At the Leitrim GAA Convention today, votes of sympathy were extended to the family of the late Paidi O Se, Kerry.

Paidi will be remembered not only as one of the greatest footballers of his time and also as a very successful Manager guiding Kerry to two All Ireland victories. His talent, commitment and energy were legendary.

This was one of the best attended U21 Finals in years and the huge attendance were treated to a game of real quality that excelled in all that is good in our games.

Both teams played an attractive brand of fast-flowing football which seen the game ebb and flow and remain in the balance throughout.  To be fair there was some untidy play and mistakes made at times – stemming no doubt from the tension of the occasion for the players, but all in all, it will be remembered for all the tenacious defending, sweeping moves from defence to attack, exquisite scores and the wonderful atmosphere in the stands.

Normal time couldn’t separate the two sides and even though they were both out on their feet at the full time whistle they still managed to produce another 20 minutes of quality football.

Congratulations to Glencar Manorhamilton on their win but most especially to both teams and their mentors for producing one of the best games of football in the 2012 Leitrim Championship Season.

Final score Glencar Manorhamilton 1-10, St Manchans 1-8.

Cluainín Iomaint and Gortletteragh played the Minor Hurling Final last Sunday at St. Marys GAA pitch.  With near perfect weather conditions and playing surface for hurling the supporters were treated to some wonderful hurling.  In a one sided game the Manorhamilton team dominated the game in all areas of the field.  Cluainín were on a high from winning the Under 16 Championship last weekend and with senior county players of Niall McLoughlin and Kevin Clerkin showing leadership Gortletteragh just could not cope.  Gortletteragh did have the fitness and physicality but their lack of practice with the camán and sliotar was evident. Niall Beirne and Enna Madden battled hard but the elusive James Rooney and Niall McLoughlin in midfield for Manor were much too strong.  Gavin O Hagan had to be alert to make two fine saves inÓgoals for Cluainín in the second half.  Martin Monaghan, Conor O Hagan and Micheal Feely commanded the full back line while the skillful Kevin Clerkin and Ethan Clancy won every ball that came their way in the half back line.  Karl McDermott at centre half forward for Cluainín will surely be making an appearance for the county team soon.  He was instrumental in all of Cluainíns attacks.  Alan McSharry also showed some great touches at corner forward.  In total Manor had nine players on the score sheet which shows that it was by no means a one man show.  Final score Cluainín Iomaint 4.13 Gortletteragh 0.03.
Well done to Cluainín Iomaint who are setting the standard for others to follow making a clean sweep winning the Under 16, Minor and Senior Championships.
