon.

U11’s – St. Joseph’s U11’s will be playing against Allen Gaels during the half time exhibition game in Pairc Sean at the league match between Leitrim & Wicklow next Sunday. Best of luck lads.

Junior Men – Well done to our Junior men’s team whose second outing of the year resulted in a 9 point win over Glencar-Manor. They play Glenfarne this weekend in Drumkeerin, all local support would be great for the game which is currently set for 5pm Saturday.
U17 boys – Well done to the lads on a win away against Rinn Gaels last weekend. They won 7-07 to 1-06. That’s three wins from three in the league and next up they’re home to Glencar-Manor at 12pm in Drumkeerin on Saturday. Best of luck to them.
U13 boys – Well done to the lads on a win, last Monday, against Kiltubrid. They won 5-06 to 2-08. That’s three wins from three in the league also and next up they’re away to Gortletteragh, at 12pm in Gortletteragh on Sunday. Best of luck to them.
U14 girls – Well done to the U14 girls on their win last Thursday away to Ballinamore, final score 7:09 to 5:06. Their next fixture is this Saturday at 10am v Mohill, in Drumkeeran. Best of luck to all involved.

Senior Ladies – The Senior team commenced their League campaign away to Dromahair in St Osnat’s last Sunday morning and after a rip-roaring contest they emerged two point winners. Well done to the team and management.

Ball Run – The Feile boys team and management would like to thank everyone who sold and bought lines for their Ball Run which was held last Sunday. Results – Well done to our U13s who defeated Dromahair by one point on Monday and hard luck to our U17s who lost by the minimum away to Annaduff on St Patrick’s Day. Our Division 3 team made the short journey to Drumkeerin on Sunday but unfortunately found the home side in winning form. Well done to our Senior Hurlers who defeated Calry in the Dermot Molloy Hurling League on Saturday in St Osnat’s.

St Clare’s Junior Girls – Well done to the St Clare’s Comprehensive School Junior Girls team who are through to the All Ireland Junior Final following their semi-final defeat of St Dominic’s of Belfast on Friday last on a score line of 6-6 to 3-8 in Clones. We congratulate the team, our player representatives and their mentors on this wonderful achievement.

St Patricks Day Parade – Many thanks to our Academy players who represented the club so well at the Manorhamilton St Patrick’s Day Parade. They were full of voice and colour. Special thanks to the parents and coaches who accompanied them along the route.

Club Academy and Tournament – Our Club Academy for U7s continues on Friday nights in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School from 6-7pm. €2 each or €5 max per family. New players are joining every week so feel free to bring your children along to join in the fun and games.

Club Academy Tournament Final – Our Club Academy Tournament Finals for 7-10 year olds took place last Friday night at St Clare’s National School. It was a terrific night from start to finish as we witnessed our stars of the future display their skills and endeavour. Congratulations to all the players who received medals and to those who were presented with the following Cups: The Sarah Gilbride Jones Memorial Cup, The Devaney Memorial Cup and the Academy Cup. Special thanks to John Conlon for allowing us to use the wonderful facilities at St Clare’s NS and all the parents for supplying the goodies for the post-match reception and presentations.

Junior Team – Congrats to the Junior team on their second great win of the division 4 league away to Mohill last weekend. They play this Saturday evening at 5pm in Leitrim Gaels. Your support for the team would be greatly appreciated.

Ladies – Congrats to St. Francis ladies on their one-point victory over Oughteragh Gaels last Sunday morning after a very entertaining game in very cold conditions. They warmed up well afterwards though!! Next game is against Mohill on 8th April.

Table Quiz – The ladies team are organising a table quiz in Lough Allen Hotel this Friday evening at 8pm. 40euro per table. There will be a raffle and door prize on the night. Please support.

RESULTS –  Well done to both our U13 teams who beat Dromahair in the Barna Recycling Under 13 League. We got well beaten by Ballinamore SOH in the Swan Bar ACL Division 4 League. Unfortunately, the John McCartin Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League Division 1 game between St. Mary’s and Leitrim Gaels was called off.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE – Carrick’s St Patrick’s Day parade will start at 12.45pm. We will meet in Shannon Lodge at 12.30pm sharp. We hope as many children as possible can wear their club colours and join us to march through the town in the parade and we will return to Shannon Lodge at the end. The lads put in a very impressive display with a mix of experience and youth taking to the field and they quickly took control of the game scoring an impressive 5:17 to 1:05. LGFA Div 2 league 2018 – Oughteragh Gaels 10-17 – Drumkeeran 1-1

Well done to our Ladies team who kicked off the year in fine style with a big win over Drumkeeran. We started off the game with some excellent movement and scores, leading 6-10 to 1-0 at halftime. The opposition came out fighting in the 2nd half but we held our own to secure our first win in the league this year. Emma McGovern made her debut in goals with some excellent saves, along with a solid performance from the denfence. Siobhan Earley kept her score tally high with multiple goals, while Tara Fitzpatrick made some excellent movement in the forward line along with the three O’Dowds. Comhghairdeas – A big well done to the Ballinamore Hurling boys that played at halftime of the Leitrim/Cavan national league hurling game at the weekend, it was great to see the young lad from Ballinamore and the surrounding areas showing their skills, hopefully in years to come they might be there representing the County. A big well done to the Leitrim Hurlers who put in a fine performance in their victory over Cavan.

Lights On Weekly Walk Group – Melvin Gaels and Kinlough Community with the GAA, in partnership with RTÉ’s Operation Transformation, completed the six nights walk on Monday night with another great turn out. It has been decided to continue with the walks each Monday night for all who wish to take part. So come along and join in at 7pm each Monday night.

Results from weekend games – Both our u17 and Div 3 teams had good wins on Saturday last. The u17’s defeated Mohill 4-11 to 0-04 and our Div 3 team got their league campaign off to a winning start beating Annaduff 3-09 to 0-09. Well done to Kyle McNabola, Conor Dwyer, Aaron Smith, Oisin McLoughlin and Owen McLoughlin who made their adult debuts in this game and acquitted themselves very well. It was also great to see Shane Dwyer back on the field of play again. The u13 game scheduled for Sunday morning was postponed.

Fixtures for St Patrick’s Weekend – u17 game v St Joseph’s on St Patrick’s Day at 11am in either Aughavas or Carrigallen, Div 3 game v St Mary’s in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Sunday at 12pm and the u13’s are scheduled to host Glenfarne on Bank Holiday Monday at 12pm.
Handball – Hard luck to Jarlath Scollan who lost out in his All Ireland Junior handball semi-final at the weekend.
Medal Presentation – The presentation of 2017 winners medals to our victorious u13 and u17 teams is rescheduled for Bank Holiday Monday next at 4pm. All-Star & multiple All Ireland winning Dublin player Ciarán Kilkenny will be the special guest.
Lotto – our next Lotto draw will be held on Sunday night next in Quinns Bar. The jackpot currently stands at €2300. Thank you for your continuing support. Annual tickets for our lotto are being renewed at the moment and we are very grateful to everyone who purchases one. The are also available to buy online via Klubfunder.com.
