Carrick Camogie Club Plays First Ever Match
GeneralWednesday, July 20th 2023, may prove to be a significant milestone in the more recent history of Leitrim Gaelic Games activities as Carrick Camogie Club played its first-ever match. A group of Under 12 Girls drawn together from the catchment area of Carrick Hurling Club have been practicing the skills of the game recently and this evening they played their first match, a challenge game with Boyle Camogie, The game was hosted at the excellent facilities of Carrick RFC and it was a most enjoyable evening for all the girls and indeed their coaches and parents. After a close encounter, in the true tradition of many underage challenge games, the result may have been a draw, but the real accomplishment and result was succeeding in fielding a team for the first time ever.
Onwards and upwards for this group of players and hopefully it’s the start of something that will flourish! Well done all!
Carrick and Boyle U12 Camogie Teams
End of an Era at JP Clarke’s, Yonkers, New York.
GeneralIt has been a roller coaster 28 years for Séamus and Caitríona Clarke at JP Clarke’s Saloon, Yonkers, New York, but the curtain has finally come down as Séamus and Caitríona have now retired from the business. A well-known hostelry for many Irish who have either visited New York, or have chosen the area to be their home over the best part of three decades, JP Calrke’s never failed in its efforts to extend a Céad Míle Failte to all comers.
Those of us associated with Leitrim GAA will have many fond memories of visits there over five trips to Gaelic Park to face New York in the Connacht SFC since 2003 and we were most diligently cared for on these visits, never wanting for anything. It was indeed appropriate that on our most recent trip in April, the team proudly wore the JP Clarke, New York, jerseys as Seamus and Caitríona’s five-year sponsorship deal edged towards its conclusion.
We wish to thank Séamus, Caitríona and staff for all their combined generosity and kindness shown towards us over the years and we wish them the very best in the next chapter of their lives.

Brendan Delaney GDA
CoachingBrendan Delaney left his role as GDA at the end of June to move back to Cork. We would like to thank Brendan for his dedication and commitment to the GDA role over the past two years and wish him every success in the future. He will be a serious loss to both our hurling panel and our clubs and Academies. We wish Brendan all the best for the future.
In recognition of his work with our academies, coaching and games presented Brendan with a Leitrim jersey, signed by all the academy players Brendan had coached during his time in Leitrim.
Pictured is the Leitrim U16 squad who defeated Wicklow on Saturday last in a very exciting game in the Fr. Manning Cup semi-final. They now play Longford in the final on Saturday August 12th.
