LOTTO – There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot on Saturday night last in Terry Shortt’s “Heritage Bar”.  The numbers drawn were 4-0-2-3-7-6-1-5.  €30 winners were Christina Conefrey, Pat Charles, Kevin Keegan, George O’Brien, and Sean Quinn Aughawillan. The house prize sponsored by Terry & Agnes Shortt was won by Colette Flanagan.  Thanks to Terry & Agnes for their hospitality and their sponsorship on the night. Swan Bar Division 4 – The Division 4 team start their league campaign on Saturday away to Dromahaire at 4:30 pm. We wish the team and management every success.

Barna Recycling Under 13 league – The under 13 team continue their league on Sunday away to Sean O Heslins in Ballinamore at 2pm.

Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League – Our under 17 team play St Mary’s in Carrick on Saturday next at 2pm.

Un7,9 and 11s – Training continues Friday evening for all girls and boys in the area. Training will be indoors for the first few weeks in the hall at Leitrim Gaels community field facilities. Under 7 Boys and Girls from 6-7pm. Under 9 and 11 boys and girls 7-8pm. This will carry on until we go outside in late March. Registration is due and will be collected on Friday night.

Membership – Membership for 2018 is now due. All players from underage to senior must pay membership for insurance reasons while training and playing for the club. The membership funds go towards for players the €2,700 Player Injury Fund that we have to contribute to each year to cover potential insurance claims and for non-playing members toward the €1,800 we pay for public liability and property insurance to the GAA. There will be committee members at the Clubhouse from 18:30-20:30 Friday and at the games on Saturday and Sunday for membership registration. We look forward to seeing you there.

Leitrim Supporters Club Draw – The Leitrim GAA supporter’s tickets are now available from any club officer. If at all possible can you buy your ticket from a Leitrim Gaels club member as each club has their own allocation of tickets which they must sell, rather than outside the Club. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the cost of preparing the Leitrim Senior team throughout the year. As usual, there is a wide range of decent prizes for all members entered in the draw. You also get a car Sticker showing your support for Leitrim. Tickets are priced at €50.They can also be purchased in Mc Cormack’s Filling station.

Weekend fixtures – All adult & underage games were postponed due to the snow and ice.

New Referees – It is up-most importance that we get at least one new referee from our club as the pool of referees are quite small andit’ss only a matter of time before games will have to be postponed due to lack of availability of a referee so new recruits urgently needed. Training to begin this Friday 9th of March at 8pm in the bush Hotel.

Mothers and Others:  Gaelic Football training resumes on Wednesday 14th of March in The Mayflower at 8pm. Anyone with an interest in learning new skills or those who may have played previously are welcome to join. It’s a great opportunity to get fit, have fun and make new friends! All are welcome.

Operation Transformation – There will be an additional 3-week block starting on Tuesday 6th March in St Clare’s gym, Manorhamilton with Boot Camp taking place on Saturdays in The Park at 9am. Unfortunately, the 5K run/walk which was due to take place on Sunday had to be cancelled because of the weather and this will now take place at the end of the extra block. New members are welcome to join for these additional sessions.
Bag Packing – Bag packing will take place on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th March in Tesco Sligo. If anyone can spare an hour or two to help out please get in contact with a club officer with a day/time that suits.
Get well soon – Everyone at the club would like to wish Jim Meehan a full and speedy recovery as he begins treatment in Galway. Jim has been a hugely active club member for many years and we look forward to seeing him back in action again soon.
Club Trip – As feared our U9/U11 club trip to Croke Park last Saturday fell victim to the bad weather. We hope to organise a new date in the future.

Registration Day – Our 2018 Club Registration Day will take place on Saturday 24th March for all underage, for Mothers and others and for anyone interested in finding out more or getting involved with the club. We’ll have further details in the coming weeks.

Minors – No game last weekend due to the weather, but Rinn Gaels travel to Manorhamilton on Saturday morning next for a 12noon throw in against the hosts. Best of luck to all involved.

Training – Training for adult men is going well under new management led by Frank Browne. Tues, Friday, and Sunday are the dates and there may be a challenge this weekend. The ladies are also busy preparing for forthcoming fixtures and are lucky to have the services of Gary and Shane Canning at the helm this year.

SYMPATHY – Cloone GAA would like to extend its sympathy to the Donohue Family Esker Cloone, on the death of Mary Donoghue who’s funeral took place on Saturday last. To her daughters Celine, Karen, Anita, son Aidan and her extended family we extend our sincere sympathy.

THE BATTLE OF THE PARISH – The quiz featuring the battle of the townlands of the parish will now take place on SATURDAY NIGHT MARCH 24TH. This battle is generating huge interest with all townlands preparing diligently and according to accounts, the training is going very well. It promises to be a huge night’s entertainment and a night not to be missed.

FIXTURES – The beast from the East put an end to all fixtures at the weekend, and with no details of rescheduled fixtures we can presume that there will be games next weekend.

SCÓR – The Leitrim finals of Scór Sinsir were postponed at theweekendd because of the severe weather conditions. They are rescheduled for next week end in the Mayflower in Drumshanbo. Scór na Mbunscoileanna in Cloone Community centre this Friday evening starting at approx. 6 pm.

Barna Recycling Under 13 league – On Saturday last we had to travel to Blacklion to play Glencar Manorhamilton in round 2 of the league, we had a good win with final score Glencar/Manorhamilton 0- 03 Leitrim Gaels 2-17. Congratulations to the management and team. Training continues this evening from 7 to 8:15. Next league game is a home against Mohill on Sunday. Our reserve team will also play Mohill on Sunday.
