Newtowngore Engineering Minors – Rinn Gaels recorded their first victory of the league campaign on Saturday morning last when they proved too strong for Annaduff, winning on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-6. Challenge Game – Our thanks to St Michael’s for providing the opposition for an entertaining challenge game in Dromod on Sunday morning last. Another heartening pre-season performance from a young Bornacoola team and hopefully a sign of things to come ahead of the league season

Leitrim GAA – Tickets for the Leitrim GAA supporters club are currently on sale priced at €50 each – there is a huge range of prizes including a €5000 top prize and a trip to New York for the big game in May. Well done to Damian Moran and his colleagues on an excellent victory over Limerick on Sunday; meanwhile Michelle Hackett and Alison Mc Keon both starred for the Leitrim ladies in the league recently. Registration Day – Registration for all men women and children will take place in the Clubrooms on Saturday morning next from 10 to 11.30 am. Senior players €50, Student players €40, Minors €30, Under 6 €25, Non-players €30. There are numerous reductions for families.

County Game – Well done to the Leitrim team who had their first win on Sunday last. The victory will instill some confidence in the team as they head to London at the weekend. Mohill’s representatives Shane Quinn, Keith Keegan, Oisín Madden and Keith Beirne who scored 2-8 of the total all played well and it was great to see Alan Armstrong making an appearance towards the end following injury. 25 Under 11 boys and girls from Mohill played at halftime in the game and cheered on the team all through.

Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 – These boys had their first outing on Saturday last but unfortunately were beaten by a strong St Joseph’s team. Hopefully, we will have a full turn out of players on Saturday morning next  against Ballinamore in Pairc Philib at 12 noon

Barna Recycling Under 13 – Mohill’s tenacity at this age group saw them beat a strong St Mary’s side on Sunday morning last in cold but sunny conditions at Cloone. This was their second victory in Div 1 and every player from both sides gave it their all in an exciting encounter that could have gone either way. The team and scorers were Luke Bohan, Cillian Walpole, Adam McGuinness, Ondrei Coka, Diarmuid Casey, Cathal Donoghue, Michael Tiernan, Liam Flynn, Jack Rowley, Colin McNamara 0-1, Eoghan Duignan, Senan Curran 0-1, Aaron McCrann 2-0, Matthew Murphy 1-3, Aidan Mulligan.

Baby Boom – Congratulations to Senior player Talita and Kevin Gordon on the birth of their lovely little daughter Ayda. We also congratulate Padraig and Edel McWeeney on the birth of their gorgeous baby boy Cillian. both sets of parents work hard for our club at underage level.

FIXTURES – Our Division 3 Team League campaign will commence on Sunday 4th March with an away game in Glenfarne at 12 noon. On Saturday 10th March they will play Carrigallen in Aughavas at 4.30pm.  Our Division 4 team will play on Sunday 11th March in Aughavas against Mohill at 12 noon.

St JOSEPH’S BOYS – Well done to St Joseph’s u17’s who had a good win over Mohill on Saturday last in Aughavas.  Our next game is away to Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins on Saturday 10thMarch.  Congratulations also to our u13’s who came out on top in a hard fought game –v- Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins on Saturday morning.  Our next game is Sunday 3rd March in Aughavas against Dromahair with weather permitting.

Comhghairdeas – Aughawillan GAA would like to congratulate Padraig and Rachael Creamer who recently got married. We wish them many happy and healthy years together.

Dublin – Aughawillan Sponsored Cycle – 20 former Aughawillan players will cycle 150km from Castleknock GAA club to Aughawillan GAA club on May 12th. The cyclists are as follows: Mickey Quinn, Declan Darcy, Peter Prior, Gerry Flanagan, Noel Gilheany, Martin Flanagan, Gary Deane, Damien Gilheany, Pat Flanagan, Paul Bohan, Pauric Gilheany, Thomas Quinn, Niall Bohan, John Mannion, Pat Joe McNiffe, Seamus Quinn, Barry McBrien, Martin Flynn, Des Quinn & Ollie Plunkett. The goal is for each member of the cycle is to raise €1,000 to go towards the upgrading of the playing surface of the main pitch. Any donations that exceed this target will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society. Donations can be made to the cyclists directly or online (more details on this to follow). The fundraising has already begun in earnest, Aughawillan Drama Troupe have kindly donated the takings from one night of their recent production to the club. Martin Flanagan and Gary Deane are holding a table quiz in Jackie’s Bar on March 16th at 9pm, spot prizes and refreshments on the night. We ask that you support and encourage the cyclists in any way possible over the next few months as they prepare for the event in May. Allianz Leagues 2018 – Well done to the Leitrim footballers who recorded their first league win over Limerick last weekend. They now play London in Ruislip on Sat 3rd March. Club Trip – Our U9 and U11 teams travel to Croke Park next Saturday to attend the Dublin vs Kerry match in what we hope will be a memorable experience for them. Thank you to all coaches and parents who are travelling with the boys and huge credit has to go to Kenny Casey for organising the trip. Feile Boys Team Car Wash – Our Feile boys team will be holding a fundraising Car Wash this Saturday (3rd of March) from 10am to 3pm at the Church Car Park. All proceeds will go towards the expenses to be incurred in representing the club at the National Feile Finals this summer in the host counties of Down/Louth/Meath.  Please support on the day.

St Clare’s Ladies Team – Hard luck to the St Clare’s Senior Ladies team who were defeated by Claregalway in the Senior C Final on Monday last in Swinford.

Leitrim – Hard luck to the Leitrim Ladies who were defeated by Meath at the weekend.  Well done to the Leitrim senior men’s team who defeated Limerick at home last Sunday in the Allianz League – a result they richly deserved. They play London away this Saturday and we wish them well.  The county hurlers play Cavan in Ballinamore at 2.30 on Sunday.  This is a huge fixture for the lads and all support for the team and our 7 club representatives would be greatly appreciated.

Club Academy and Tournament – Our Club Academy for U7s continues on Friday nights in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School from 6-7pm.  €2 each or €5 max per family.  New players are joining every week so feel free to bring your children along to join in the fun and games.  Our Club Academy Tournament for 7-10 year olds continues this Friday night from 6.30-8.10pm at St Clare’s National School with the first game throwing in 6.30pm.  Players are asked to be in attendance fifteen minutes before their game.  €2 per player.

RESULTS – Our U13’s were out in the Barna Recycling Under 13 League (15) against Mohill on Sunday last, unfortunately, we lost 3.05 to 3.02. However, on a positive note, there were some great displays of football from our lads. In the Barna Recycling Under 13 Reserve League we drew with Mohill in what was our first game so well done to the lads.

Results – there were mixed results again in the double header played in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Saturday last. In the first game our u13’s fought back in the second half to overcome Kiltubrid by 5-09 to 4-02. In the second game our u17’s showed great improvement from their first league outing but fell just short losing to Allen Gaels by a point, 1-11 to 3-06. It was great to see a nice crowd in the park on such a cold morning but thankfully they were able to enjoy a cup of hot tea/coffee and a cup of Marie’s lovely soup. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

Fixtures for the weekend – on Saturday next our u17’s travel to take on Leitrim Gaels with a 12pm start. On Sunday our u13’s are away to Drumkeeran also at 12pm. Saturday afternoon next sees the commencement of the adult leagues. Our Div 3 team host Allen Gaels in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 4.30pm. All these games going ahead will depend on the weather not turning out as bad as predicted.
Handball news – best of luck to Jarlath Scollan in his upcoming All Ireland Junior handball semi-final.
Well done – Fenagh St Caillins u11 team featured in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada on Sunday last in the halftime games during the Leitrim v Limerick National Football League game. They took on Mohill and all played very well. Also well done to the Leitrim team on a great victory.
Medal presentation – Our 2017 victorious u13 and u17 teams will receive their medals on Sunday evening next in Fenagh Visitors Centre at 7pm. All Ireland winning Dublin player Ciarán Kilkenny will be a special guest for the event.
Lotto Draw – Results of our recent Lotto draw; The jackpot was €2200, numbers drawn were 4 7 1 6 8 2 5 3. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Seamus McLoughlin, Walter Sharply and Bernie McLoughlin. Yearly ticket holder €20 winner was SW Ventilation.  Thank you for your continuing support.
