Leitrim – Well done to the Leitrim team and especially Niall McGovern, Matt Murphy and Dean McGovern on their league victory against Limerick winning by a score of 2:18 to 1:09. Hopefully, they can continue with another win in London.

Newtowngore Engineering U17 League – Our U17 lads were beaten in their opening match of the league by a strong Leitrim Gaels Team with the final score Ballinamore 1:09 and Gaels 3:09. The lads will be hoping for a better result when they take on Mohill at 12:00 on Saturday in Pairc Philib Mhic Aongusa

R.I.P Darren O’Donnell – Drumkeerin would like to extend our sympathies to Valerie, Keith, Leanne and the O’ Donnell family who have always been involved in our club.  Darren will be sorely missed by the whole surrounding community. Darren himself was part of the U16 15-a-side winners in 2010. His presence will be sadly missed by all in the club. Ar dheis De go raibh sé.
U17 and U13 boys – Our U17’s play Glencar-Manorhamilton this Saturday at 12, in Drumkeerin. The U13’s play Fenagh on Sunday at 12, in Drumkeerin also. Come out and support them.
Fitness Class in aid of Lisa Cullen & Baby Kayden Benefit – On Thursday, 1st March, at 8.30pm in the handball alley there will be a new 6 week ladies fitness class. All proceeds will be going to the Lisa Cullen & Baby Kayden Benefit. These classes will be for the complete beginner to the regular fitness enthusiast. Classes are €25 for the 6 weeks, payable on the first night. The class will be performed by James from Macs Active. All ages catered for.

The Kube – Contestants doing ‘The Kube’ are still doing their fundraising events, and are doing really well. Events coming up this weekend are Mairead Beirnes Catchphrase Quiz Night which takes place in John James Mc Keon’s bar in Mohill on Friday 2nd March starting at 9.30pm. Steve Macklin is running a Poker Classic night on Saturday 3rd March in John James Mc Keon’s bar starting at 8.30pm. Barry Butler is running a 25 Card Drive which takes place in Kiltoghert Community Centre on Sunday 4th March starting at 5pm. We would ask everyone to try and support these events and help the contestants reach their targets. Tickets are now available for the night at €20 each.

Leitrim – Well done to the Leitrim Senior team who had a good win over Limerick on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-9.

Training – Training continues this week for all players on Tuesday and Friday night at 8 pm, and weather permitting there will be a challenge on Saturday evening at 4pm versus St. Michaels of Cootehall.

Congrats – Congratulations to Fiona Reilly from Bornacoola and Gerard Mc Nabola from Kilnagross who tied the knot recently, best of luck to them for the future.

Club Awards Night – Our club gathered on Saturday night to celebrate a year of success both on and off the field of play in 2017.  Medals were presented to the following teams: Ladies Level – Leitrim U14 Championship Winners, Leitrim U16 Championship Winners, Leitrim Minor Championship Winners & Connacht Runners Up and Leitrim Intermediate League Winners. Underage Boys Level: Longford/Leitrim U12 League Shield Runners Up, Leitrim U13 League and Championship Double Winners, All Ireland Feile Runners Up.  Adult Football Level: Leitrim Shield Winners and Leitrim U21 B Championship Winners.  Hurling Level: Longford/Leitrim League Winners.  We also honoured our All Ireland Scór Figure Dancing Champions and announced our 2017 Club Award Winners.  Congratulations to the following award recipients.  Ladies Young Player of the Year Muireann Devaney, Ladies Intermediate Player of the Year Laoise Clancy, Ladies Senior Player of the Year Dearbhla Rooney, Young Hurler of the Year Ethan Clancy, Senior Hurler of the Year Kevin Clerkin, Young Footballers of the Year Ruairi Sheridan and Vincent Sweeney, Junior Footballer of the Year Gavin O’Hagan, Intermediate Footballer of the Year Thomas Coyle, Senior Footballers of the Year Adrian Croal and Brian McDonald and Club Person of the Year Dermot McMorrow.  Many thanks to our Club Executive for organising the event, our club sponsors for being in attendance, the ladies who organised the refreshments, the Bee Park Community Centre for the use of their facilities and our resident photographer James Molloy.  Sincere thanks to our special guest paddy Christie who brought along Sam Maguire and his All-Star Award.  Paddy proved a bit hit with the full attendance.

Leitrim – Hard luck to the Leitrim Ladies who were defeated by Offaly at the weekend.  Good luck to the Leitrim senior men’s team who play Limerick at home this Sunday in the Allianz League.  Let’s all get out and support our young team and their management.

Leitrim Supporters Club – Anyone from the club area wishing to join or renew the Leitrim Supporters Club should contact Phil Flynn, Collette Fox or Ciaran Sheridan.  The club has an allocation to sell so it is important you join/renew through the club.

Underage Results and Fixtures – The Glencar Manor club season got underway on Saturday last with our U17’s playing Dromahair in Blacklion in an away fixture.  Hard luck to the team who lost by one point in a competitive encounter.  This Saturday they host Melvin Gaels at 12noon with venue TBC.  Our U13’s made the long journey to Carrick on Shannon on Sunday to play St Mary’s in Round 1 of the League.  Hard luck to our young players who were beaten on the day by an older and stronger St Mary’s side.  Good luck to the team who are home to Leitrim Gaels this Sunday at 12noon with venue TBC.  Please support both our U17s and U13s in their league campaigns.

New Arrival – Hearty congrats to Berni Farrell and Ciaran McLaughlin on the safe arrival of their baby daughter Cara, a beautiful little sister for Luke.

Club Academy and Tournament – Our Club Academy for U7s continues on Friday nights in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School from 6-7pm.  €2 each or €5 max per family.  New players are joining every week so feel free to bring your children along to join in the fun and games.  Our Club Academy Tournament for 7-10-year-olds continues this Friday night from 6.30-8.10pm at St Clare’s National School with the first game throwing in 6.30pm.  Players are asked to be in attendance fifteen minutes before their game.  €2 per player.

ANNUAL FUNDRAISING DRAW – Our Annual Fundraising Draw takes place this Saturday the 24th of February in Spirit Bar, Mohill. Tickets are still available and must be returned to any club officer before Saturday evening. Almost €5000 in prizes to give away and if you’re not in you can’t win. This is our main fundraiser for the year and we would like to thank everyone who has helped the club so far by buying a ticket.

ALLIANZ LEAGUE – Next week see’s the return to the National Football League when Leitrim take on Limerick in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada. While it has been a difficult league to date, Sunday is an opportunity to get two points on the board. Best of luck to team and management.

Underage – There were mixed fortunes for our teams in action last week. Our U17 team started the league with a one-point victory over Glencar/Manorhamilton on Saturday while both our U13 teams suffered defeat to Leitrim Gaels on Sunday. The U17 team is scheduled to play Drumkeeran on Saturday and the U13s are scheduled to play Melvin Gaels on Sunday. Keep an eye on Facebook and group text for confirmation of times/venues.
Registration – Parents and players are reminded that all players must be registered before playing for insurance purposes.

Amelia Pajek – Amelia gave the performance of her young life at the Scór na Óg All Ireland Finals in Sligo on Saturday last. Amelia sang her song beautifully and was unlucky not to get the judges nod. The Club thanks Amelia, her co-ordinator Róisín Kennedy and her parents for representing Mohill on stage

Under 13 – These young men played the first game of the year in Carrigallen on Sunday morning in rough conditions last and collected full points off a spirited St Joseph’s side. We had a great squad and everyone got some playing time. The panel and scorers were: Luke Bohan, Adam Mc Guinness, Cathal Donohue, Harry Boyle, Michael Tiernan, Liam Flynn, Diarmuid Casey, Jack Rowley 0-1, Eoin Duignan 1-1, Colin McNamara 0-2, Matthew Murphy 1-3, Senan Curran 0-1, Aidan Mulligan 1-1, Aaron McCrann 1-1, Jack McCrann. Cash for Clobber – If you wish to get rid of surplus clothes, bed linen, towels, shoes, belts and soft toys and do a spring clean, the Mohill Ladies are collecting every Saturday in the Clubrooms from 10 to 12pm for the month of February as a fundraiser.
