Due to the demands on our website we have decided to move home, lock stock and photo gallery, as we have out-grown our previous accommodation. This move to a new hosting area will allow us to expand and add more functionality to the site over the next year.

We are currently using the backup domain name of www.LeitrimGAA.org as we await the remapping of the www.LeitrimGAA.ie address which should be complete by the weekend.

Almost all of the site is rehoused and retested in its new home. There is no recent change in the design or layout but if you notice anything unusual please advise me asap (using the email address at the bottom of the page )and we will rectify the issue.

It has been a long year for club players and the second tier of the league has finished for 4 groups as 4 finals were played over the weekend. Mohill are the undisputed champions for 06 as they claim their second title.

On Saturday in Division 1 League it was definitely Mohills year as they claimed the double title with a one point win over Aughawillan played in favorable weather conditions in Ballinamore on Saturday.

Today was a busy day with 3 finals played. Bornacoola took the honours in the Division 1 Shield as they overcame Allen Gaels by 4 points on a scoreline of Allen Gaels 2-02 to 1-09 Bornacoola.

In the Division 2 Shield Final Aughnasheelin just managed their win with the narrowest of margins after their 1-08 to 1-07 for Ballinaglera.

The Division 3 Shield Final saw Drumkeerin score 3 critical goals in their 3-03 to 0-09 win over Sean O Heslins. A goal for Drumkeeeran in the last few minutes robbed Sean O Heslins of their one point advantage and Drumkeeran sealed the victory with a final point.

Only the Division 2 League remains with Intermediate champions Carrigallen on top and they await the second place team which is currently a 3 way betweenÓglencar/Manor, Sean O Heslins & Glenfarne/Kilty. Carrigallen have a chance to replicate the double title wins of Mohill at the Intermediate/Division 2 level.

The order of play based on the League rules for 06 means that Glenfarne/Kilty play Sean O Heslins in the preliminary game. The winners then play Glencar/Manorhamilton in the second playoff game. The winners of that game are thenÓguaranteed second slot for promotion to divison 1 and they get the chance for the league title when they play Carrigallen in the final. This format will take a 3 weeks to conclude inevitabley means that the competition will end in 07. At this point all the dates must be decided.

In other news the U21 B game between Carrigallen v Drumkeeran has yet to be decided on.

We hope to have news on all remaining fixtures later this week.

Congratulation to Aughnasheelin on winning the Leitrim County Club Grounds of the year for 2006. In a close run competition the outright winners were chosen after Connacht Officers inspected the short list recommended by the Leitrim County committee. The runners up were Bornacoola and Drumreilly.

All 3 have paid excellent attention to detail in recent years and this has culminated in the excellent quality of the grounds for both players and spectators alike.

Aughnasheelin have been particulary busy with recent major upgrading of the pitch and surrounding area. The awarding of this years title is well justified and congratulations to all concerned and well done on the win.

As part of our ongoing process to improve our site the home page has been modified to include a listing of the two most recent match results and the next 2 fixtures.

In addition the League Competition headings is now clickable and will bring you directly to the respective competition table. The League Team names are also clickable so when a team name is chosen a filtered view of results and known fixtures is displayed for that particular team.

More features will be added as they are developed over the next few weeks. Suggestions always welcome.
