All IRELAND SCÓR NA NÓG – There is great excitement in the club as Knocknarea Arena, Sligo I.T is the venue for the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg finals this Saturday 17^th February. Our Ballad Group and Figure Dancers will travel with a large group of supporters to support St. Mary’s in their quest for All –Ireland glory.

CLUB REGISTRATION – We will hold our CLUB REGISTRATION in The Clubhouse this Friday evening 16th February 8-9pm & Saturday morning 17th February 11am-1pm.

Please return completed membership forms which Michael Clancy Club Registrar has been distributing at the various training sessions and will continue to distribute.

Make sure to ask about our Family membership when registering as it’s important that parents are members and involved in the club also.

U7 ACADEMY – Indoor Gaelic football for all U7 boys and girls continues next Saturday at the later time of 12 noon in The Sports Complex, Carrick on Shannon.

U9 boys coaching continues Sunday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm while U11 training for boys starts at 7.30pm to 8.30pm on Sunday.

Please come along & spread the word among friends. New members very welcome.

SENIOR SCÓR – Senior Scór is taking place on Saturday 03^rd March in the Mayflower Drumshanbo. Categories include figure dancing, solo singing, recitation, ballad group, léiriú, instrumental music and set dancing. If anyone would like to get involved, please contact Laura on 087 9664406.

SYMPATHY – We were deeply saddened to hear of the sad passing of Paddy Phelan on Friday last. We express our sincere sympathy to his wife Monica, sons Alan, Hilary and Packie, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Paddy’s passing is a huge blow to Carrick Hurling club and Leitrim GAA where for generations he instilled in all who played not only a love of hurling but also the importance of developing the skills of the game he loved so dearly. Paddy will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as one of life’s true gentlemen.

UNDERAGE PRESENTATION – Our Underage presentation night will take place in St. Mary’s Hall this Saturday 3rd February at 6pm. All medals and awards including the George O’Toole awards will be presented on the night by Dublin legend Alan Brogan. It promises to be a great evening, and everyone is very welcome to attend.

COISTE CHONTE LITROMA AWARDS – Coiste Chontae Liatroma Awards 2017 takes place in the Bush Hotel this Sat 3rd February 2018. The following from our Club will receive awards under the following categories:

County Player of the Year: Michael McWeeney

U16 Player of the Year: Paul Keaney

County Hurler of the Year: James Glancy

SYMPATHY – St. Mary’s GAA wishes to express its deepest sympathy to the Comerton Family on the death of Michael’s mother Maureen, Grandmother to Niall, Paul and Cathal. May she rest in peace.

 

SCÓR NA NÓG CONNACHT FINAL – There was great excitement in Claremorris on Sunday when St. Mary’s Figure Dancers and Ballad Group were crowned Connacht Scór na nÓg Champions.The Figure Dancers included: Emma Morgan, Áine Morgan, Nicole Glancy, Grace Duignan, Rhianna Ward, Kaneisha Beirne, Sienna Beirne and Amelia Zawadzka while The Ballad Group consisted of: Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Elsie Harman, Eleanor Smith and Rionach Nic Conmara

They have secured their place in the All Ireland Final on Sat 17th February which will be held on our doorstep this year in the Knocknarea Arena in Sligo.

Hard luck to our Instrumental group and Michael on his recitation. You were all excellent and the Club are so proud of you all.

Thanks to Claire and Laura Crossan and all the mentors and parents for their support and commitment in preparing the groups. A big thank you and well done to Kathy Butler who once again acted as Bean an Tí on Sunday and as always did a brilliant job.

LEITRIM SUPPORTERS CLUB LAUNCH – Marty Morrissey will be the special guest at the annual Leitrim Supporters’ Club launch in the Celtic Suite of Croke Park on Thursday, January 18, at 7.30pm sharp.  This year’s gathering also includes a special recognition by the Leitrim Supporters’ Club of the three Leitrim legends who, 60 years ago this year, won Railway Cup Medals in 1958: Columba Cryan, Packy McGarty and Cathal Flynn.

Organised by the Dublin Branch of the Leitrim’s Supporters Club, last year’s event drew 160 attendees and proved another highlight of the year’s social calendar.  Parking will be available in the Cusack Stand car park (accessed through the GAA museum entrance off Clonliffe Road.  Doors will open at the slightly earlier time of 7.00pm this year with the addresses and entertainment starting at 7.30pm sharp. Light refreshments will be provided at the interval with the night concluding at 9.15pm sharp. A bus will travel to Croke Park from Leitrim for the event, times as follows:  Drumshanbo Swimming Pool 4.15pm, Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada 4.40pm, Bornacoola GAA Grounds 5.00pm.  The bus is free of charge.

BERNARD MURRAY 5K MEMORIAL RUN/WALK – Hundreds turned out on Saturday last for Bernard’s 5K memorial walk/run. Young and old from the town and all over Leitrim, Roscommon & further afield came out to support his family and remember Bernard who was loved by all who had ever met him. It was great to see Bernard’s close friend and neighbour Clive Glancy first man home while the first female home was Dympna Kelly. Thanks so much to all who organised the event and helped in any way. A special thank you to Mark Kelly and Monica Shannon who captured this memorable day on camera all of which are up on our Facebook page.

WEDDING BELLS – Congratulations and very best wishes to Daniel Kennedy and Keara Freeley who were married in Greystones on Saturday. Wishing you both a lifetime of love, joy and happiness together.

SCÓR NA NÓG COUNTY FINAL – Well done to our 24 St. Mary’s participants who competed so brilliantly at the Leitrim Scór na nÓg County Final on Sunday. The hard work paid off because everyone that performed did so superbly.

We came away with four titles including The Figure Dancing consisting of Emma Morgan, Áine Morgan, Nicole Glancy, Grace Duignan, Rhianna Ward, Kaneisha Beirne, Sienna Beirne and Amelia Zawadzka. Recitation: Michael Connorton. Ballad Group: Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Elsie Harman, Eleanor Smith and Rionach Nic Conmara and finally The Instrumental Music Group consisting of Ava Brogan, Roisin Noone, Emer Kavanagh and Niamh Kavanagh.  Well done also to Kathy Butler who acted as Bean an Tí on the day, Kathy did an excellent job, putting the young contestants at ease and keeping the shown running to time. A big thank you to Laura and Claire Crossan also for all their hard work, time and dedication in ensuring that all participants are well rehearsed for Scór each year.

Michael and the three winning groups will go on to represent Leitrim at the Connacht Scór na nÓg Final in Claremorris on Sunday 14th January.

SANTA VISITS THE CLUBHOUSE – Once again Santa’s visit to the Clubhouse was a great success. A lot of work goes into organising the big day and thanks so much to everyone who helped in any way.  Most of all thanks to you the parents and children for coming out in huge numbers and making this such an enjoyable evening. Special thanks to Santa also who listened to all sorts of requests for the big day, we’re sure he won’t disappoint.

BERNARD MURRAY 5K MEMORIAL RUN/WALK – The Club will hold a 5K memorial run/walk on Saturday 30^th December at 12.30pm in memory of the late Bernard Murray. Registration from 11am at the clubhouse.  Please save the date in your diary and come out and make it a really special event for Bernard.  All proceeds raised will go to one of the many charities that Bernard was involved in.

SOCIAL NIGHT – We are having a get together in The Barrelstore on Friday 29^th December at approx 9pm where we will hold the raffle from the OsKaRs Sponsorship Cards….1^st prize: 2 Tickets for All Ireland Football Final 2018, 2^nd Prize: 2 Tickets for All Ireland Hurling Final 2018 and 3^rd Prize: 1-night break at Titanic Hotel, Belfast.  This promises to be a great night and a chance to catch up with friends and family home for Christmas.  It’s also a chance for all the actors and actresses to meet up again.

MERRY CHRISTMAS – As 2017 draws to a close, may we wish all our members, players, administrators, supporters and their families wherever in the world you may be a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year and extend a special Thank You to all for your contribution to Naomh Mhuire Kiltoghert during the year. We look forward to 2018 with great hope and anticipation after what has been a very positive and enjoyable year for the club both on and off the pitch. We also said goodbye to some great Club people during the year and they and their families are very much in our thoughts especially at Christmas time.

LEITRIM GAA AWARDS – Congratulations to Tom Guckian who has won the Jim Lynch Hall of Fame Award, Micheal McWeeney on winning the Senior County Player of the year, Paul Keaney, County U16 Player of the Year and James Glancy, County Hurler of the Year. They will receive their Awards at the Awards night on Saturday, February 4^th.
