St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 08/05/2018

RESULTS – Our U15’s had mixed emotions in the 2018 West link Coaches (15) League having got beaten by Mohill last Tuesday evening they drew with Allen Gaels on Friday evening.

LEITRIM SENIORS – Huge congratulations to the Leitrim Senior team and management especially Brendan, Leo, Micheal and Nicholas who beat New York by one point in extra time in the first round of the Connacht senior Football championship. Well done to the large number of supporters from the parish and county who travelled to Gaelic Park and got behind our team when they needed them most to get them over the line and into the Connacht semi-final against Roscommon on 26th May in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada 

LEITRIM MINORS – Hard luck to the Leitrim minor team and management who lost out to Mayo in the 1st Round of the Connacht Championship last Wednesday evening in McHale Park, Castlebar.

St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 01/05/2018

RESULTS – Our U15’s got off to a good start beating Gortletteragh in their first game of the league. We got beaten by Glencar – Manorhamilton in the Division 3 League.

JUNIOR LADIES – Congratulations and well done the girls of Bornacoola/St Mary’s who have qualified for the Division 3 League Final following a 5-15 to 3-5 semi-final victory over Keeldra Gaels in sunny conditions in Páirc Naomh Mhuire on Sunday afternoon last. In what was a very competitive match throughout, it was the greater efficiency of the home side’s attack, allied to staunch defending that proved the difference between the teams at the end. The girls were out of the blocks early and once they found the range for the first time they converted a greater ratio of scoring chances to carry a 3-9 to 1-3 lead into the interval, goalkeeper Caroline Guckian saving a penalty just before the break. To their credit, the Keeldra girls never threw in the towel and provided very stern opposition right to the very end but the girls tagged on a number of second-half scores to keep them at arm’s length. The girls will now face a tough test in the final with unbeaten Dromahair providing the opposition. This game will be played at a date to be decided later in May. On duty on Sunday last were: Caroline Guckian, Cora McCauley, Jasmine Maye, Emily Reynolds, Lorraine Guckian, Enya Guckian, Alison McKeon, Kasey Bruen (1-4), Aisling Leahy (2-3), Sara Crowe (2-2), Hannah Reynolds, Kelly Howard (0-2), Hannah Bird (0-3), Ellen Woods (0-1), Tanya Boyle and Kathy Butler.

UNDERAGE ACADEMY – U9’s will play Dromahair in a blitz on Saturday, a message will be sent out to all concerned.   Training will continue this Saturday for U8, U10 & U12 girls from 10-11am. Our U7’s training will resume on Saturday 12th May from 10-11am.

COUNTY U14 LADIES – Well done to St. Mary’s girls Ellie Barnes, Blaithín McCrann, Sarah Reynolds and Hannah Stenson who were all on the Leitrim U14 team who played Sligo in the Connacht C Final on Sunday last.

U12 GIRLS – Our U12 girls will be starting their league campaign in late May.

CUMANN N MBUNSCOIL – Good luck to all our club boys and girls participating with their various schools in the upcoming Cumann na mBunscoil competition.

St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 24/04/2018

RESULTS – There was a great buzz around the club over the last week with our underage teams winning three titles in two days.  Our U13’s won the Barna Recycling Under 13 (15) League and the Reserve League Final beating Mohill on both occasions, while our U17 team beat Ballinamore – Sean Ó Heslin’s in the John McCartin Newtowngore Engineering League Final. It’s been a long time since we had such excitement in the club and it was great to see young and old come out over the two days to support these very dedicated boys, well done to all three teams and their management and to their captains Daniel Martin, Charlie Boyle and Oisín Bohan. Keep up the great work.

Our Division 3 team continued with the winning streak on Saturday evening beating Aughawillan well. Unfortunately, our Division 4 team lost out to Aughavas on Sunday afternoon.

LADIES – Hard luck to our U14 girls who lost out to Manorhamilton in the Leitrim Féile final in Manorhamilton on Wednesday evening last. It was a very competitive game played in very windy conditions and Manorhamiltons experience won out on the evening.  We wish Manor every success as they represent Leitrim at Féile 2018.

The girls were back out again on Saturday afternoon to play St. Joseph’s in their last game of the round and game in which our girls won. As we lost only one game in our round we await other results to see if we have reached the final. Please keep an eye on Facebook for further details.

UNDERAGE ACADEMY – The sun was shining on Saturday morning as our Academy got off a great start for their first training session of the year out on the pitch.  It was wonderful to see so many children, parents and coaches out. RESULTS – Hard luck to our Senior team and Division 4 team who were beaten by Melvin Gaels and Leitrim Gaels respectively at the weekend.

Well done to our Under 17’s who had a good win over Allen Gaels in the last game of their round and played them again yesterday.  Please see Facebook for results. Well done to our U13 reserve team who dug deep against Leitrim Gaels in the semi-final to win a place in the final along with the U13 15 aside team.

RESULTS – Well done to our Seniors who beat Fenagh St. Caillins by five points on Saturday evening. Our Under 17 game against Allen Gaels and Division 3 game against Gortletteragh were called off due to unplayable pitches. Well done to our U13 (15) team and management who beat Leitrim Gaels in the semi-final of the league and have now booked their place in the Barna Recycling League final.

RESULTS – Well done to our U17’s who beat Ballinamore SOH at home on Saturday afternoon and to our U13 (15) team who had a great win over Ballinamore on Thursday evening.  Unfortunately, our Seniors and Division 3 teams did not continue the winning streak and were both beaten at the weekend by Mohill and Drumkeerin respectively.

St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 27/03/2018

RESULTS – Our U13’s had two wins during the week against Leitrim Gaels and St. Joseph’s in the Barna Recycling Under 13 League, our reserve team never got going against Leitrim Gaels and suffered a defeat. Our junior team were defeated on Saturday evening last by Cloone on a score line of 1.12 to 1.10 in the Swan Bar ACL Division 4 League. Well done to our U17 team and management who had a very strong win over St. Joseph’s in the John McCartin Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League.

RESULTS – Well done to our U17’s who beat Mohill well in the John McCartin Newtowngore Engineering Division 1 League on Friday evening. We also beat Fenagh- St. Caillin’s in the Swan Bar Division 3 League on Sunday.

RESULTS –  Well done to both our U13 teams who beat Dromahair in the Barna Recycling Under 13 League. We got well beaten by Ballinamore SOH in the Swan Bar ACL Division 4 League. Unfortunately, the John McCartin Newtowngore Engineering Under 17 League Division 1 game between St. Mary’s and Leitrim Gaels was called off.

LADIES – Congratulations to our St. Mary’s/Bornacoola Junior Ladies who had a good win over Keeldra Gaels on Sunday and Congratulations to the U14 girls who beat St. Brigid’s in their first game of the league.

UNDERAGE ACADEMY – There will be no underage Academy this Saturday St. Patricks Day, we hope that all children will join us in the parade instead as per details below.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE – Carrick’s St Patrick’s Day parade will start at 12.45pm. We will meet in Shannon Lodge at 12.30pm sharp. We hope as many children as possible can wear their club colours and join us to march through the town in the parade and we will return to Shannon Lodge at the end. St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 27/02/2018

RESULTS – Our U13’s were out in the Barna Recycling Under 13 League (15) against Mohill on Sunday last, unfortunately, we lost 3.05 to 3.02. However, on a positive note, there were some great displays of football from our lads. In the Barna Recycling Under 13 Reserve League we drew with Mohill in what was our first game so well done to the lads.

St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club Notes 20/02/2018

All IRELAND SCÓR NA NÓG – There were no All Ireland medals for St. Mary’s at Scór in Sligo on Saturday, but my God did the girls dance and sing their hearts out on stage. Well done to Emma Morgan, Áine Morgan, Nicole Glancy, Grace Duignan, Rhianna Ward, Kaneisha Beirne, Sienna Beirne, Amelia Zawadzka, Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Elsie Harman, Eleanor Smith and Rionach Nic Conmara who all flew the flag for St. Mary’s GAA, Leitrim & Connacht. These girls are oozing with talent, it’s very difficult for them to go back year after year and come away with no title on the day but keep at it girls, both groups are superb, and an All-Ireland title is just around the corner. We are all so proud of you and all you have achieved with Scór.

Our Connacht Champions finished off the evening with a homecoming in the clubhouse where they once again performed for family and friends. Thanks so much to everyone who travelled to Sligo on Saturday to support the girls and to everyone involved in preparing both groups.

Well done also to the other Leitrim participants Amelia Pajak from Mohill in Solo Singing and the Ballinamore Quiz Team.
