There are two games each on Saturday and Sunday in Division IV of the Allianz Football League as the battle for promotion reaches the crucial half-way juncture.

Saturday, March 9
Clare v Tipperary, Cusack Park, Ennis, 2pm
The meeting of Clare and Tipperary in Division IV on Saturday afternoon in Ennis has the potential to really separate the two teams in the fourth tier. A Clare win would see them move four points ahead of their Munster rivals, while a Tipperary win would put them level with Clare on four points.
Peter Creedons Tipperary side finally got their first points on the board last weekend when they defeated London, while Clare picked up their second win in a row with an impressive win away to Offaly. Clare will look once more to forward David Tubridy, who hit 0-4 from play against Offaly. For Tipperary, anything less than a win here would realistically see their promotion ambitions for 2013 come to an end.
London v Waterford, Ruislip, 2pm
The other game on Saturday afternoon in Division IV is in Ruislip, where London host Waterford. Waterford are looking to bounce back from last weekends defeat to Limerick, while London are still chasing their first points of the campaign.
Waterfords narrow defeat to Limerick in Dungarvan last Saturday night somewhat halted their impressive progress under Niall Carew in the fourth tier, but a win this Saturday would put them firmly back in the promotion hunt. London will be eager to get some positive results in the league as soon as possible, as Manager Paul Coggins looks to build confidence in the Exiles camp ahead of their Connacht Championship clash against Sligo on May 26.
Sunday, March 10
Limerick v Carlow, Gaelic Grounds, Limerick, 2.30pm
That Limerick have top billing at the Gaelic Grounds this Sunday on a double header that also involves the county’s hurlers is a real sign of just how well the Shannonsiders have been moving this year. Last Saturday’s 0-8 to 0-6 win over Waterford was their third in a row and they are now clear at the top of Division IV with maximum points and the meanest defensive record across all four divisions.
Following an excellent start to the year under new Manager Anthony Rainbow, Carlow encountered their first major hiccup last weekend when they lost to Leitrim by seven points. The Barrowsiders had been a touch fortunate to beat Tipperary and London by the minimum in the previous rounds so it was no major surprise when their luck ran out at Dr. Cullen Park last weekend. A very settled Limerick side, devoid of any of the major injury problems that have blighted previous campaigns, present an even more intimidating hurdle on Sunday.
Leitrim v Offaly, Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, 2.30pm
In previous seasons, Leitrim probably would have settled for a mid-table finish had they lost their first two games in Division IV. However, with expectation levels increased by their FBD success, joint Manager Barney Breen is already talking about being back in the promotion race after last weekend’s excellent and badly needed win over Carlow.
Offaly have shown a marked improvement this year under Emmet McDonnell, but their only win from three games so far has come against London. After failing tests against Limerick and Clare, a win over Leitrim would be a major confidence booster for the Faithful County. McDonnell has made two changes for the game, with Derek Kelly and Willie Mulhall included from the start.

Joe released a statement – printed in The Leitrim Observer this week – asking fans to show their support of Leitrim GAA by getting behind the Supporters Club, 2013:
“The Supporters Club is the lifeline that allows us prepare all our teams in the professional way that is necessary if we wish to compete in a meaningful fashion,” he notes.
After listing the ongoing endeavours at all levels within Leitrim GAA, the chairman adds: “Obviously all of these activities require a huge financial commitment from the Board and the success of our Supporters Club draw is paramount to our continued efforts to provide for the ongoing needs of Leitrim GAA.”
The draw for the Leitrim Supporters Club takes place on Saturday 23rd March in Coxs Steakhouse, Dromod.

I am a native of Driney, Drumcong, and in my youth I played football for Kiltubrid. I am a member of the Leitrim Supporters Club, in Dublin. I am a founder member of Naomh Olaf, Hurling, Football and Camogie Club, in Sandyford, Dublin 16, which was founded in 1981.
I have compiled and edited a thirty year history of the Club entitled “Treasured Memories”. It is a hard back in full color, containing almost four hundred pages and more than two hundred and eighty photographs, many of them team pictures. Its contents include the remarkable story of the founding, success and development of aThe highs and lows on the field of play in Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and Camogie. The building of a magnificent Club premises. The Clubs Annual Corporate Lunch in Croke Park. Details of off-field activities including Scór, a thriving Golf Society, the Clubs Annual Golf Classic. How the Club financed its development as well as many articles of special interest to G.A.A. people.
This book was launched by the then President of the G.A,A, Christy Cooney, on the 10th of December, 2011 and already almost eight hundred copies have been sold. It has been highly commended by many of its readers. The President Michael D. Higgins Officially opened a
new Pastoral Center, in Balally Parish recently and the Pastoral Centre Committee was pleased to present the President with a copy of the book
This book would be of interest to any G.A.A. member, but it would be of exceptional interest to any Club or individual who would be considering writing or compiling a history of their own Club, It costs €20 plus postage, if any.

2013 Leitrim Club Championship Draws
Club FootballThe draw for this years Connacht Gold Senior Club Championship, the GWP Intermediate Club Championship and the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior Club Championships will take place in the Bush Hotel, Carrick on Shannon on Tuesday night 19th March 2013.
John Lynch, Shannonside Radio will host the event and will broadcast the draw live at 9pm on the night. We would love to see you at the draw and ask that if you are attending, to be seated by 8.30pm.

Fenagh St Caillins are victorious in Minor League 11-a-side Final
Coiste na nÓgCongratulations to Fenagh St. Caillin’s who had a great win in last Saturday’s Minor League 11-a-side final against neighbours Aughnasheelin.
In the first four minutes Ryan O’Rourke Fenagh St. Caillin’s had scored 1-2 which put them well on the road to victory. Although this was a 11-a-side final, both teams only fielded nine players as Aughnasheelin only had nine and Fenagh agreed to play at that level but such was Fenagh’s dominance that the numbers made little difference. O’Rourke went on to score 3-6 of Fenagh’s total and dominated Fenagh’s performance with Aaron McLoughlin, Ronan Ellis, Tony Simms, Richard Heaney and Shane Doonan all putting in a good display.
Aughnasheelin were never able to get going and their talented forwards Fintan Fitzpatrick and Patrick Sammon not getting enough supply to cause any problems as their midfield and defence was overwhelmed. Final score in Mohill was Fenagh St. Caillin’s 6-10, Aughnasheelin 1-04

Kellogg’s GAA Cul camps
Leitrim GAA wish to recruit a number of suitably qualified personnel to work as coaches on our Kelloggs GAA Cul camps during the month of July.
Candidates must be over 18, have attained a minimum of Foundation award coaching qualification, have completed the GAA or Irish Sports Council child welfare & protection course and be Garda vetted to be eligible for consideration.
